It was round 4 when Alec got a call from one of his pack members that they found a girl laying right inside the border of their territory. He agreed to get there as soon as he could. Unlike the myth werewolves in human stories Alec and the rest of the werewolves could shift when they wanted, but they were also forced to on the full moon so the stories were half true. His wolf form was truly beautiful and as he ran into the woods, jumping off of the edge of a small bank he landed in the damp mud on all fours as he raced through the woods. They had found the girl near the east edge of the territory, which was quite a hike away from hi house so it was easier if he just shifted and ran. Alec finally found them with a girl curled up, all of his guys keeping their distance. As Alec shifted back he could tell this girl was human, but she reeked of vampires. He wasn't exactly pleased that she was here, but there was something about her that told him to trust her. He approached her carefully and set his hand on her bare shoulder. He needed her to wake up, he had so questions to ask her. He still had this weird feeling in the back of his mind that he needed to trust her, but for the sake of his pack Alec couldn't be that trusting. At least not until he knows more. "Wake up, human." his voice was calm, but firm. Alec had always had a sort of calming presence about him regardless if he was talking or just listening. He was never really angry or upset unless he is threatened and his pack is threatened.

Alec could tell by the way this girl shot up and backed away that she was scared and he could smell the fear scent that she was letting off. Actually the whole pack could sense the fear this girl was letting off, and her eyes were drowning in fear. He didn't understand what was wrong until he focused in on her bare feet and arms covered in bite marks. The clothing this girl had on was barely enough to keep anyone warm. Alec didn't have any idea why she would have these marks, after all the vamps agreed to drink from blood bags from the hospital and no real people, but were they lying to Alec. Despite the sorrow he had for the girl, there was something else. Something he had never felt before. He knew this girl needed food and shelter. It looked like she hadn't eaten in weeks and there is no way he'd let her stay outside in the weather he knew was coming. "I'm not going to hurt you." he knew she might not speak back to him, but he needed to get her trust or at least a bit of it so he could get her to the safety of his pack. "My name is Alec Castle. Would you please tell me yours?" he asked holding his hand out to her.

As he took a hold of her hand his emerald green eyes met her ocean blue eyes. They were breathtaking, but there was still something weird. The bite marks covering her were what he needed to know about. This girl had a thick English accent, which she did seem to have lost since being in America unless she was never around the Americans a lot which made no sense. Her name Opal it had a certain ring to it that made Alec feel something, something he couldn't explain. He told his patrol members to get back to the pack and inform the pack medic that he would be bringing in a girl that he needed checked out.

Alec knew some of the humans would wander the territory, but no one ever came with bite marks and no shoes and barely any clothing. "I'm going to take you somewhere safe. If you will let me it'll be faster if I shift." As a human Alec had his heightened senses and his strength, but he would never be as fast as his wolf form. He took a deep breath and let his bone crack and reshape, it was a painful process, but after a few years the pain becomes a dull ache. One thing that indefinitely separated the werewolves from the wolves was that they could show emotion through their eyes so his emerald eyes stayed the same as if he were human, shifting from her back towards the woods. Alec lowered his massive frame closer to the ground because knowing the girl's size and the fact that she didn't look like she had the strength to get onto Alec's back on her own he lowered himself down so she could easily get on. Alec's wolf had thicker fur than most of his pack allowing him to appear bigger, but he also stayed quite a bit warmer, which never came up unless they traveled north to the packs in the north to help or meet. Alec wasn't one to let humans use him as a pony ride, but this girl needed to get to his pack medic soon. He needed to know what was going on before Leon arrived at his house in about five hours.

Alec could tell she wasn't very strong by the way she was struggling to get on, but she made it. He felt her hands holding onto his fur and he was hoping she was ready as he jumped into a run. He was running through the woods and ducking under branches and over fallen logs and paying attention to where he was going, but he did hear her whisper. Who was them? Why would she ask not to be brought back to them? Alec wasn't going slow, actually he was going as fast as he could. It took him almost 10 minutes to go at full speed from the eastern border to his home where he told the pack medic to meet him. He figured that his house would be the safest for her considering it was the house that was the most well protected. It didn't look like it, but it was also equipped with a safe room where no one could find you if you were in there, vamp or werewolf, unless they knew the location of the room, which only a few pack members were trusted with that information. By the time he reached his house his beta had come out and lifted the girl off his back and took her inside where the medic was. Alec quickly followed and sat across from the doctor who was examining the girl. Alec wanted to know what happened and why this girl, Opal, was so afraid. "Opal, you can trust them. They are with me." he knew she might be a bit fearful of all of the men in the room, but he wanted to reassure her that no one would hurt her. He had his beta send a text to his sister to bring some of her old clothes over to his house and she agreed as she was going to get rid of some clothes anyway. His sister was bit taller and a tiny bit more filled out than this girl, but the clothes would work until she could go out and get her own.

"You amaze me, Skylar." Danny was not exaggerating either. Skylar challenged Danny, but she also made him a better person. She kept him from making some of the worst decisions of his life and he couldn't imagine if he had never met her. It was physically impossible for him to not think of her. His nerves were still firing as she traced his tattoo and he could barely keep his cool as everything in him just told him to kiss her, but he didn't want to move to fast. He didn't want to act like the stereotypical guy that was run by his lust. Danny wasn't like that. He didn't want Sky thinking that was how he was. He cared more about just being there for her rather than being with her in that way.

Alec was stunned by her response. He knew of seraphs from stories he was told, but he never actually met one considering they were supposed to no longer exist since the treaty was signed. He wasn't surprised by her revealing that, but only anger filled him. This violated the treaty his father set forth. The werewolves protected the humans from exactly this scenario. Alec felt his fist clenching, he knew he couldn't be reckless especially not now considering Leon would be here soon. He couldn't reveal that he found Opal or there would be war on both sides, but at this point his house reeked of the scents and a human was easily distinguishable in a house full of wolves. It wasn't safe for her here. At least not until Leon was gone. He didn't respond, but anyone with some sense could feel the anger coming off of Alec in waves. His beta, Drew had agreed to get Opal to his sister's house where she could be hidden and masked by the scents of other humans. His sister had become a nanny of sorts. Both human and werewolf would drop their children off and she would watch them, but he knew his sister also had a safe house, only because Alec requested that she would put one in. All werewolves in Alec's pack learned Latin, as it was safe to speak in the human world about the pack in Latin since no one spoke the dead language anymore. "Leon betrayed the treaty, Drew I want everyone on guard tonight. I want the children in the safe room with Opal at my sisters and everyone else will be on standby. If this comes to a fight tonight, I will not lose." Alec's speech came out in Latin rather than in English. He had always had a habit of his anger causing him to speak the werewolves native language. His tone softened as he turned back to Opal and the pack medic. "Opal you are not going back to Leon. You are staying here with us. My sister will keep you safe." his gaze shifted to the pack medic, Stephan. "Be ready if it comes to a fight." he only got a nod in a reply, but he knew Stephan understood what he had to do. With that his sister, Izzy came into the living room a stack of clothes in her hand. Alec grabbed the clothes from her and set them next to Opal as he went back a whispered to his sister. His sister seemed taken aback as she went over to Opal with sad eye and held a hand out to her. They needed to get back to Izzy's house where Opal could change and be kept safely as Leon would be arriving soon.

Alec had heard stories about Leon's thirst for power, but he also knew that Leon was blinded by the power that he gained. He knew that Leon couldn't know that Opal was here. She was right about that. "Don't worry Opal. Leon won't find you at my sisters, but I need you to put her clothes on, it will mask your scent. As far as my home the only thing they will be able to scent are wolves." he replied glancing over to his sister who nodded. "My sister will take you to her home and hide you in the safe room. Do not come out until Izzy or I come to get you. Open the door for no one." He nodded at his sister who approached Opal carefully as to not scare her. Alec wasn't dumb he knew the pack would be upset about going into another possible war and that he'd have to withdraw from the humans so they didn't get caught in the cross-fire, but there was something in the girl that he trusted and that he would fight and die to protect. Alec had never felt that way before.

"Opal please come with me. We need to get you inside the safe room before Leon comes." Izzy wasn't going to sugarcoat anything. That is not the way that she was, but she didn't know or understand why Alec was doing this for this girl. She knew the vamps having seraphs broke the treaty, but she also knew that treaty was the only thing that kept the werewolves from going extinct. Unfortunately werewolves were not immortal like vampires. They lived and died like the humans. They were at a disadvantage in that way. Izzy knew the war was inevitable, but it was so soon. The pack had only just reached a decent size and now they were going to enter back into the time when they were struggling to survive, but she trusted Alec to know what he was doing.

Alec had already moved into his office to do some work, leaving his sister and Opal alone. His beta had gone to make sure that the pack was ready. Alec had been working on getting everything ready. They didn't really need food, after all, it isn't like the vamps ate anything anyway. Alec knew by protecting this girl he was going to bring a never ending war back to his people and he was angry at himself for it, but he couldn't do much about it. Leon had brought this on himself by breaking the treaty. Alec knew he'd need to work on some pack business and alliances before the vampires arrived because at this point the more werewolves offering to come help their ally would be put to great use here since Leon had become somewhat of a king for all vamps. Leon's clan was the biggest and the strongest, most of the vampires took refugee with him, not many lived outside of Leon's protection.

Izzy was bit stunned when Opal switched her clothes without going into private, but she knew that this girl didn't have the same upbringing as herself or her brother. Izzy could only imagine how awful it must have been being a seraph for the bloodsuckers, but she didn't want to have a negative energy around Opal right now. "It's November 2020." It was starting to get cold out and she knew Opal's body condition wouldn't provide much warmth, but she also knew they needed to get to her house fast. "I hate to rush you, but the longer you stay in my brother's home the stronger your scent will be. We can't have Leon picking up on your scent so we need to go, now." Izzy had never had an urgent situation like this on her plate since her brother kept the peace so well that there was never any reason for Izzy to have much responsibility outside of her nanny job.

This girl definitely did not look 20, but Izzy herself was 21. Though being taller a more filled out because of the life she lived growing up made sure she looked tough, but her question puzzled her. Why was her brother going to all this trouble? Izzy really didn't have a clue. "I really don't know. Alec is my brother, but he is not a big feeling sharer." Izzy knew there was something else going on that she wasn't seeing. Her house was just down the road from her brothers, only about a three minute walk. Izzy had her safe room stocked with food and all of the essentials in case she ever needed to stay there for an extended period of time. "But I do know that Leon broke the treaty by having seraphs. Most alphas might turn a blind eye to just on seraph, but my brother seems to care for you." Izzy finally reached her house and opened the door, all of the children sitting around the tv, watching the movie she had put on for them. All of them would be gone in about 30 minutes, after all, she knew the parents would want their kids back.

There was a loophole? Izzy didn't read the treaty, but she trusted her brother to know what to do in this situation. "Honestly Opal, my brother has his reasons. If he is willing to fight to protect you there is something that he sees in you." said Izzy as she walked to the door letting the kids go on out of her house to go back home. Izzy and Alec had grown up in a stable home and it was such a calm family and home life, but the war was still going on, but Alec had to become the alpha so early in life and he had done surprisingly well despite the doubts that everyone had about him.

    [short i apologize]

Izzy could tell by her tone that she thought Leon would win in a fight against her brother, but Alec hasn't really ever showed off any of his skill. His father had trained Alec separate from the others because there were things only Alec could know. Izzy had never seen her brother fight, but in a training spar in which he easily defeat one of the best fighters in the pack. "Opal I wouldn't be worried about Alec. He's stronger than you know." she said quietly. She was always worried about her brother, but she knew that he knew his limits.
