Upon playing the final chord, Hitomi looked over at Devon with another little smile. Music always made her happier, even if it was a melancholy piece itself. "How'd you like it?"

"Let me know when it's done, then," Layla said, smiling.
-
Hitomi nodded. "You'll find that it affects a lot of people that way," she told him softly. "That's probably why I love music so much... It brings so much peace to the world."
-
Minoru watched Jade from the other side of the room, his eyes well-adjusted to the darkness of the room after being there for hours. He had seen many people come and go, as well as heard the bids from outside. By now his emotions hardly existed, so this time he didn't much as blink at the sound of the chains clanking when they were getting ready to pull the girl outside.
Harumi sat in an abandoned restaurant down the road from the theater, wearing average clothes that hid a majority of weapons that were strapped to her body, from a gun to shuriken to knives. A piece of paper lay on the table before her, which she was carefully studying before she would go out and spy on the vampires during their horrid auction.
-
ooc: I could make one if you'd like?
-
Hitomi laughed, getting to her feet and closing the piano before stepping out from behind the bench. "Me too. Do you play any instruments?"
-
"Definitely. In fourth grade everyone learned the recorder in music class, and I still say I play that even though I haven't even seen it in at least two years," Hitomi told him.
-
Harumi reached the auction just as a younger girl was pushed out onto the stage. She was sure to stand in the back, with the wind blowing at her face so her scent wouldn't be obvious, even though she had done her best to mask it.
-
Isamu grinned as Jade walked into the clearing. He went over and took her arm to help her onto the stage. While he was sure not to jerk or injure her, his touch wasn't particularly tender either. Once they reached the center, he looked her over and announced to the crowd, "Well, look here! We have a beautiful human up for auction. A girl with black hair, pretty eyes, and a very nice build. I can imagine she'd be good for quite a few things."
-
"Alright. 60 gold from the young lady. Will anyone offer 80 for this wonderful human?" Isamu announced.
-
"300 gold it is! Anyone for 350?" Isamu called. "Going once.... Going twice..."
-
"Please," Hitomi laughed, "Out of all people, you probably have the least to feel insecure about."
-
"Sold! The slave goes to the girl for 300 gold!" Isamu took Jade's arm and pulled her to the front of the stage, waiting for Lyra to come claim her.
Harumi watched with much interest, keeping her eyes glued to the stage as she intently listened to the buzz going on around her. A boy, she heard, was up for sale today, and everyone was excited to get a look.
Minoru gritted his teeth as the same two vampires returned, and they were heading straight for him. They unlocked the clasps on his wrists and ankles that chained him to the wall, each getting a tight grip on either of his arms so he couldn't fight. Not that he could, though, being weak with hunger and not all that muscular in the first place. "The main event," one of the men growled, grinning with pointed fangs as they pulled him outside and toward the clearing where the auction was taking place.
-
"And you shouldn't," Hitomi told him. "There's no reason to, because what's the fun if everyone's all the same?"
-
Minoru was taken to the auction stage, with his hands tied behind his backs. At least he still had his jeans to wear, he thought, however dirty and sloppy they might be. A couple of the girls he had seen had been stripped of the majority of their clothing, or it was torn to the point it didn't serve its purpose.
Harumi's eyes narrowed at the sight of the boy being brought out. The air immediately was filled with remarks of all sorts. "Well, he's pretty cute", "I wonder what his blood type is", or "He's really scrawny, don't you think?" She decided that it was probably best to go and look around somewhere else while it took place, and she swiftly moved toward the building they kept the slaves.
-
Isamu looked over Minoru as he returned to the stage. "Another nice-looking human up for purchase. I know he might look a bit small now, but imagine how striking he'll be once he gains a few years and some physical labor. I think we'll start out at 150 for him. Anyone willing to bid 150 gold to start us out?"
Harumi was over halfway to the building when she noticed a vampire standing alone outside the crowd, with an air of importance surrounding him. He's the leader, she thought, and went to hide in some bushes in order to watch him a bit longer.
-
"Thank you, Veronica. Does anyone want to go up to 200?" A person stood up, raising their hand. Isamu smiled and nodded. "We have a taker for 200. Anyone for 230?"
Harumi held her breath, trying not to move a centimeter as Lance looked her way. The wind suddenly changed course, though, and now came to her back, lifting her scent toward the vampire. Great, she thought sarcastically.
-
Isamu gestured to Veronica. "250 from the nice lady!" he announced, and looked over at the other bidder. She sat down, obviously not willing to go higher. "Would anyone else like to take a shot for 290?"
Harumi stood warily, her hands going to her waist, where she had some of her weapons hidden. She glared up at Lance. No, she realized, I need to look innocent. There's no way he'll let me live long if he knows I'm a threat... Her gaze softened a bit, replaced by a growing look of anxiety, and her hands fell to her sides. Even though she was 18, it sure helped that she had the appearance of someone a couple of years younger. "I'm sorry, it's just that my family's all gone, and when I heard about the auction I..." she trailed off, looking down at her feet.
-
"...I was hoping to find someone who could help me," Harumi finished, looking back up at him. She could tell he wasn't buying it, or if he was, that he really didn't care. It was all in the eyes.
-
Harumi clasped her hands in front of her. "To take me in, give me food. I'll do any kind of work in order to eat."
"Going once... Twice... Sold for 250 to Veronica!" Isamu shoved Minoru forward, and he gave a little cough of pain, but didn't try to fight it. He couldn't tell if this Veronica girl was going to be cruel or not, but she was a vampire, so naturally he just expected the worst. That way he couldn't be let down.
Isamu looked over at Rana was brought onstage. "Looks like we still have 'em coming, folks, so keep your money out! Let's start at 70 for this nice dame, which I think is a steal."
