"Yes, it has been so long since I've been able to get out to the forest." Kailu said, a slight smile on his face.

"Hmm . . . ? Oh, I . . . uh, don't live anywhere really. I used to live far east, but I was kicked out of my town because I'm a monster . . ." Kailu hid his face from Kono, but openly told her of his history despite how sensitive of a subject it was. I can trust her, she doesn't seem like one to taunt. Kono is nice. He thought, reassuring himself that telling Kono would be okay. So far she didn't show any signs of hostility towards him and she had helped him before.
-
"Hmm? Oh!" Kailu turned his head upwards, seeing three dark figures in the sky. "Well we better get their attention." He took in a deep breath, preparing to yell up to Kono's friends. "AHOY THERE!" Wait . . . ahoy there? Why'd I say that? Kailu thought confusedly to himself.
-
Kailu watched Kono happily wave at her friends with a longing look on his face. He smiled too, only as a way to cover up his sadness. "Looks like your friends are here, Kono. Thank you for healing my arm." He said in his quiet voice, bowing slightly.
-
Kailu's purple eyes shoot upwards to meet Kono's. "R-really? You'd let me stay with you?" His voice was no longer its calm self, but full of surprise. "Thank you so very much! I am in your debt."
<<No offense but . . . you don't want to Kailu? ;P>>
-
Kailu bowed his head in return. He glanced at Kono, watching her hug her friends, smiling all the while. "May I ask your names?" Kailu said in his quiet voice. "I am Kailu Vandeir."
-
"A dragon . . . ?" Kailu mumbled, interested in the dragon Night Sky. "It is a pleasure to meet all of you." He dipped his had once again to be polite.
-
"No, not exactly. I heard the the battle and came over to help, but I was shot in the arm almost instantly. Kono and I met while hiding and she healed it." He replied passing Kono a grateful glance. Kailu's ears picked up a crunching noise in the brush, and he turned his head slightly so he could watch and talk with his newfound friends without scaring them.

<<Sorry, school has kept me very busy lately . . .>>
Kailu looked at Kono, then back at the bushes. There seemed to be something there, he could smell it, but then again it could be all these new scents making his nose go crazy. No. This is different. Kailu stood up taking in a deep whiff of the scent.
-
<<May not be active until 1:00 PM tomorrow, but I'll try. What's the time for you two?>>
Hearing Kono, Kailu stopped, still eyeing the bush cautiously. He backed away but kept his senses on high-alert in case something - or someone - jumped out.
-
<<I'm 6:10 now . . .>>
Kailu jumped, startled by the sudden attack on the creature in the bush. The terrified eyes of the creature reminded him of how he was once. "Stop! Leave it alone." He stepped in front of Midnight and bent down to the creature.
-
"You just startled him . . ." Kailu said, sitting cross-legged on the ground. I wonder if he can talk? Well, only one way of finding out. "What's your name, and business watching us from the shadows?" He asked inquisitively, but not meaning to frighten him.
-
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry Dragozaram." Kailu placed his grey-colored hand on Dragozaram's head. "I apologize for what my friends did. We were just as scared as you were." He understood the creature's pain of loss, and felt sorry for being ready to attack. It wasn't Dragozaram's fault that he was lost and afraid, without anyone to help. It wasn't Moon's or Silver's or Midnight's fault that they were going to attack and ambush him. Just instinct. "Perhaps we could help you. They have helped me greatly, and are quite trustworthy."
-
"Yeah, I'm sure we'll be able to find your friend." He gave Dragozaram a sympathetic look. "And maybe your part-sister will still be alive. She loves you, and wouldn't want to abandon you to death." Kailu remembered his own brother and how he stood up for him when the other villagers threatened him. He never wanted to leave Kailu, but had no choice.
-
Kailu looked over at Dragozaram, placing an arm around him, then back over to Kono. "Who is this Ronove? And why is he angry?" He tried to keep the worry and confusion inside of him down for Dragozaram's sake, but still asked the question. Kailu had not been with the group long enough - not even an entire day - to understand who and what everyone was, and the fact that there were still others who are fleeing didn't help either. He knew almost nothing about his new friends, yet had enough confidence in them to reassure another lost soul. What a crazy day this was . . .
-
"Oh . . ." Kailu looked slightly shocked, but calmed down as Dragozaram curled up against him. Kono's father must be really worried. He thought to himself quietly. "Your father must be worried then . . . you should go now."
-
Kailu lay on the dirt beside Dragozaram, looking skywards. A gentile breeze ruffled his silver hair and edges of his clothing. He slowly drifted off into a dream state, curling up against the creature. His mind was transported somewhere familiar to him, somewhere he has wished never to see again.

<<Here we go . . .>>
The town was just as lively as ever. Bright rays of sun reflected against the sea and clay-shingled rooftops, occasionally being crossed only by the few clouds that passed above the mountains. Ships bobbed up and down in the dock as sailors climbed in and out carrying cargo. Carriages with fancily clothed men and women riding inside drove up and down the street alongside some small automobiles spouting their usual smoke. The tall tower at the center of the town rang twelve, it's loud bells clanging obnoxiously, causing a few people to gripe about the bells not being repaired.
Pushing himself up to get a better look at his surroundings, Kailu realized just how short he really was. The passers-by towered above him and seemed to create an impenetrable moving wall through which he needed to weave through. The dark alley behind him was cold and gloomy just as any alley would be here, which as much as they provided cover, were not his most desired place to stay. He began to thrust his way through the mass of moving people, causing quite a disturbance. Many yells of "Watch it!" and "Oi, get out of the way kid!" reached his pointed ears before reaching the street. From there Kailu could see much better; several signs hung from poles protruding from businesses and bars and beauty shoppes. Some school girls stood pressing their faces against the glass behind which a beautiful dress was displayed on a lifeless mannequin. A pole at the corner edge of the street told him where he was and exactly which way he needed to go to reach his destination in such a familiar place.
Yes, there it was. The glass roof of the library marked as a guide-point back where he should go. Here in this highly populated city was his original home, where his brother had lived and so did his parents, along with the maids and butlers and cooks and gardeners, all the people who worked and lived in the same house he did, was his home. -
<<School has kept me really busy and we JUST finished painting my walls and cleaning my carpet in my room!! Sorry for not being active, I've just gotten really busy as of late.>>
In reality, Kailu's slumbering body rests beside Dragozaram, twitching occasionally. He moans as the dream continues.
