    cricketpaw meminero !

speckledfawn managed another smile, though her heart ached every time wolfscar coughed. after hearing a fit like that, even a cat who wasn't trained in the art of healing would be able to tell his health was rapidly declining. she kept on a brave face, however, chuckling at his idea, "well, my love, that isn't a bad idea. i might have to take you up on it," she purred in reply but was effectively cut off when cricketpaw came rushing into the den. speckledfawn jumped, her tail puffing up out of surprise and she turned to face the younger tomcat, eyes wide with shock, "i was wondering where you had been, cricketpaw, but you don't have to apologize for being late."

taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart, speckledfawn suddenly burst into a fit of delicate laughs, something which was very out of character for her. "really cricketpaw, don't worry about it. you're here now, that's all that matters," she added, her tail tip twitching. "once you've relaxed a bit, why don't you start sorting the herbs you've gathered back in storage," speckledfawn instructed, "and if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask." she added with a small smile directed at her apprentice.

turtlepaw glanced down at cherrypaw as the young tom spoke to her, returning his smile kindly, "good morning, cherrypaw," she greeted, dipping her head slightly before glancing back at their mentors, waiting to follow them out of camp.

//i'll have more to write once they actually start the training, sorry it's so short :c

ghostpaw had been seemingly distracted while she waited to get going, shuffling her paws on the ground impatiently, but the minute thunderwhisker asked if they were ready to go she was already on her way to the camp entrance. she gazed back at her mentor, eyes shining with excitement to finally get out. she didn't leave immediately, of course, wanting to wait for her mentor and the others joining them, but it was clear she was ready to get out.

//now just waiting until they actually get out, hopefully i'll be able to write more once things get moving for them oof

another sleepless night, another exhausting day... honeypaw thought to herself as she exited the den, stormy grey orbs darting around the camp as she let out a deep sigh. "i guess i'll get something to eat.." she grumbled under her breath, trudging towards the fresh kill pile and picking up something small. honeypaw took note of the cats who were already out and about but made no move to greet them. she retreated back to the medicine den, settling down just outside and taking some time to eat the small kill she had just picked up.

    henrietta emeraude lachlan

henry - eighteen - district 11 - weapon: anything, but prefers daggers - interactions: x

henrietta had managed to get maybe two hours of sleep the previous night and awoke to her daughter practically jumping on her chest, insisting that she make her look pretty for the reaping like all the other girls. margo knew what today meant and she understood the gravity of the situation because she also knew henry had her name in there at least 42 times this year. even so, margo was still a little girl and it wasn't often they got dressed up for anything, so of course henry obliged.

they were almost late to the reaping because margo struggled to pick out a dress whereas henry already had on a lovely grey dress that reached just above her knees. tight at the top and around her waist, but with a flowing skirt that swayed as she walked. the minute margo chose her dress, henry had her dressed up immediately and then they were out the door. luckily they didn't live to far, but the closer they got the more margo began to cry, terrified by the idea that she might lose henry just as she did her other mother, analise.

"oh, my little lamb, don't worry. i'm not going to leave you," henry held her daughter close, doing her best to soothe the young girl as everyone lined up for the reaping. typically she would be expected to leave margo with her grandparents seeing as they were next of kin, but henry hadn't been able to find them along the sidelines and was now left holding the four year old in the middle of a crowd of other eighteen year old girls. "sweetie, you don't have to cry.. it'll be fine.." henry whispered, stroking margo's hair delicately with one hand and swaying back and forth in an attempt to comfort her.

henry sighed softly, hoping and praying she wouldn't have to leave her little girl behind this year. she needed to find her parents, they were the only one's she even remotely trusted with margo despite the rocky relationship henry had with them. ever since the day they met margo, they fell in love with her and had been trying to help henry to make up for their past mistakes. "where could they be..." she mused quietly, sighing and turning her gaze to the stage. she could see the woman in the clown costume making her way onto the stage and step up to the microphone, tapping it lightly before speaking. henry had already begun to tune out the woman's speech, only allowing herself to refocus as the time came to pick the tributes.

"it is time, like every year, to select one man and woman for the honor to represent district 11 in the 99th annual hunger games. as usual, ladies first~" the woman sounded much too excited for something like this and henry so badly wanted to ignore what she was saying once more but as she drew the name, reading it aloud, henry's blood ran cold. "henrietta lachlan? where are you, my dear?" the woman called, watching expectantly as the sea of girls parted to allow henry passage.

margo caught on quickly to what was happening and looked at her mother with the most terrified expression she had ever seen, "mommy, you said you weren't going to leave me," the colour drained from henry's face and her stomach dropped, but all she could do was hug margo close and keep walking. hopefully one of her parents would hurry up and show their face, it would make this just a little bit easier if she wasn't holding onto her daughter.

as if by some miracle, the face of her mother soon appeared in the crowd and she watched as the older woman tried to push through. before henry could turn around to run over and give her margo, a peacekeeper yanked henry's shoulder and took margo from her. "woah, hold on! you can't just take her like that!" henry reached for her daughter only to be shoved further away from her by two more peacekeepers. margo screamed and cried, thrashing violently in the peacekeepers arms until he had no choice but to drop her. she looked ready to dash over to henry, but the red haired woman shook her head a sigh of relief escaping her as abigail emerged from the crowd and scooped margo up into her arms.

knowing that margo would be safe now, henry reluctantly turned and finally made her way towards the stage. one of the peacekeepers grabbed her arm, trying to move her faster but henry just elbowed him hard in the throat, "touch me again and i'll break your arm," she snarled and then walked up to stand beside the woman on the stage.

clearing her throat, the woman continued, "anywho.. now onto the boys..." at that point henry had tuned her out yet again, her features void of any emotion. she was on autopilot now, going through the motion of shaking hands with the other victor when the capitol woman told them to, allowing the peacekeepers to guide her into the building where she would say her goodbyes to her family.

henry lifted her gaze as the door opened, eyes filling with tears when she saw her parents and margo. the peacekeeper at the door gave them three minutes, closing it to give them some privacy as they said their goodbyes. "little lamb, i promise i will make it back to you. i will win so i can see you again, got it?" henry promised, watching as margo silently held her pinky finger out, clearly wanting her to pinky promise. a sad smile spread across her lips and she reached over and hooked her pinky around her daughter's.

henry then rose to her feet and gave her parents brief hugs, "i know we haven't had the best relationship, especially after everything that happened when i was 13, but i have seen you guys change the more you get to know margo. i know you'll take good care of her and if anything should happen to me, i know i've left her in good hands. i love you both," okay, so maybe this was a bit of a lie because henry still had a lot of hatred towards her parents that she had bottled up but now wasn't the time to uncork that. she didn't want to say something that she would regret later on, so this was the best option. henry turned back to margo, crouching down and hoisting her daughter into her arms, "i love you so, so, so much, margo. i'll see you soon," henry whispered, the two standing there for a few moments as they hugged before abigail took margo back, the peacekeeper ordering them out.

now that the visits had ended, it was time to get on the train. henry could hear margo crying for her on the platform as she approached the train, wanting so badly to turn around and give her one last hug. instead, she stepped up into the train without so much as glancing back at her family because she knew if she did, there would be no way to stop the tears.

    angelica larsen thomas

    lars - fourteen - district 3 - weapon: bow and arrows - interactions: x

trigger warning bc there is abuse mentioned, i don't want y'all to just jump into this without knowing that//

larsen hadn't slept at all and as always she had to wait for her brother to come downstairs. today was the day of the reaping, so he had to let her out or there would be severe consequences for whomever didn't attend the ceremony. chains jangling as she swung her legs over the side of the bed, lars stared at herself in the mirror. tugging on the chains around her throat, her wrists, and her ankles as if that would do anything to loosen them. if anything, it only caused pain to shoot through her as she put pressure on the bruises that covered her small body.

it wasn't long before larsen heard gabriel walking down the stairs and so she turned her gaze towards him as he came into view, "good morning, brother," larsen's voice was hollow as she greeted him, eyes glazed as they followed his movements. "good morning, angel. i hope you slept well." gabriel beamed at her as he approached his younger sister, crouching down in front of her and placing his hands on her knees, "are you scared for today?" to that question larsen shook her head, "not particularly, but i would like to get ready now if that's okay. i don't want to be late," at this gabriel frowned but nodded, however as he unlocked the chains he yanked them rather hard resulting in a whimper from the young girl. "let's just get you ready... i've picked out some clothes i think will look lovely on you, let me go get them." gabriel told her, turning and heading back upstairs.

larsen stared intently at her reflection in the mirror, running her hands over the dark scars that circled her neck, wrists, and ankles- a sure sign that she had been imprisoned for years. tears filled her eyes and she was about ready send her fist through her mirror when she heard the door open again and spotted her brother coming down the stairs. lowering her fist, larsen stared at him as he lay a baby blue dress on her bed and a plain pair of shoes. beckoning her towards him, larsen stood and did as she was told, taking a few steps in his direction before standing still.

"okay, you look perfect. let's get going," gabriel grinned at her, leaning down and pressing a kiss gently on her lips, larsen had to try her hardest not to flinch away from him, "it'll be okay, you're still young so you haven't had your name in there too many times. you won't get picked." leading larsen out of the house, the siblings walked side by side to where the rest of the district was gathered for the reaping. gabriel leaned down and whispered in larsen's ear, "i'll see you after the reaping, angelica. i love you," and with that he took a step back with the rest of the adults too old to be picked for the games, watching his little sister with eyes like a hawk as she stood with her age group.

time seemed to speed up at this point, larsen was too dazed and she would rather focus on how sore her body was then she would the same speech they gave every year at the reaping. with a hollow gaze, lars watched the women as she reached into the bowl of girls names and picked one out, reading it aloud.

"angelica thomas! angelica thomas, where are you darling?"

it was fuzzy at first, but then the woman on stage repeated it again and her eyes brightened with excitement, unable to hide the smile that spread across her lips. "sorry, i'm here!" she called politely, stepping out and making her way towards the stage. lars froze, however, when the pained voice of her brother yelled for her, "no! angelica!" he was running towards her, looking as though he was close to tears. everyone else would view this as a loving brother emotional that his sister got chosen for the games, but larsen knew what this was and she kept quiet as he hugged her close, "you can't leave me, you just can't..." gabriel whispered over and over, but larsen knew that she had to. she pushed her brother away, smiling down at him, "cya, big brother." and with that larsen turned and allowed the peacekeeper to escort her up, grateful that another one held her brother back as he tried to reach her again.

on stage, larsen was absolutely giddy with excitement, or maybe it was exhaustion, she couldn't tell. her eyes were bright and the smile on her features was hard to miss, anyone who saw her would probably be shocked to see her so excited [except for the people in the capitol, of course]. in her excitement, the rest of the ceremony became a blur up until she entered the room where she would say goodbye to anyone she cared for, which was absolutely no one. but, of course, gabriel showed up and waited until the door closed to turn and look at larsen.

what happened in that room, lars didn't want to think about, but it certainly showed as her sensitive skin began to bruise almost immediately along the side of her cheek. her lip was split and her forehead was bloody, but she just wiped the blood off her lip, not bothering to touch the wound on her forehead, and got onto the train. looking out the window she could see gabriel, staring at her with narrowed eyes and an angry expression, but thankfully larsen finally had the luxury to turn away from him. so she did, not looking back at her older brother once as the train departed.
