Hi!!! I'd love to still do this thread. You don't need to watch the drama if you don't want to, though I admit it's cute and silly. I simply liked the idea of a cafe setting, so we don't need to follow the plot of the show at all. Please feel free to make your character whenever you want and then we can start anytime.

Empty as it usually was lately, the Sweet Rose Cafe was spotlessly clean with not a customer in sight. The old oak tables inside the sop had been wiped and polished until they were shining, while the black metal tables outside had been hosed down so that they were clean. The flower shop above the cafe hadn't been making nearly as much business as hoped, and while it helped some it wouldn't be enough to keep the cafe afloat forever.

Just inside the glass front of the store was the display case with all of the day's pastries, consisting mainly of simple items that many could make at home. Taped to both the display case as well as the front door of the store, and even all over the Los Angeles area, was a 'Help Wanted' poster that Soo-Min had just put up only a few days ago. She was desperate for a baker, as she only knew the basics and couldn't do much else. It also explains why the display case has only simple cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and pies.

Sitting on a stool behind the counter of the store was Soo-Min, her hair pulled back into a simple braid. She was dressed in a knee length jean skirt and a flower printed button up, parts of the outfit covered in flour from earlier in the day. A book about baking lay open on the counter in front of her, as her brown eyes skimmed the pages in hopes of suddenly becoming a fantastic baker that would save her home. That of course would take years of learning, not minutes, and truth be told Soo-Min was going to need some help.

Jae-Suk Hui Lee || Aogiri Tree || Ghoul

    IC:

In a little bit of a foul mood, Jae had originally been out trying to find a meal but when the rain arrived most of the humans ran inside. This included the CCG agent she had been tailing, who ended up meeting with a few other agents at a bar to avoid the rain for a little while. So now left hungry and ever so drenched with rain, the violet haired ghoul had been instructed to meet up with Reiji and Akito at Anteiku.

Tugging her precious panda hat further down onto her head, Jae slipped her hands into the large panda mittens and made her way to the coffee shop. Humming a childish tune under her breath she did her best to keep to cover, though failed as at each puddle her childish nature would come out and she would jump into each one. This left her ankle boots and black-'n-white striped socks soaked through, and a chill settling into Jae's bones.

Only a few moments after Reiji had spoken did the door slam open. "Waah~! It smells so good in here!" Jae exclaimed as she made her way inside the shop. Pulling out the chair from the other side of the table of Reiji, Jae maneuvered it so she could sit on it backwards with her giant panda paws cupping her grinning face. "Mind if I steal a cup of coffee~?" In all likely hood it would be a bad idea to give her more caffeine and energy, though it would also be a bad idea to deny the girl her desired drink.

As the tingling of the bell to the shop echoed, it took only a few moments for Soo-Min to slam her book closed in excitement. A large grin spread across her face as she took in Kyung Jae, her eye catching the poster she had put up only recently. She rushed out behind the counter, her heeled boots making a clicking sound on the hardwood flooring. She was much too caught up in her excitement to even take full notice of how handsome the male before her was. "Oh! Oh! I'm so glad someone's finally come!" Her voice was soft and airy, almost like she was day dreaming, but she still eagerly rushed up to Kyung Jae, standing a good few inches shorter then him despite her heels.

"I'm Soo-Min Lee, Irene is my American name. I own Sweet Rose Cafe, and the flower shop on the roof as well." Finally introducing herself, Soo-Min bowed her head before waving him after her as she headed to the kitchen. "While it's not state of the art, I'd like to believe we have a better then average kitchen." There were heavy wooden tables covered in flour, metal mixing bowls and tools, and while not the most current machines they weren't more then a few years old. "I trust you can make things better then I can. My cakes are far too simple to keep this place going. In any case, you'd receive a salary as well as boarding in my apartment upstairs."

Turning around once more as she leaned against one of the tables, Soo-Min finally took the chance to take in Kyung Jae. "The job is yours if you want it, I've got no one else wanting the job for a failing cafe. You can even move in right away, and start tomorrow or the day after." She admitted, an embarrassed look coming across her face. Her hands were clasped in front of her as her fingers fiddled with each other, awaiting the answer.

With her brown eyes lighting up, Soo-Min excitedly nodded her head. "The job is yours! You can take the spare bedroom upstairs, I don't mind." Pushing herself off the table, she took light steps back out into the hall and towards the front once more. She would need to try and take down all her help wanted flyers, but that would be a job for later. "You can call me whatever you feel comfortable with, though my few friends call me Sugar or Sweets." She called over her shoulder as peeled off the flyer from her display case and front door.

Peering out the window and looking both ways down the street, she let out sigh when nobody came into sight. Tossing the flyers into the recycle bin she made her way behind the counter again to pull out some more papers. "I'll need to make some new flyers. Try and get some more attention for this place, another chore for later." Setting down a pen on the papers so she could sketch out designs, she returned her full focus to Kyung Jae.

"Would you like to see your new room now or later when you bring the rest of your stuff?" Soo-Min questioned with a grin. She had jumped from so many topics, she knew it'd probably take a few moments for Kyung Jae to answer. A bad habit, really, but she never could keep her mind from running a million miles a second and just acting on them right away. It'd take a while to get used to, but many of her ideas were innocent so they ended up easy to follow. At least, for her friends who had spent a decent amount of time with her at least said they were easy to follow.

Picking up the spare paper and pen she had originally laid out earlier, Soo-Min perked up at the muffled answers. Noticing that Kyung Jae had remained in the kitchen, she peeked her head around the door frame. Upon the request for the dairy, she walked over to the slightly hidden fridge in the corner. The bulky silver frame of it was hidden by the many papers that were taped to it, some were old notes and others were recipes left by her grandmother and some of them were just grocery lists that were never removed. "Sorry, I always forget to organize the papers. I keep everything refrigerated in here, though in emergencies I'll usually run upstairs and steal some from that fridge as well." She yanked the door open as she spoke, revealing the abundance of eggs and milk and butter and other items that weren't in abundance within the fridge.

"So, you wanted to know about the cafe, right? Um, I'm currently barely breaking even, and that's including the flower shop on the roof. I don't expect you to help with the flowers, they're just sort of a passion for me and a good way to try and make extra money. Besides that, if you have any questions in specific feel free to ask away." Carefully picking up an old stool, Soo-Min placed it in front of the main work table while propping her head on one hand so that she was slightly leaning against the table.

Her eyes trailed after Kyung Jae as he moved about the kitchen collecting ingredients. A large grin remained on her face, happy to have some help finally as well as what she would consider a new friend and room mate. It got lonely sometimes when business was slow, and many of her friends lived too far away for her to visit them often. Uncapping the pen she still had in her grasp, she started to sketch out a rough design for a new flyer. Swooping letters made up the cafe's name and in a clear font she started to list out details. Though that was soon side tracked as she became caught up in drawing small flowers around the border of the paper, and little cartoon cakes as decorations.

    Laziria, Goddess of Duty

Raised under Belous, God of Darkness and Zatuna, Goddess of Loyalty. While not possessing many "powers" the few she has, Laziria has maximized. Inheriting it from her father, Belous, Laziria is able to see in the dark no matter the lighting conditions. Inheriting from her mother, Zatuna, she is able to tell whether loyaties are true or not but only after touching them with her hands. This includes if someone is lying to her, as she is hyper aware to loyalties when they apply to her. This has allowed her to keep her reign over the kingdom, as well as prevent many spies from breaching her walls.

As the sun prepared to rise a cup of steaming tea was clutched in two pale hands belonging to a Goddess. Not in appearance, though it also seemed true there, but in actual standing. Laziria had been awake for a short while already, working in her private study still dressed in her night gown. A kingdom would not run itself, and while nobody in her group of advisers was un-loyal, she still didn't trust any of them enough to do the important paper work herself. So she had stayed up late the night prior and awoken early in the morning in order to finish all of her work. Earlier on in her life, this habit of doing most of the work herself was what had earned her the title Goddess of Duty and it seemed fitting. Laziria, despite having the option of having others do all the work, chose to do the work herself and while she was 'cold hearted' to her people she also had their respect at the same time.

Now though, as she sipped at her warm tea while looking over one final document she finally took notice of the time. Letting out a sigh, Laziria stood from her cozy office chair and returned to her bed chambers to get ready for the day. Unlike many others of her status, Laziria hated having people dress her for the day. It always made her feel like a child who couldn't do anything, and so while not having fired the handmaids she did move them to helping others instead of herself. Pulling open her large closet filled with dresses of many colors, though most being gold as they matched her eyes, she studied her choices before selecting one of her preferred gold dresses. It had an oriental flare to it, with long slits up both sides to allow for free movement and long sleeves that covered her hands when they were down. Lastly, she tied up her hair into its usual clean bun to keep it out of her face aside from her bangs.

Checking to make sure she was presentable one last time, Laziria cast a glance at her small collection of shoes before letting out a snort and turning away. It was likely the most unregal thing about her, she hated shoes and could often be found without them on. Head held high and the back of her dress trailing behind her, she walked through the halls and to her throne room ignoring the servants bowing to her as she passed. A pair of guards walked just a little bit behind her as protection, and just as the sun began to rise did they reach her throne. It wasn't tall or covered in jewels, but rather it had a dark and cold feel to it. Taking her place upon it, legs crossed at the ankles and her body leaning ever so slightly against the arm rest, her unique gold eyes pierced through the room as her mouth pressed into a thin line.

It was only a few moments later when the sounds of marching boots echoed around the hall. "How is it you have cause such a ruckus when the light has barely risen, Captain? Explain yourself." Laziria's voice pierced through the air, ringing clear as she stared down without emotion at the group of four before her. One of her Captains stood before her, with a young kitsune being dragged by her arms between two soldiers and she couldn't understand why. They all wore her armies uniform, and while she didn't check every individual with her power she knew enough that not many would break into her kingdom to only take the position of a soldier. She paid no mind to Layla yet, as her gold eyes remained focus on the Captain as she awaited her answer.

Raising a slim brow, Laziria finally moved her gaze from the Captain to Layla. "This little girl committed a crime? Do tell me what order it is that she disobeyed." There was an undertone of amusement in her voice, yet somehow it still remained chilling. Laziria was aware that it made people believe she had no heart, but it was actually a habit that was trained into her by her father to maintain her image of power to the people. She had shifted so that her head was propped on her hand, her pointer finger framing the side of her face as the other fingers curled under her cheek to keep it propped. While slightly annoyed at having a commotion just after sun rise, she had to admit if was slightly humorous that it was over a young women.

Gold eyes scanned over Layla, soaking in small details that she might deem important. While dressed in her armies armor, it was easily noticeable as she was held between two bulkier soldiers that it was a lighter version. Next was the fact that Layla was visibly taught with nerves and fear, but that was something Laziria was used to seeing in those brought before her. Also picking up on the fox tail and ears as traditional markers of a kitsune, Laziria seemed to show no inclination to harming Layla. Then again, Laziria had yet to hear what crime Layla had committed. There had been times when Laziria was brought a criminal and upon hearing the crime had ordered immediate imprisonment or even execution. Though that was rare as Laziria often used her gift of figuring out loyalties before deciding on punishments.

There was a long pause as Laziria turned her gaze from the Captain to Layla and back again. "Failed to kill a traitor..." She murmured in slight confusion, bewildered at the statement. Normally, Laziria was quick with her decisions on punishments and yet here she was at a loss for what to say. Instead of sounding like a moron with multiple "Uh's" and "Um's", she kept her mouth shut as if she was simply thinking. Inside, her mind was reeling at what to do as never before had she had issues with someone killing a traitor.

Slowly, Laziria uncrossed her legs and stood from her seat. Descending the few steps from her throne, she by passed the Captain and stopped in front of Layla. "Release her." She commanded the two guards who held Layla be both arms. As she did this, she held out her hand for Layla to take it. Thanks to her mother, Laziria had the ability to tell where someones loyalties were by touching them with her hands. So that's exactly what she was doing as while failing to follow the order to kill, it wasn't as if Layla had been plotting to over throw Laziria.

((Sorry, I could've sworn that I had posted this but I guess my computer didn't want to.))

"I'm glad you like it, let me know if there is anything else you want. I'll see if I can't find some for when you officially start." Soo-Min paused in her doodling to look up at Kyung-Jae as he bustled around the kitchen. She was about to return to her drawing when he asked another question, this one taking Soo-Min a moment to answer as she hummed in thought. "I think my favorites are wisteria, particularly wisteria bonsai." She placed a finger to her chin in though as if doubting her answer before giving a firm nod of her head in confirmation as a grin came back to her once more.

As she looked back down to her attempt at a new flyer design, she sighed as she realized that she had turned it into more of a doodle page than anything else. Pushing it to the side she started on a new one, this time saving her doodling until she was done with writing all the necessary information on it. With a slight struggle to stay focused, Soo-Min managed to finally get a proper looking flyer done with only a few drawings to keep it fun and eye catching.

Noticing that Kyung-Jae had seated himself in front of her, she set down the pencil to give him her attention once more. As he asked her about the cafe, Soo-Min took a good few moments to collect her thoughts before answering. "Well, this technically wasn't my cafe to start. This place belonged to my grandmother, and I was raised her. It's like a family business, if you want to call it that." Suddenly leaning in as if she was telling a secret, Soo-Min cast a quick glance around as if it would end her world if someone overheard her. "Besides, I like pastries and my nicknames are Sweets and Sugar. It seemed only fitting to have a cafe of my own, right?" Leaning back as suddenly as she had leaned in, there rested a goofy smile on her face as she laughed. As she calmed down after a few moments, she went back to resting her arms on the table with one hand propping up her head. "What about you? Why're you now a patisserie at my cafe?"

Ignoring the shaking of Layla's hand, Laziria placed her other hand over the top gently. Ever so faintly, if you looked at Laziria's eyes you would see them glow softly as she used her ability. The slightest of tingling in the hand would be felt by Layla, but the process was otherwise painless. The act only lasted a few seconds before Laziria released Layla's hand, and smirk overcoming her cold features.

"I've decided what to do with you." Laziria spoke as she stared straight into Layla's eyes before turning back around. Making her way back up to her throne, she crossed her legs once more she she gave the first grin most would ever see on her. It wasn't a sweet grin, it wasn't a malicious grin (those were reserved for battles), but it was a mischievous grin that would send chills down just about anyone's back. "You'll serve me personally for one month." She crossed her arms as she spoke, a smugness settling into the tone.

This might be one of the first times under her rule that Laziria hadn't sentenced someone to death or imprisonment. That of course didn't mean she would be getting off easy, Laziria would still make sure she was punished. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see the two guards that stood at the base of the steps to her throne who seemed surprised. This brought even more joy to her decision, she loved a good surprise every now and then. It kept her from falling into predictable patterns that could end up as a weakness.

At the mention of the wisteria tree, Soo-Min's eyes flickered towards what would be the front of the store if the walls weren't there. It had been there since Soo-Min was a little girl, and it's likely what influenced her to love wisteria trees. "Older brother? Ah, I didn't know. If you want, please feel free to stay with him then. I don't want to force you to move in!" With eyes wide, Soo-Min tried to make it seem like living at the apartment above wasn't required. She had originally offered it because she believed it might help her to get someone to work for the cafe.

As if she had forgotten about his offer with the flyers, Soo-Min also gave a more shy grin. "Also, I'd really appreciate your help with spreading the flyers. I'll make some extra copies tonight." She tapped a finger on the paper as if it would help her to remember later on. It wasn't likely she'd forget, but knowing herself she'd get side tracked and put it off until the last minute.

While it didn't show on her face, Laziria was pleased to see her guards and Captain squirm. Despite all her years already as the ruler of this kingdom, she still enjoyed the power she had. Of course, she worked hard to maintain it and to make her kingdom the best. With a little wave of her hand, she sent the two guards who stood at the base of her throne away with the other guards as they trailed after their captain. She was more then capable of handling Layla on her own, and she had a feeling that Layla wasn't going to attack her.

Laziria watched with an almost satisified grin, though it was more of a crinkling of her eyes, as she watched her disappointed Captain leave. "I swear, he might love punishments just a tad too much." She muttered while shaking her head ever so slightly. "Might have to do something about that, can't have him killing every prisoner we have." Turning her eyes back to Layla, she waved a hand lazily to call her up to her side. She had unfolded her arms and returned to leaning against the arm rest of her throne, a typical way to find her seated on the throne.

"What's your name? I don't fancy calling those I work with by their job titles, makes it a tad to.... awkward." Laziria drawled while tilting her head to the side. It was an unknown fact to most, but it was true that Laziria called most within the palace by their names. She had been taught at a young age that names had power, and so to those she worked with did she bother to learn their names.
