Esteri takes after both her father and mother. In new environments, she is generally solitary and quiet, preferring to observe and listen, although she will respond if spoken to. She tends to analyze first in most situations, then act, although there are exceptions. Like her father, she is kind and sympathetic, although unlike her father, this side of her is not seen as much around other people, and she does not express it verbally often. Her father is also more gentle and amiable, than she.
Once Esteri is comfortable enough around others, her other side emerges. She is more openly talkative, curious and friendly. Her competitive streak also rears itself, as she loves a good challenge of any kind. When around others she is at ease with, she also becomes kinder and sweeter, showing the caring side she inherited from her father.
Despite all this, she is still very private. Even when talkative, she rarely discusses deep personal matters or feelings. If she is struggling with something, it is unlikely she will share her problems, simply because she does not like to. It takes much prodding and a close bond before she is willing to open up. Instead of talking with people, she often talks to animals, not to communicate, but simply so she has someone who will listen to her but not reveal any secrets. Despite how much of a people person she may seem, she is an introvert and loves her alone time. She can become very irritable if she has to be around others for long periods, and has lashed out before, although she tries to control herself.Thanks to her mother, goddess of night, she is also excellent at concealing herself in the dark and often unintentionally startles others because she is so quiet.

She’s rather naive and gullible, because too often she wants to believe the best of people and help others. She’ll give the wrong people second chances, or trust people she probably shouldn’t. Because she always wants to help people, she can get in trouble if she’s manipulated.
She also has a huge thing for injured creatures of any kind, dangerous or not. Even against better judgement, she will usually try and help an injured animal. Something this is good, sometimes not so much.

Her father, Terrence was a kind and gentle man who grew up on a farm, surrounded by animals. In his late twenties, he left his home to move to the city when he got a job offer there as an accountant. Unfortunately, he quickly discovered that despite his success, he had no love for his job, and after saving some money, opened his own business of sorts, caring for and rehabilitating animals. He would take in stray animals off the streets and find them proper homes, although many he kept with him. During this time, he met a beautiful and mysterious young woman, who seemed to be able to calm and get along with even the most rough and vicious dogs. The two fell in love, and eventually had a child. However, not long after, she disappeared, leaving only a note explaining that she could no longer stay.
Crushed and confused by her disappearance, he raised his daughter by himself. He named her Esteri, after the stars. Early on, he chose to try and homeschool her because he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. From a young age, she had a strong connection with dogs and cats, and helped her father with his work.
Feeling guilty that her mother left, he tried everything possible to make her happy, even going so far as to give up many of his desires. Her first interest was gymnastics, and it was one that stuck with her. Terrence worked hard to ensure he could pay for her classes. Thanks almost entirely to her father, and help from her grandparents, she lived a fairly comfortable life. However, when she turned twelve, a group of robbers attacked her while she was walking a dog. Although she escaped unharmed (unbeknownst to her, this was due in part to her magic), her father became fearful and paranoid of losing her, and forced her to enroll in a variety of self defense and fighting classes. Not long after, monster attacks began to happen as her somewhat dormant powers grew.
It was then that Hecate returned one day, while Esteri was out. She told Terrence the truth, and explained about Camp Half Blood, where Esteri could be safe. She was both elated and frustrated to discover the truth. Excited, because she thought the idea was pretty cool, but frustrated because her mother broke her father’s heart.
At the age of 13 and a half, she made the trip to Camp Half Blood. In order to ensure her safe arrival, her mother gifted her with a Stygian Hound, which she has the ability to summon at will.
She trained there for nearly three years, learning about everything, from fighting to healing. She took special interest in learning about different poisons. During her third year, with the help of others at Half Blood, she had a special blowgun created. It was a mount for a small Celestial Bronze knife, and she carries multiple darts with her wherever she goes.

And they have to choose what to do.
