Where did she go wrong..? How in the hell did she end up in this mess? Well it all started when she was born- but that would be too painful to think about, so she wouldn't..But what else was she supposed to do? This jail cell and it's inhabitants offered no stimulus, all of them too worried or..weird-looking- like that horned guy in the corner twitching for some odd reason- to be much entertainment. Each of them were buzzing with energy, their minds flaring almost frantically in search of..anything really. A way out of this death trap.
That idea shot through her gut like a bullet, was she going to die here? No, no Gambit wouldn't allow it.. Though they had been together for only 2 years..and of course, they argued..a lot. She was going through what Gambit described as "a stupid phase of pity for those who don't deserve it..!" How was not wanting to kill someone who likely was being controlled by a bad guy a 'stupid phase'. God he was such a prick sometimes but..he was all he had, he had been the only one to stick around long enough for her to grow to like. He was her mentor, her rock, and he was going to come for her!
But as her pale arms wrapped slowly around her white jumpsuit-clad body, she couldn't stop that dreadful feeling from sinking into her gut. She didn't want to die here. She was only 23 for gods sake..and here she was..imprisoned for..well, that was complicated. The stinging of the cuts and the aching of the bruises came alight once again as she thought of it. They had taken an agreement to protect a client who was being chased by the Penguin and Two-Face, and despite the danger he had been in.
Not once did she see the red-cape or the bat fly through the sky to protect him. Not once. Those bigoted sons of-! A shard of concrete plopped against her head, making her quickly glance up. "Can't even keep the place together?..As*holes..!" she hissed quietly to herself, not loud enough to draw attention, but enough that she could get her voice out. Trying to calm herself again, the woman pushed that white, dense blanket of hair from her shoulders, gathering it in a loose ponytail at the base of her neck..It was going to be a long day, she had only been here for maybe a day..and these too bright lights were already starting to give her a migraine.
A shout rang out through the holding cell, she spared a glance upwards. What was it now? Before a sudden tremor shot through the entire prison, threatening to cascade them into the ocean surrounding them, it sent her tumbling to her feet. The guards dressed in black all ran from their posts in front of the large metal bars, rushing off towards..was that the sound of the ocean? Alright, kid I need some help.. the deep voice from within her mind, sent a shock through her system, a bright smile breaking past her cold pale lips. Gambit! Taking a hard breath, she focused her mind, closing her eyes as she projected the halls she had seen on her way to this holding cell (whose inhabitants were now shouting..that didn't help) to her partner, of course he would need her help. Last time she checked, he had never been caught..and she wasn't about to let him get caught because of her.
Opening her eyes in a flash, just as a guard passed by the bars, her mind lunged to his.
It was almost like a tugging from deep within her spine as the guard offered weak resistance before it finally gave in and she had control of him. He should have some keys somewhere, and just at this thought, the man clad in black tore a pair of keys from his pocket, opening the door quickly, she charged out. It was almost like a pressure on her mind was alleviated as she dropped the man's mind, the sudden rush of his own consciousness returning to him promptly knocked him out. He collapsed. As if I'd let him have all the fun! she snorted out, she knew he could hear her thoughts vaguely but she didn't care.
