IC- Juniper lay back against the branch of the tree she'd climbed. In her hand was some sort of shotgun that she'd picked up in an abandoned village pretty far away from here. Juniper's older brother, Fergus, would never let her use it. Apparently thirteen was too young to handle guns. Not that Fergus was around to tell her off for it anymore, mind you. Juniper fought against the tears that threatened to spill from her azure visionaries at the thought of her brother. Crying over his death was useless. Besides, it wasn't like she was the only one who'd lost family.
The girl needed to find a group. She knew being out here alone was too dangerous. But who in their right minds would take in a thirteen-year-old that didn't even know how to use a gun properly? Juniper was as good as dead the moment she lost Fergus.
Her mind was suddenly interrupted by a rustling sound. Peering cautiously down from the tree, Juniper forced back a yelp a shock. Heading toward her tree, and already alarmingly close, was a group of three or four zombies. The girl froze.
Juniper, the gun! Use the damn gun! she silently yelled at herself.
She fumbled with the gun and aimed as best she could before pulling the trigger.
The force of the shot launched Juniper backwards, out of the tree and landed painfully on her left ankle. The immediate, immense pain was accompanied with an equally overwhelming panic. She'd only fired once, and had probably missed anyway. That meant there were at least two zombies still coming toward her. Juniper's gun was nowhere to be seen and she knew she would not be able stand up. She was helpless, defenseless.
'HELP! SOMEBODY HELP!' Juniper screamed at the top of her lungs, praying for anyone to hear.[color=black]
