Gavin slapped a hand onto his desk, drumming his fingers as he watched the android approach him. He raised an eyebrow at RK900, his scowl never leaving his face as he looked him up and down in distaste. He couldn’t believe he was partnered with a walking ps4 with a collar up to his chin.
“Looks like we’re partners,” he snarled unhappily, glaring up at the android. “So listen here, toaster. I’m gonna call you Nines like the others do mainly because not a single living soul has time to say your full ‘name’,” he continued, turning his chair back around so he could swing his legs up on his desk, stacking one leg on the other. “Now why don’t you make yourself useful and get me a coffee,” he ordered, waving him away dismissively.
In the meantime, he leaned forward to grab the new folder that was placed on his desk with a recent, unsolved case in it. He flipped it open and skimmed through its contents, frowning at the information. It had something to do with an increase in murders in the west side of Detroit that several people had been blaming on deviant androids. Gavin sucked in a long breath, trying to calm down. At the end of the day, he had a job to do and he wasn’t going to let that plastic prick prevent him from cracking this case.

Avery stepped out of the car, frowning slightly at the humidity. He grasped onto Flynn’s hand and followed him into the station, taking the sunglasses off with one hand and stuffing them into his jacket pocket. “Um, perhaps together?” He said, turning to face Flynn. “We could be like good cop, bad cop,” he added with a dorky grin.
-
✧ —
Avery dropped Flynn’s hand once inside and followed him to the front desk, signing in. He flashed the secretary a bright smile as he walked away with Flynn to the interrogation room. He let Flynn into the room first before following him in and sitting down in one of the chairs opposite of where the suspects would sit.

Avery hummed in surprise when Flynn kissed him, but he didn’t hesitate to kiss back. He was a little shocked that Flynn was willing to push the limit and kiss him in the police station, but he wasn’t about to start complaining. He pulled back and shot Flynn a sappy smile before turning his attention to the guard who had entered.
Once Lucas had sat down and was cuffed down, Avery leaned forward and set his forearms on the table. “Morning, Lucas. You look absolutely chipper this morning!” He teased, not able to keep the shit eating grin off his face.

Gavin felt rather smug when the android walked away to retrieve coffee for him. The knowledge that Nines was cyberlife’s most advanced android combined with the fact that he was coded to take any order, including a coffee run, was quite amusing to Gavin. While he waited for his coffee, he started to entertain the possibilities of the amount of crap he could get Nines to do.
He was finishing leafing through the papers in the file when the android came back with his coffee, setting it on his desk. Not even looking at him, Gavin leaned forward to snatch the cup off of the desk and took a sip, wincing slightly at the scalding heat. He returned to the file that he already finished and was doing a great job with pretending that the other wasn’t there when Nines suddenly asked him a question. Gavin glanced up, his eyes narrowed and his lips pulled into a frown. He studied the android suspiciously as he sipped his coffee. He knew that Connor had asked random questions before he deviated, so he tried not to be alarmed. “Sure,” he said slowly, pulling back to blow on the steam rising from his cup. “Ask away, Connor 2.0,” he sneered.

Avery’s smile didn’t falter at Lucas’s threat, thinking it was rather amusing. He was about to retort when the blonde man mentioned Felix and he instantly sat back, his smile tightening as his gaze moved to Flynn, studying him carefully. He didn’t know what Lucas was talking about and why Flynn seemed so upset about it, but he did know his curiosity was more than peaked. He was starting to get troubled about how little he knew about his partner, other than knowing about his brother.
“You know it would in your best interest to cooperate but it seems to me like you’re the one in chains here,” he snipped, his mood souring quickly. This Lucas guy was really starting to piss him off. “And please, tell us all about your fiancé, we’d love to hear it.”

Simon smiled as he watched Markus walk away, a blush still on his face. Once he was gone, however, he didn’t quite know what to with himself. He eventually decided that he could put his past household android skills to use and tidy up anything he could.
It didn’t take long for him to clean up the areas that didn’t involve getting in someone’s way and he was starting to get aggravated with the lack of things to do. Sighing, he wandered around until he found Josh, staying with him for the remainder of the time that Markus was out.
When Markus returned, he turned from Josh to greet Markus with a small smile. He gladly returned the kiss and giggled at the kissed Markus placed on his face. “Yes, I am. Josh help North around here while we’re gone,” he said, addressing the other android.

Gavin inhaled slowly and loudly, his lips lifting up into something of a half smile. He closed the file and threw it hazardously back onto his desk as he sipped his coffee. “Why do ya think, tin can,” he said as he moved his feet to the floor. “Because you’re an android,” he responded simply, as if it was the most obvious thing.
He spun his chair slightly so he could face the computer, shaking the mouse to wake it up. He started writing the outline of his report for the case, trying his best to ignore Nines. It was hard, however, when the android refused to sit down and just stood there. Groaning, he sat back and gave the android a hard glare. “Can you stop being weird and sit or something?”
(It’s totally fine, love!)

Avery sat back in his chair and crossed his arms, his lips turning into a slight frown. He listened to the information Lucas was giving, nodding slowly. He had a feeling things were going to get a lot more complicated than what Lucas has already told them. “Is that all?” He asked, narrowing his eyes at the blond man. He knew, however, that the longer they keep Lucas here without letting him see him his fiancé, he would be less likely to talk.
-
✧ —
Gavin glanced away from his computer to shoot Nines a look that was a mix of confusion and shock. He studied the android for a moment, noting his extremely awkward and out of place posture in the chair. “Yeah, well, you don’t do a very good job at even acting human. You’re more machine than Connor was,” he commented lowly, letting his gaze linger on Nines for a moment longer before looking at his computer once more.
Absentmindedly, he slid the case file across the desk towards Nines as he finished his coffee in one big gulp. “Just...read this so you know what I’m,” He pauses, jaw working, “what we’re going to working on.” At this point, he had no choice but to surrender and work with Nines, but it didn’t mean he would like it.

Avery’s frown deepened further at the lack of information but he kept quiet. He wasn’t entirely sure how they managed to get engaged when Lucas barely knew anything and didn’t even ask. Or perhaps, that was just Avery, he had always been rather nosy. He nodded at Flynn as the other man got up, leaving him alone with Lucas. He met the blond man’s gaze, his eyebrows slightly furrowed.
-

Avery hummed and turned to peck Flynn’s cheek once they were alone. “I hope so, pretty sure Lucas wants to kill me,” he laughed, leaning back into his chair when the other suspect was let into the room.
He watched the dark haired get cuffed to the table, noticing how relaxed he looked. He returned the man’s smile, glad that at least one of them was nice. “Morning to you as well,” he replied warmly.

Gavin shot Nines another glare, unamused by his response. "No shit, Sherlock," he snapped as he leaned back in his chair, stroking the stubble on his jaw. His eyes momentarily moved to stare at Captain Fowler through the windows of his office, anger rising in him as he watched him. Contrary to what everyone else thought, he had worked hard to get to where he was, and he didn't get there by being a nice person. Truth be told, he was afraid that his new android partner would show him up and make him look even worse than he already did. Although he would never admit it out loud, of course.
He glanced back at Nines and nearly burst out laughing at his very awkward half smile. "Wow, cyberlife needs to teach you how to smile," he said, his lips twisting into an amused smile at the sight.

Avery narrowed his eyes at the man across the table, his lips pulling into a tight smile. It was so obvious he was lying and they had proof, and Avery was already sick of his smug look. He leaned forward slowly, placing his hands on the table and folding them together as he stared the other man down.
"Oh, totally, but only to people he doesn't like," he remarked, glancing over at Flynn briefly. "Now listen here, sweetums. Don't bullshit a bullshitter. Why don't you tell us all about your little night out on the town and then you'll get to go."
-
✧ —
Avery frowned at his words, becoming more irritable by the second. He didn't usually lose his cool, his mother had raised him better, but he really wanted to wipe that smug look off of the man's face. He glanced over at Flynn when he heard him growl, noticing how pissed he looked. Carefully, he reached for his hand under the table and grasped it gently. He sent Flynn a soft smile trying to get him to calm down (and himself) before he turned his attention back onto the suspect, his gaze hardening. "Don't make me break that other leg of yours," he threatened, "talk, now."

Gavin finished filling in the background information in the report before sighing and turning the computer off. He turned to regard Nines for a moment with his ever present scowl, tapping his fingers on the desk. He didn't comment on the fact that Nines dropped the smile as soon as he said something, marking it down to him just being a machine. "Alright, we better get working on this case," he mumbled, standing up from his chair. "We gotta drive to the west side of Detroit and things are pretty bad there so make sure you're armed," he commanded as he hooked his badge onto his belt and placed his gun in the holster. "Folks in the ghettos really don't take too well to androids."

Simon allowed Markus to led him out of Jericho, not knowing where they were going but trusting the other android. When they arrived at a graveyard, Simon frowned as he studied each headstone they passed by. He was about to speak up when Markus suddenly stopped in a front of a grave with the name Carl Manfred engraved on it.
"I'm sure he was," he responded, smiling over at Markus warmly. He squeezed Markus's hand in return, enjoying the feeling of his hand clasped around his own. "I would have liked him, if he was anything like you," he continued sweetly, turning his attention to the grave. He stepped forward to place his hand on the top of it, closing his eyes as he paid his respects.

Gavin watched the android walk away, sighing as he ran a hand through his barely styled hair. While he waited for Nines to grab a gun he surveyed the office, taking note that neither Anderson nor Connor were present. Sometimes Gavin wondered why he even bothered to show up for his job since apparently no one else did.
When Nines returned he offhandedly waved him along, walking through the building to the back door where the squad cars were parked. Naturally, he didn't trust the android to drive so he slid into the driver's side of the car labeled 04 and started the engine. As he tuned the radio to his liking, he couldn't help but feel the need to just peel out of there without his "partner".

Simon pulled away from the gravestone and opened his eyes, shifting his gaze back to Markus. He listened to Markus as he lamented about his previous life with Carl, nodding occasionally to indicate that he was listening. "He sounds like a wonderful person. Not many humans were on our side before the revolution," he replied, frowning briefly at the thought. "You sound very talented as well, I would love to see your paintings, if you would," Simon requested, flashing Markus a smile.
At Markus's question he hummed softly and looked up at the sky, his jaw working as he thought about a response. "Probably," he responded in a quiet tone. "Everything has an end, including us. One day I'm sure we'll be too old of models to function," he continued, slightly sad about the fact.
