"I used to live here, when I was little." The woman lied smoothly, deciding that it would give here a good cover story as to why she was here, and it wasn't entirely a lie. She had been there when she was younger, spent quite some time there in fact. But that didn't matter, her reason to be here was very important, and she had come a very long way to get here.

[short reply ^^' I'm still a bit brain dead]

J tilted his head to the side thoughtfully. She was lying. It was an awfully good lie however, one he might not have noticed if he had been less attentive. But he also didn't really care to much that she had lied to him, after all he was a stranger. What he did want to know was why she lied, and what she was covering up. "So what brings you here then?" he asked, not really hiding his curiosity. (That's okay.)
    He looks like this:

Alice smiled "Just reminiscing." She replied shortly with a little shrug "Got some time off work, I was in the area, I decided 'Why the heck not? Y'know?" She said, wondering why this mattered to the man. Maybe he was just making conversation, she'd started after all. Keep a lie simple... A small voice in the back of her mind reminded her- She was weaving an entire fake life at the moment. The problem was to give just enough information to make it natural, but not so much that you'd forget something crucial. What have I said about getting in my mind? She responded, not a flicker of surprise showing on her expression. This little 'Visitor' in her mind was a normal occurrence these days, and he- she assumed it was a he- never seemed to cause any harm. Just dropping in for a bit.

"That sounds pleasant." he replied truthfully. Still, she was lying again. It made him even more intrigued as to why. Past experience with humans always led him to realize that when they lied, it was to cover something, usually something interesting. He could read her and find out, but he didn't really want to. It was far more fun to find out on his own. "Perhaps I could accompany you? If you don't mind that is." he added, wondering how she would respond.

This time, it seemed to be partially true. She was meeting someone, possibly a man, although not for a date, he suspected. He grinned slightly, shrugging it off. "Well then, in that case, I'll leave you to your meeting." Not that he intended to. In actuality, he would merely follow her to her destination. It would give him something to do, maybe even meet a few new people, something he always liked to do, as sort of a hobby. "Enjoy your date." he said with a wave, before turning away.

J gave her a smile and turned away, acting as if he was going where she suggested. "Thanks, I'll check it out!" he called over his shoulder. He stepped into an alleyway and peered around the corner, watching her go. He could follow her wherever she was headed, see what she was up to. It would be a learning experience, as far as he was concerned. Besides, he might find out something useful as well.

J watched her, staying back more than enough so he wouldn't be spotted. Who was she going to meet? He mused to himself. He crept across the open space, realizing it would be fairly easy to spot him, even as far away as he was. Oh well, this was some form of 'free country', so technically he supposed he could walk where he wanted to. Besides, something was a bit off about this girl from other humans. He wanted to know what.

(im making half this up as i go whoops)

Alarms and warning lights were flashing incessantly as Topaz attempted to regain control of her damaged ship. The tiny Cruiser was built for casual space travel, not fleeing from a Homeworld Destroyer ship. Her only advantage rested in the agility of her ship. It was lighter, faster and easier to maneuver. She dodged another beam of light, barely. If she could hold out until the short range teleporter was charged, she could get away. She glanced at the meter- 95%. Just little longer... just as it hit 100%, everything exploded. A blast from the Homeworld ship tore a hole in the side of her ship. She was thrown into the wall, just as her ship teleported. A crack crawled along the her ships hull and warning message flickered on the HUD.

'Engine compromised, reaction imminent.' her eyes widened in terror. If the ship exploded with her inside, the force could be enough to shatter her gem. She raced to the escape pod and forced the warped door open. She had barely sealed the hatch before shudder wracked the pod and she was thrown into the wall. Before she could strap herself in, the pod began to tumblr wildly, throwing her around like a ping pong ball.

The rural Earth forest was quiet and peaceful, utterly undisturbed save for nocturnal creatures. The midnight sky was awash with twinkling stars and far off planets. Out of seemingly nowhere, a glowing blue streak lit up the sky like a shooting star. It arced down towards the forest until it crashed to the ground with a an earth shaking rumble. In the smoking wreckage, what appeared to be a small bluish pod of some sort lay amid the broken tree branches and gouged up earth. It was vaguely oval shaped, with a small window at the wide end. Through the window, a small rectangular orange gemstone could be seen resting inside.

(Also this is weirdly long normally my starters or short whatever)

[its perf. boy i miss rping]

It was early in the morning, just after dawn, when the orange gemstone began to glow. It sparkled, floating into the air for a moment before a glowing white form expanded from it. The form was humanoid and roughly 5 and half feet tall. The white glow faded away, revealing a strange looking feminine figure.

She had deep orange hair that vaguely resembled a candle flame. Her skin was pale yellow and her eyes were deep amber that faded to orange. She wore a black vest and leggings, with combat boots. Her vest and leggings sported lighter gray patches that gave it a sort of scuffed appearance. At the base of her neck, just above her chest, rested the orange gemstone.

Normally, she took at least a few days to regenerate, depending. But she was worried about being found by the Homeworld gems. Speaking of which, where was she? She blinked and looked around. It definitely wasn't her escape pod. She was in some sort of strange shelter. Strange looking objects rested on shelves lining the walls. She paused and examined them. Definitely not gem related. At least it wasn't jail. Still, where was she?

She examined the strange piece of paper with the picture on it.
"What manner of creature is this?" she wondered out loud. It was four legged and very hairy. It didn't look like any species she'd heard of. She set the picture down. Enough messing around. it was time to try and find out where she was.

[Im still not sure of her gem placement but chest seems to fit bc she's more emotional than logical and loyalty feels like a matter of the heart so. i picture it being slightly higher up than amethysts tho]

(for some reason the line "touching her stuff" in incredibly amusing to me. Also YES clavicle that where it is.)

Topaz's head jerked towards the voice. She stared in surprise at the source of the noise. A strange creature that looked much like her, at least in body shape, was standing in front of her. Was this... was this perhaps one of the species she learned about on Homeworld? A human? Did that mean she ended up on Earth? She glanced back at the picture that the girl referred to. Apparently it was a dog, whatever that was.

As the human took a few steps towards her, she took a wary stance. She didn't recall if they were dangerous or not. When the human touched her gem however, she swatted its hand away, glaring at her. "Don't touch me!" she cried out indignantly. "And it's... not exactly attached its part of me. It's complicated." She clenched her fists and glared at the human female. For a moment, she was worried that her gem was damaged, but it seemed the human had only touched it, not attacked it in any way.
"Who are you? And where am I?" she demanded.

Topaz paused to absorb all the information. Aella. A bit of an unusual name, but then again most names that were not gems sounded strange to her. Being called a pretty rock made her pause. This human was entirely clueless. She had heard of the Crystal Gems, but apparently this human had not. She couldn't decide if that was good or bad.

As for South American Rainforest, she didn't know where that was, except for that it had to be somewhere on Earth. She snorted. "You're 'pretty flippin weird'." she replied. "Anyways, I'm a-" she paused, thinking back on what little research she had done on Earth. "alien, as, your species calls it." The full explanation was too complicated, in her opinion. Besides, she wasn't sure if the human, or Aella, would believe her. "Where did you find me?" Perhaps the escape pod wasn't too badly damaged. If she could repair it, she could use it in case the homeworld gem returned. Or perhaps she should stay where she was, and stay hidden.

(I like that idea lots tbh. I was also thinking further on maybe the homeworld gems show up or maybe theres an issue with a corrupted gem but ye, thats for later.)

Topaz rolled her eyes and shook her head. "My name isn't alien. It's Topaz." she grumbled irritably. Granted, Aella couldn't have known that.

As for trees... she hadn't actually had the opportunity to do a lot of tree climbing. Even on other planets. But she could shapeshift. She looked out the window, watching for a few moments. A colorful bird of sort flew by the window. A moment later her form shifted into a small orange bird with a gem on its chest.

"I can manage trees." she said. She could hold her shapeshifts longer than some gems, but she still couldn't do it forever. She wondered how Aella got around the forest. She didn't have wings. And Topaz didn't think humans could shapeshift.
"What about you?" she said after a moment, feeling somewhat puzzled.

    (Neato)

Topaz grinned inwardly and spread her wings, flapping after Aella. It was a bit awkward, flying in this Earth bird form, but she adjusted quickly. She kept her eyes peeled for any snakes, although she wasn't worried. Snakes, from what she remembered, were hardly warriors. She was certain she could fight one.

Her attention was quickly distracted by watching Aella. The way she moved across the trees was fascinating, leaping from branch to branch. She knew many gems who were agile, but she hadn't realized humans were so agile. She flapped her wings harder until she was flying alongside Aella.
"How did you learn to do this?"

Topaz watched Aella stutter, wondering for a moment if she would fall. Could humans survive a fall from this high? She didn't think they were as resilient as gems. She was rather relieved when Aella recovered and kept moving.

Topaz remained quiet for the rest of the time, and instead took in the scenery. It was rather alien to her. Tall trees with thick twisting branches and dangling vines were everywhere. Colorful plant life and animals darted about. It was amazing. The sight of the broken branches and churned up Earth drew her from her thoughts.

She dropped to the ground before shifting back to her original form. She had to admit, she missed the feeling of flying. She had flown plenty of times before, both on a ship and with shapeshifting, but it didn't stop her from liking it any less. As she walked towards the pod, checking the ground for any bits of wreckage, she spoke. "Still didn't answer my question. How did you learn to move like that?"

Upon reaching the pod, she examined it closer. The outside was banged up and scraped up pretty bad, but it seemed mostly okay. What concerned her most was where a chunk of shrapnel, presumably from the cruiser, had torn into the pod. She frowned and examined it closer, peering into the inch wide gash. The tear itself she could probably weld back together. Internally, however, it seemed that the part of one of the thrusters was damaged.
"Great. Just what I need." she muttered angrily under her breath.
