Wolverine nodded while carefully leading the way through the now demolished compound.
"I want to thank you for accompanying me on this mission, Jean. I am sorry for dragging you into this and for only speaking of this just now. I was just worried, these girls are young and not deserving to be involved in all that has happened. Their whole life they have known nothing but betrayal and abuse. I had wanted to change that for them...yet it seems I have failed to even accomplish that much."
"I would not have been able to save her without you, you have my everlasting thanks." he added while gazing at Jean gratefully.
A few stray sparks from a piece of demolished machinery reminded Wolverine that they need to make haste as he worked to retrace his steps back to where he knew the vehicle they arrived in would be waiting.
I wonder how Angel is doing... he wondered to himself. I sure hope that she wasn't worrying too much, I am just glad I was able to keep my word and bring her friend back, even though she is wounded. But that can be fixed in time, and that is all that matters.
Once he was able to find his way out the compound, the sudden sharp pain the sun's rays brought to his head made the man wonder just how long he had been in there for. Hours? He hoped not too long, he promised Angel he would be back as soon as possible. With a sigh, he carefully placed Tris across the seats in the back his vehicle so that she may rest peacefully before climbing in the front and staring up the engine.
Gonna be a long trip back... He thought to himself.
