    Chapter One

In the forest a family of owls lived in a huge tree. The oak tree had a large hollow, there was the nest of the birds. In the nest sat a single owlet. His fidged with excitement as listened to his friend, a short-eared owl named Lyte. Lyte had recieved his name because of his strangly light colored feathers.

Sorry, i cant copy the fancy post. Here i will put my "copy" of it:
    Night
Night the time of day when light turns dark.
Dark of which the stars shine through,
    Shining stars of brightend light.
    Time when the owl hoots,
Or the wolf howls to the full moon.
When the bat flys through the thick woods,
And screetches from time to time,
    Hunting for its next meal.
The point of day when all is unseen,
    But the crickets are heard.
The sound of summer nights is the loud cricket chirps,
And is the catching of lightning bugs.
The flashes of light that float before you,
Reaching out to the air and feeling of little feet on hand.
Look at the little blinking bug,
    Then let it go again.
Night, the best time of day!

    Summer in the Woods
Penolope ran as fast as her short little legs could go. The tan hedgehog was playing a game with a small sparrow she met. Penolope looked around, a bush was a short dash in front of her. "Perfect!" she thought. The little hedgehog needed a break from running away from her fast flying friend. The soft leaves brushed against her semi-soft spikes. The bush's leaves made pretty patterns of shade and sun light. Finally she could relax for a minute! Brownie flew around the little area where they had been playing tag, she looked around for her friend. The summer air was hot, but the soft breeze cooled her off a bit. There were many bushes in the place and Brownie knew her friend would be in one of them. Penolope had now caught her breath and was ready to run again, maybe she would stay here though. Brownie flew down like a sparrow can to dive into a bush with out getting hurt. "Penolope? Are you here?" she asked. No answer came, not even a rustle. " she's not here." Brownie decided. Meanwhile, Penolope shook and her spikes spread out. Her little face poked out from under the leaves to see where her friend was. No sign of Brownie could be found since she was checking another bush. Penolope dashed out of the hide-out and into the taller grass. Here she was hidden but not as well as in the bush. Brownie continued her search and finally got to the bush where her friend had been recently. "Penolope, you have to be here! Come out!" she said. Exiting the bush and going to the other side she saw something. A trail leading into the tall grass! "Penolope! That's where you went." she thought. The sparrow flew over the tall grass expossing herself to the boiling hot sun of summer. A stronger breeze hit her in a wave, a river was becoming nearer. Penolope had reached the river bank where soft summer grass now grew. The grass was short from people sitting on it and things like that, so Penolope could walk over it easily. The bank of the river was sand and stone mixed together to form a little beach-like place. People, deer, hedgehogs, birds and lots of things would use this little beach to go swimming in the warm weather all the time. With a shallow, a little over ankle deep, part of the water, this was definatly one of Penolope's favorite places all year round. Summer for swimming, spring for flowers, winter for ice-skating and fall for sending leaf boats down river. But summer was always the best time of year to Penolope! Brownie arrived at the river bank. The little brown bird flew down gently and landed in a patch of bullrushes, she flew up to the top of the sturdiest one and looked around. The veiw was pretty with the summer green trees and blooming flowers, but Brownie had to find Penolope. "there she is!" Brownie thought excitedly when she saw the hedgehog starting to enter her favorite shallow spot in the water. She fluttered down into the water by her friend. "found you!" she said. "i won! I got to the water first!" Penolope said. "i thought we went racing." Brownie said quite confused. "we were." the tan hedgehog told her. She splashed the sparrow, "i won again!" she said. "what did you win? By splashing me you won?" Brownie said still confused. "i won because." she said before she dove under the water to escape her friend splashing her. The cold water stuck down her spikes and made her look even small than she was. Brownie's splash missed, it created ripples on the water. She dove under and came right back up. Her feathers didnt let her sink, then swim like Penolope could do. Penolope resurfaced and swam back to the little beach, Brownie followed her back easily. Sitting on the warm rocks of the beach Penolope ran back into the water. Cooling off again, she laid down on the grass letting the hot sun warm her up. Brownie splashed in the water still trying swim, she was making huge splashes and the drops hit Penolope. "I love summer." she said.

    Snow Leopard Sledding
Snow fell lightly around the pine mountains. White flakes of cold, beutiful, and shimmering snow dropped slowly and silently from the open sky. The pine trees were coated in snow already, so the flurries didnt make much of a difference to the trees. This was were the pine trees grew taller than any where in the warm. This was were flurries fell almost every day. Here, the cold could have chilled you to the bone. Though the sun was high in the sky, it gave barely any heat off to the creatures that lived there. Snow leopards were one of the few that could survive. Snow and her family being some of them. Snow paced around her home up in the cold. She lived with her mom and dad, which was little unusual for snow leopards. She wanted to jump and run today, or slid down Big Hill, or climb! Today she would do something that she didnt do every day, today she would slid down Big Hill as fast as she could. The snow leopard raced home kicking up snow dust behind her fast moving legs. Snow's white-gray fur blended in to the rocky and snowy background of her home. "mom! Dad! Can i go down Big Hill?" she shouted to her parents. "yeah, go grab the board!" her mom said back. The board was a huge piece of flat wood that they used as a sled in the freezing winter snow. When the wet, white fluff melted on the snow leopards the resault was much like the human resault. This was the fact that water out in the cold was not the best feeling. Yet, every one knows that with snow comes play in it, and playing in the snow is bound to get you wet. Snow ran to the big tree where her family kept the board. The snow didnt fly up from behind her feet this time like the last. Back here by the tree was where she played every day when she wasnt icescooting, sliding down Big Hill, or something else fun that required a different place to be. The packed snow let her run faster than normal to get the board from behind the tree. One low-lying branch hung above the board. It was covered thickly in snow and looked ready to fall off the tree at any moment, or movement. Snow reached under the branch carefully, her body was completely in the snow. The snow touched her skin after it soaked through her thick fur, exactly what she was trying to avoid. She closed her eyes and tried not to stand up and shake off the clinging snow that stung her stomach. She couldnt help but stand up, right into the branch covered thickly in snow. It dumped the harsh snow on her entire body, even on her face. Snow's eyes stung as the snow fell into them, her nose sneezed from the flakes entering it, her paws stood frozen to the ground, her tail pinned to the ground, and worst of all her back was covered in snow so much that she looked like a floating head. Her sledding board lay at her feet, "atleast i got the board!" she muttered to herself in a fake cheering way. This day wasnt going so good yet. Snow arched her back and shook, most of the snow fell off. She shook again and the rest of the snow fell off her back. The stinging snow was gone, but the feeling still remained on the leopard's back and stomach. She shivered and streched again to try to get rid of this awful feeling of intense cold. Snow walked the few steps to her board and grabbed the lip on the edge in her large mouth. Over time she had carved a groove into one end of the board and would always use this side to pick it up. No snow had settled in the groove so her mouth was spared the cold stinging. She shook again hoping the cold would go away and stop stinging, but still, it didnt. "mom! Dad! Im ready to go sliding!" she shouted, her mouth was muffled by the sled. Her parents had heard a more comical verision, "mhm! Dahd! Mm rebday tah go sliid ding!". Her dad walked over to her first, "you're ready to go sliid ding?" he asked her as a joke. "ss-lie-ding." she responed ennouciating every major sound in the word. Her mom now walked out too. "ready?" she asked to every one there. "yes." and "come on! Lets go!" came her enthusiastic answers. The family walked to the Big Hill, Snow stopped walking when she saw Big Hill though. She burst into a full speed run to the edge of the hill where it became much steeper than the rest of the entire hill. This was where she would go as fast, or faster, than any snow leopard ever did or could! Her mind was set on this so much that the snow on her skin no longer bothered her. All that bothered her was that she had not slid down this huge, steep, record breaking, amazing hill. Her mind raced with the possiblitlies of how fast she could go. How soon she could go. How great it would be to be the fastest sliding snow leopard there ever was! "can i go? Can i go? Can i go?" she hollard to her far away parents. She could see them in the distance, the sun made her veiw hard to tell how clos they were though. "go ahead!" they yelled back to her. This was it, Snow was sitting on her sled, the hill covered in untouched white fluff that soon would have a pressed path running down it. She closed her eyes and put her paws back, she reopened her eyes to the hill. Was it steep enough? Yes. Would she make it? Only one way to find out! Snow's paws pushed and at first she slid slowly down the flatest part of the hill. The increase now sped her sled up a little, the snow flew up into her face and her eyes. The wind pushed it against her face as she continued down. The hill became steeper and steeper as her sled raced down. Small snowflakes hit her face before, now larger pieces hit her. These ones were quater sized and dangerous to her sight. One of these massive snowflakes hit her left eyes right as she was about to go down the steepest part of Big Hill. She closed her eyes and tried to blink it out, but the cold stung the sensitive eye. She shook head and swerved a bit to the left then the right. The snow leopard was losing control of the sled at the worst time possible. She closed both eyes and lifted a paw to her face to remove the snowflake. It was gone. The snowflake had melted in her eye and stung it, she still rubbed her eye. The sled meanwhile turned to the right and went off track. Snow dipped her paw to the ground. She dug her paw into the snow and she skidded to a stop, not her though, the sled. She continued rolling down the hill for a few seconds at a slow rate. She had made it down the hill! Snow had just set the record for fasted sledding down Big Hill.

I think this is a wonderful story, except when reading the produlog i noted this "he spat, his fox-colored pelt shining" seems blocky. Fox-red was used twice in a close way, in one paragraph and the next. Try "he spat, his fox-coloredred-orange pelt shining" instead. It would seem less redundant.
