Noah quietly waited for his coffee, staring at the table blankly. He didn't want to glance back up at the girl, but his head instinctively turned and he found her staring at him too. Her cheeks were flushed and he gave her an awkward smile. Though he probably made it even more awkward with that, by acknowledging the fact that she'd been caught watching him.

The truth was, he was fascinated by the way she drew on her arm. He did that too. Except with a different sort of pen. It was his job to draw on people's skin, well, part time job. Though you wouldn't guess it from his looks, people often judged others and probably assumed a tattoo artist would be covered in tattoos, but he was unmarked.

The girl had finished the eye and had moved onto something else, but he had no clue what. From the angle he sat at he couldn't see what she was drawing now, but he felt curious, though it would be rude to pry. Even so, he wanted to know her name and so he stood up and moved over to her table. "Uh, hello. I'm Noah." he said with a smile. "I saw you drawing on your arm." ok, great. He just admitted to staring at her, could he be any more embarrassing?

    -•-NOAH-•-

She laughed, it reminded him of bells ringing in glee. He felt a little nervous, as he didn't often confront people like this at all. But she seemed to be handling it fine, despite being a bit flushed.

Noah hesitantly sat down on the seat that she had gestured to, watching her with his dark brown eyes. He scanned her skin, seeing the eye closer made it look even more amazing. And there on her skin he saw an unfinished picture of a boy, though he didn't realise that it was him that was drawn there.

"Nice to meet you Monti." he said politely, resisting the urge to simply remain in silence. That was rude, especially after the invite to sit down. "I like drawing on skin too." Noah blurted out. He didn't say that he was a tattoo artist though.

Matt didn't care about the lockdown of course, he sat there staring at the board with an empty expression. A longing expression. Ten minutes passed by but it felt like years, the clock ticking painfully slow.

The speaker came to life again, this time with the panicked voice of the principal. Once he heard that they were to evacuate school he was worried, the situation must indeed be dire. Except he still had no idea what it was. The scream chilled his bones, and the moan was no better. This definitely wasn't some high class prank, no, it seemed that their lives could be in danger. But he didn't know from what.

"Um, sir. How exactly are we going to get out without using the main halls?" he asked curiously, of course he would be the first one to speak. The first one to attempt to get some answers.

    -•-NOAH-•-

Immediately after he'd finished speaking Monti reached out for his arm, her fingers brushing his skin. It appeared that she was looking for some sort of doodle, or drawing that was upon his skin. But he was blank.

Noah was intrigued by this girl and how she worked. She giggled awkwardly and then his eyes widened in surprise as she pulled up the sleeve of her other arm. It was covered in drawings, like non permanent tattoos.

He smiled gently. "It's amazing." he said, entranced by the pen elegantly dancing across the surface of her skin. "Have you ever thought about getting any of those drawings to be permanent. Because I draw on people's skin you know, I'm a tattoo artist. Well, part time tattoo artist." Noah said, glad to have finally told her exactly what he did.

Matt nodded, glad to have kept things moving. He didn't know what there was to be frightened, but of course it was right urge the teacher along. If it really was that urgent then they probably should pick up the pace.

As soon as the ladder was found the teacher started helping the students. A girl went before him, and then Matt went, climbing out of the window fearlessly. He ignored the scream behind him, not daring to think about what was there. He could get answers later.

Matthew wasn't quite sure where to go, he was disorientated and confused. It was meant to just be a normal day, learning, being bored. As he rounded the corner to the front of the school he stopped in horror. It was unexplainable, the people mindlessly wandering the streets. They didn't seem to be alive, they were simply empty shells and he grimaced as some dug into the guts of what had once been a human. He shuddered in disgust, this was completely illogical. What were these impossible things?

He couldn't get home from here, it was too far on foot. His blue eyes scanned the area, searching for someone he knew. He spotted Gen, the girl from his biology class. It wasn't like he talked to her much, but maybe it was worth talking to her.

    [align=center]-•-NOAH-•-

He nodded, glad that she seemed so interested. The place where he worked wasn't doing so well at the moment. That was why he worked there whenever he could.

"How much? Well, it depends on where you want it and his big it is. But say if you want that eye you drew on your arm done, in black ink, it will probably only cost around $25-$50 dollars if you get it done by me, seeing as I only work part time I don't ask for too high prices. And since all your drawings are already there it would only be a matter of tracing it." he said. He hoped he hadn't scared her away with the price, unfortunately tattooing wasn't the cheapest thing ever. And it certainly wasn't painless, he just hoped that she'd be fine with the pain.
    [align=center]

Just as he began towards her she called out to him in a panic, to look out. He spun around, his hopeful smile disappeared and he simply froze in shock. Two of the stumbling corpses were right there behind him, reaching for him with mangled arms. He backed up a bit, carefully watching his step. A shriek broke his concentration and he saw Gen slip from the grasp of one of the things. He didn't even know what exactly to call them right now. He was still not processing it.

Matt saw the girl break into a run, it looked like she knew where she was going. He smiled, all he had to do was follow her. He'd be ok, so he broke into a run, his arms powering him forward. Thankfully he was reasonably fit, otherwise by now he'd be panting. As he continued to close in behind Gen he saw where she was headed, a barn. With each step they got closer. Hopefully she'd let him hide with her, though they didn't really know each other that well. She easily had to right to kick him out if she so wished. But he didn't want to be stuck out in the middle of the choas, so he decided to risk it.

She was going just as fast as him and he almost got left behind. His feet pounded on the pavement and it seemed that she heard him. She didn't open her mouth once as she beckoned him inside, he wasted no time and ducked inside before she locked the door. He sat on the floor for a moment, his heart thumping with adrenaline. His breaths came quick and he still felt a bit in shock, it all felt like only a second had passed since he was still in the classroom.

The girl from his biology class looked at him, obviously terrified. He gulped. "I honestly have no clue. I'm just as confused as you. I mean, it's beyond all possibility. Those things don't even seem human." he said, his voice panicked. He still couldn't shake the memory of the things eating humans, he couldn't stop seeing bloody guts spilled everywhere.

He never really talked this much to people, he was often quiet and reserved. But when talking to Monti he didn't mind so much, she seemed rather excited and she had been interesting from the start. He calculated the price in his head, though he only could estimate. "With colour it could cost around $75-$100 dollars." Noah declared, that sounded about right as it would take longer too. But he knew it was reasonable, some tattoos cost $600 dollars.

It was strange, he'd never heard someone say something like that. Even his boss viewed him as an amateur though his parents praised him on his work. But never had he had a request like this. "Sure, I could do your tattoo for you." he agreed, blushing as she leant forward a bit. He was amazed at his well this conversation was going, though he wasn't as good with conversations that didn't interest him. "So, if you do get this tattoo when do you want it done?" he questioned.

Gen surprised Matt as her face turned into one of panic and she rushed off. He sat there for a minute, confused by her sudden actions. But she came back soon enough with a radio. It was a smart idea, surely the news would be blowing up about this. He gently took the radio from her and sat it down in front of him. He was feeling better now, especially since they were taking the logical approach to this. That was good. As he switched through the stations the first few only held static. Then he found a couple with music playing, he stayed on those a little longer than the static ones but of course he continued on. Those obviously weren't news stations. And then he found one, and the person speaking was indeed talking about the problem. Though they called them zombies, something he'd been avoiding as zombies weren't real, they couldn't be. He tapped Gen on the shoulder and pointed to the radio, urging her to pay attention to the reporter as they stated talking. This would surely provide reliable information.

Noah was startled when Monti suddenly grabbed his hand, her hand was a warm and he smiled awkwardly. "Um, well, yeah. I am free right now." He said, he wouldn't ask any questions but he did hope that she had thought it through. He didn't usually get people asking for an appointment the exact same day that they asked for details. But he couldn't say no to her, her smile lit up her whole face. "But just let me get my coffee first," he added, thankfully he had ordered it take away today. He walked up to the counter, he hoped she still wasn't clinging to his arm, and accepted his drink from the barista. He gave them a tip and looked at Monti with his brown eyes gleaming. "Come with me, the tattoo place isn't far from here." He said and he exited the cafe, the coffee in his hand burning him. But he'd have to bear the pain for a bit.

    -•-NOAH-•-

Noah laughed along with Monti. "I must admit that you sound a little crazy." he joked. "But it's fine, you're very brave to even want to jump right into it." he said with a small smile. Normally he'd be fighting to even find words to say to others, but Monti was just easy to talk to. He felt at ease with her, he already felt like he could trust her.

It didn't take long till they reached a tattoo shop, "Ink Hearts". His boss really loved those books, and it still fit in well with the tattoo theme. He gave a comforting smile to Monti and he delicately took a sip of his coffee. He entered the store and nodded at his boss. "I've got myself a costumer." he said, indicating Monti. His boss simply nodded, working on someone of his own.

"Just sit in this chair," Noah told her, showing off the obviously comfortable leather seat.

    -•-NOAH-•-

Monti obediently sat herself down on the leather chair, she was clearly nervous but there was nothing he could say to make it better. He couldn't sugar cost this, he had seen some peopke even vomit due to the pain and panic. He'd witnessed so many different kinds of fear, depending on the person the fear would not be the same. He smiled as she traced the eye with her finger.

He silently prepared his tools, making sure he had the right inks for the job. He checked for clean paper towels and nodded, check. They would be for the probably bleeding. There always was a little red, he was of course ingravibg his art onto her skin for good. It had to become a part of the skin.

Noah turned to Monti. "I don't know how it feels personally, but I know that it hurts. So brave yourself." he said, gripping the tattoo ink pen. He didn't need a template today, she already had it on her arm and he just needed to trace it. He turned it on and started pressing it into her skin, moving it around in an eye shape. He wasn't rushing it, he couldn't because if he did he could ruin the tattoo and it would be stuck for a long time. He put a lot on concentration into his work, and each time he saw a spot of red he dabbed at it with a paper towel.

[align=center]Matt smiled at Gen before turning back to the radio. He listened intently to each shaky word that the reporter spoke, saving it to memory. He frowned, the entire stare? Whatever it was, it definitely was going out of control. And the 'zombies' were spreading to other states too it seemed. It made him uncomfortable, he hoped that they found out how it happened soon. But for now thee was nothing he could do. Just as the reporter was about to warn something the radio fizzled out into static and he sighed. He turned the radio off, just as Fen disappeared from the room. What on earth was that girl doing? His blue eyes widened when she returned with saddles and riding equipment. But the biggest shock was the horse that she brought out, were they really going to go out there. "I've only ever ridden once, but that was ages ago." he admitted. To be honest, horses scared him a bit. But he wasn't about to tell Gen that. "But it should be easy right?" he said confidently, getting up and moving over to the horse.

    -•-NOAH-•-

Noah didn't dare look up as he traced her drawing. But he was surprised that Monti didn't scream or squeal, she seemed to be handling the pain quite well. Though he could tell that her arm was tensed a little.

Whenever Noah got intensely focused on his work he stuck out his tongue, it was a subconscious habit. He finished off the last eyelash and set the black ink pen down, switching it off. Now he looked up at Monti, giving her a reassuring smile as he wiped off the red and made sure the tattoo was dry. "Now I just have to add the colour." he said.

Noah selected a brilliant blue ink this time, he was going to do the centre of the eye. He turned it on again and pressed once more against the Monti's skin. The colour always hurt a bit more because he had to colour a whole section. He continued on that one section for a while, switching out with different colours to add more details. He loved adding intricate little details. And then finally he reached out for the white, ready to do the eye white. This was the final part and he went over it carefully, he was doing his absolute best on this. Never before had he wanted to impress someone so much.

He finished up, around an hour had passed. Tattooing was no easy task, but he admired his work afterwards, making sure to rub off the penned eye. "There you go Monti, a successful tattoo." Noah noted, reaching out a hand to help her up. "Now, that is $80." Usually he would've charged one hundred but he had decided to give her a bit of a discount. He didn't want it to end with her going though, honestly, she was so interesting.

Matt nodded at Gen, still a little overwhelmed. Well, at least this horse would be an easy ride. He stroked the side of Cal gently, accepting the reigns from Gen as she rushed about. She definitely didn't rush around, where as he liked to ponder things.

He could tell that she was anxious, darting around like a mouse being tailed by a cat. He honestly didn't feel the need to put so much energy into it. They were fine for now, they could've at least gone a little slower. But he didn't want to argue with her.

"Riding the back trails to a couple towns down sounds good," He said, running his hand through his brown hair. He then could probably take a quick look at what had happened around him. He was so curious that he could practically feel his curiosity becoming a living being that forced him outside. "Alright, ready?" he asked, keeping a firm hold on the reigns.

Once they left the shelter there was no going back, not with a few zombies now heading towards them. Their walking was slow and rigid, a dead corpse trying to steady itself with each step. Matt quickly clambered onto his horse, remembering to swing his leg over. He was glad that he knew how to sit on a saddle at least. He nodded at Gen, surprisingly not really worried about the advancing bodies. He gave Cal a kick in the side, gentle and yet incredibly firm at the same time. The horse started off, obviously a little nervous about the zombies. But as Gen had said he followed the horse in front of him, sticking to the trail. As they headed down further the zombies began to thin out, there definitely would be a lot fewer round here. He assumed that most of them would be in the town for now. Which was good for them. He kept silent, not really wanting to start a conversation at first.

    Madeira Leana Dunnett
    20

It had been weeks since she'd last seen Lily. And the longer they spent apart the more she knew that she didn't want to stay like this, an awkward silence and a blank space. They hadn't spoken for awhile, had barely kept in contact for the past weeks that had flown by. Though for Madeira it had been a crawl, a long drag. She missed hearing the voice of the one she loved, and the only reason for it was because of anger.

A fight had broken out of course, and an argument as large as theirs was, it was no wonder they had taken a break. Maddie hated remembering it, the raw emotion as it built up and fired out through both of them. The reason for it was barely a concern in her mind. All she kept repeating in her head was the moment she'd picked up a vase close by her side and had thrown it, ending both the fight and their relationship.

The girl winced, no, that was wrong. They were not broken up just yet, they were just taking a needed break.

She continued walking, her blonde and pink hair bouncing in its ponytail. Each step was quick and eager, and she continued to pick up the pace as she neared the home of Lily. She was going to do this, going to make it up to her and apologise.

She held a box of chocolates in one hand and some flowers in the other, it wasn't a proper apology without some gifts.

A sliver of a smile broke across her face as she knocked on the door with her flowers hand, careful not to crush them in the process. "Hey! It's Maddie!" she called out happily, waiting for a second.

There was no immediate reply and she suddenly got a sense that something was seriously wrong...
