Accepted! I'll make the roleplay thread tomorrow after school. c:

Bearstar exited his den at dawn and peered down into the camp, which was still in shadow. He sat on the ledge outside his small cave. The large tom bushed his thick fur out; the rocks were cold in the mornings, yet another sign that leaf-bare was fast approaching. But they should have a few moons yet before the first snows.

Fleckface was having a dream he was hunting in the cave system. This meant, of course, that everything in the dream was pitch black, but the familiar scents and sounds of the underground colored it for him, in a manner of speaking. The tom's silver paws twitched in his sleep.

Pantherpaw was already wide awake, grooming herself in the apprentice den. She was hoping to get out early to train with her mentor. The black she-cat could tell from the absence of the usual echoing meows and pawsteps that hardly anyone was up yet, which meant she still had time.

The RP thread is up and I've updated the first post with links and cat info! I'll be putting the chat thread up in a minute too. I've also assigned mentors. If it's okay with everyone, Fleckface is mentoring Owlpaw and Lionpool is mentoring Pantherpaw. :3

Also, I'm obviously still accepting cats! So more people can definitely join.

Okay so I would start with a basic character bio, just for appearance and stuff. I prefer to let personality develop in rp (in roleplay), but you could describe that too if you wanted. Other than that, here's the basic stuff I put down:

    Name:
    Gender:
    Year:
    House:
    Blood:
    Appearance:
    Wand:
    Pet:
    Backstory:

I'll fill in my actual character later once I come up with stuff. And you don't need tomake yours this detailed if you don't want to, or you can put even more stuff like personality/familial status and relationships/etc. This is just what I usually do.

Okay, acronyms! OOC means "Out of character". It's usually used when someone wants to talk to someone as themselves in a roleplay thread when someone doesn't want to interrupt the roleplay. For example, right now we're in ooc because we're not actually roleplaying on our roleplay thread. IC means "in character" and is used to switch back into roleplay mode. "RP" means roleplay. I think I've seen people use "op" to mean overpowered. I don't know anymore off the top of my head but if you come across more I'll probably know them.

    Name: Vivian McClure
    Gender: Female
Year: 1 or 5 whatever you decide
    House: Slytherin
    Blood: Muggleborn
Appearance: Short spiky black hair. Grey eyes.
Wand: Cedar, dragon heartstring, sturdy, 11 1/4 inches
    Pet: Barn owl named Mercury
Backstory: Normal muggleborn upbringing, basically. She made random magic things happen occasionally and no one had any idea what was going on. Also she's a parselmouth.

You don't need to fill out the backstory if you don't want! And yeah we can start at year 1 if you think it would be easier. I don't really mind either way! :3

How do you feel about "extra" powers? Parseltongue, animagus, metamorphmagus, seer, veela ancestry, half-anythings, etc etc.

Cool my character's gonna be a Parselmouth (i'm guessing you saw that coming? xD)

Okay, let's start at 5 then!

The picture of your character didn't show up as an image but the link was there so I could view it. The forums here also run on BBC code, so to make them show up you put img tags around the image url.

Also, we decided to do the "next dark lord" on the rise thing, right? How far after the series do you want it to take place? I would usually go for like 100 or something if it was a group rp to stop people from playing canon characters and messing them up, but since it's just us it can be closer to Harry's time if you like.

OOC: All right! I guess I'll just start with the train about to leave? They can share a compartment or something hehe.

IC: Vivian heaved her trunk into a compartment near the end of the train. She had to stand on her toes to push it into the luggage overhead. Once it was up, she lifted her owl's cage up and slumped into a seat. Her grey eyes traveled across the sea of faces out on the platform, looking for anyone she knew. Her parents were already gone, of course. As muggles, they didn't like to hang around now that she was old enough to get on the train by herself.

OOC: That was fine! c: Just like writing a story. Also, should our characters know each other already or nah? I don't really mind either way.

IC: Vivian, still staring out the window, noticed the sudden arrival of a large group of students. She would have thought they were simply a large family, but there was little resemblance between the adult and all the kids. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she amused herself coming up with different explanations for this oddity.

    OOC: Okay! c:

IC: Vivian turned around to stare at the train's corridor instead. Students bustled past, shoving each other and calling out to their friends, eager to catch up after the summer. As Vivian was the only one in her compartment, she was bound to be joined by someone at some point, after all the "good compartments" had been filled.

Vivian resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow. Be nice. She thought to herself sternly. "Sure, go ahead." She waved a hand airily at the empty seats across from her and next to her. Although she smiled, her grey eyes were taking in every inch of the girl in front of her. She instantly recognized her as part of the large group that had appeared on the platform a moment ago.

OOC: Cool. and i meant it its okay i'm not judging you

IC: Vivian stared at her for a moment. Well, no point in making this any more awkward than it has to be. She thought. "What's your name, anyway? Mine's Vivian." She kept her voice carefully polite. If she wasn't careful she could make anything sound sarcastic.

Vivian smiled back. "Likewise." She tilted her head and studied Alida for a moment, searching for a topic of conversation. Finally, she decided to see if she could probe into the other girl's reason for being with such a big group of kids-- without directly asking of course, because that would be just rude. Not to mention very Gryffindor, and she was... not a fan of Gryffindors. She turned her head to look out the window as the train sped up, past all the waving parents. "Weird to see them all, isn't? The families, I mean. Makes me remember when I was a little first year, all excited and confused at the same time, so eager to find my place in this world but so afraid I wouldn't have one." She laughed to brush it off, and get back to her original goal. "Anyway, my parents stopped waiting for the train to leave ages ago."

Vivian smiled back. "Likewise." She tilted her head and studied Alida for a moment, searching for a topic of conversation. Finally, she decided to see if she could probe into the other girl's reason for being with such a big group of kids-- without directly asking of course, because that would be just rude. Not that she cared about being rude, but it was often a very inefficient way to get information. Hmm... She turned her head to look out the window at all the waving parents. "My parents aren't out there." She said it suddenly, abruptly, as if it had just popped into her head. "They're both muggles, so they didn't want to hang around I guess." Even if she was saying it to guide the conversation, there was a certain amount of bitterness in her voice that couldn't be faked. Her parents hadn't stayed because they didn't really care, that was the truth of it. But the point of this conversation was to get information, not to give it. "Anyway, what about you? Are your parents magic?"

Vivian's eyes lit up. Apparently she'd met someone else who knew how to play this game. But she was determined to be better. "Yeah, everyone was pretty surprised when I got the letter. I always knew I was different, though. It's kind of hard to miss, when snakes follow you in from the garden whispering all the time." She smiled. "I bet that sort of thing happened a lot at your home though, with so many magical children cooped up in one place." That Alida didn't have parents was a conclusion she probably could have come to on her own. What she really wanted to know was why, but that was a difficult question to get at without seeming... insensitive. After all, she assumed there was some tragedy behind it, whether they were dead, hadn't wanted their daughter, or hadn't been able to look after her, any number of things really, but none particularly happy.

Vivian was surprised despite herself. "Yes, I can. When I was little my parents thought I was just pretending, playacting, like little kids do. As I got older they got concerned so I stopped mentioning it, but it was hard to ignore when they were the ones seeking me out." She smiled and tilted her head. "Is that not common?" Not one to lie to herself, the thought that even among this world of wizards she had a special gift made her happy. Secretly, selfishly, self-importantly happy. But that pride could stay tucked away inside. And perhaps she could lay off her original goal; she had other questions that could be answered. "What's life like, growing up surrounded by magic? Or even just knowing you're magic?"
