Pinekit looked behind her shoulder. She growled, and put in a surprising burst of speed. She knew that she was much slower, but she fell into a hole. She darted into a tunnel and crouched there, listening for Crookedshadow. She followed the tunnel, admiring the way it was built. Pinekit happily saw a light, and burst out of the tunnel. She looked around her. No scent. She peered over a hill in front of her and saw the lake, and knew she was outside Clan territory.

Float had closed her eyes. She was sniffing, choking back tears about her precious kit and the mate she loved.

Pinekit shivered. She looked around the hollow she found to shelter from the rain. She saw a tunnel, and followed it. She smelled cats, but they weren't enough scent to identify who it was. As she got deeper, she smelt Rainbowdott and Float. Not wanting to see them, she stay were she was. Just her luck (sarcasm), a breeze blew through the tunnel and and carried her scent towards the two she-cats.

Pinetail rolled her eyes and looked back at the apprentice. "I don't care what you do, kit." Pinetail lunged at the apprentice, grabbing her scruff. She dragged her over the border, and carried her down to the lake. With her jaws, and held her bottom teeth just above the precious part of the neck, the one that controls life and death.

Pinetail looked angrily at Foxpaw. "You can go, but I warn you," she leaned in close to Foxpaw. "If you say a single word about this, you will be on our fresh-kill pile." Her awful ShadowClan breath wreathed into Foxpaw's nostrils, making her choke.

Pinetail narrowed her eyes. "My leader isn't Serpentstar. Before you think you can go wandering anywhere, make sure you have the Clan right. Serpentstar died a quarter moon ago. Thornstar is leader now. We won't like you visiting ShadowClan. Now tell me the message and leave."

Pinetail laughed. "I wouldn't KILL you out of this world!" Pinetail narrowed her eyes. "I would kill you off my territory, though." She smiled again. "I think I will tell Thornstar about our little talk, eh?"

Pinetail whirled around. "This has nothing to do with you, Thornstar. She was just leaving."
Thornstar shrugged and padded back into the woods, stopping to picked up Pinetail's catch.
Whirling back to Lilyheart, she mewed. "Take the apprentice and leave. Before I kill you both." Pinetail kicked the limp, waterlogged apprentice and whirled away into the evil shadows of ShadowClan territory.

Foxpaw coughed. "Stop fussing, Lily. It was a stupid mistake. I was watching Pinetail. The sparrow was on ShadowClan territory, but when she leaped, she caught it and landed on ThunderClan territory. She picked it up and killed it on ShadowClan territory. That's when Berrypaw called out 'Prey-stealing'. I walked out and let Pinetail work it out on me instead." Foxpaw coughed again, laying her head on the stones. "I wish I could die in my nest instead of on ShadowClan territory." Coughing, she mewed quietly. "You will find others." She closed her eyes, her breathing ragged, blood spilling out on the stones, her waterlogged pelt drying in untidy clumps.

Foxpaw looked up at Lilyheart. She was confused, then saw her mother, Petaltail, padding towards her. "Petaltail? Why are you here?" Her mother looked at her, with her green eyes shining. "I am sorry. You were never meant to be born. But welcome to StarClan, my precious kit." Foxpaw looked at her fur. It tingled with shining stars. Sighing, Foxpaw looked at Lilyheart. She whispered in her ear, "It was not murder, my good friend. We will meet again in StarClan."
