OOC: Sorry for the delay, school's slamming me hard :(
As Ospreywhisker padded off to her temporary den, Spirestar suddenly caught a whiff of a strange scent.
"Smallflower! Fallingsand! A strange cat is somewhere in our territory. Go and investigate. Bring him or her here to me."
Spirestar paced back and forth. Things were happening swiftly, and he was uncertain what the Noble Council would say of Ospreywhisker and her darkly strange situation. He knew they would have a solution. They always did. He considered going off to Jubilee Island to ask their advice and leaving Leopardfur to deal with the intruder, but he quickly decided against this. Spirestar knew he needed to remain calm and collected so that the clan could act in a reasonable and unified manner. -
OOC: Wow. Sorry. I had no idea it was my turn.
Um...not entirely sure how to respond. Still new to this. Too early for anything to happen...? -
Shadepool eyed the conflict from a distance. He had heard Windwhisp's muttered threats with concern. Strolling over to the other cats, the black and white tom sat down quietly next to his leader "This could get ugly. I'm here if you need back up," he whispered.
-
OOC: Yeah. Makes sense. Still, I'm not really sure what to say. I'm also not pro at this. Curse you writer's block!

Hi all!
Life kind of took me by surprise, and things have been really busy. Fortunately, I have reconnected with this site. I would like to reopen HighlandClan to new members.
Unfortunately, the site's being difficult and won't let me copy the old thread, so all new members should refer to the old thread for info about our great clan!
SpireStar welcomes you.

OOC: Hi all! HighlandClan has been resurrected, and this thread is a continuation of our former rp. New members are welcome to jump in, we'll try to integrate your character(s) into the story. See recap below if you need to catch up.
Recap
HighlandClan's leader, Spirestar, has been plagued by dreams of an apocalyptic war between the Noble Council (HighlandClan's ancestors) and a group of cats who burn the Highlands. He shares his dream with the clan. An uneasiness descends over everyone. The next day, a strange cat named Ospreywhisker comes to camp. She speaks of a terrible plague that destroys both body and mind, a plague that has attacked her clan, DaleClan. As Spirestar seeks to find answers to the mysterious visions and the significance of the visitor, another cat, Phoenix, approaches the Highlands. Soon darker and deeper mysteries will be revealed.IC:
Spirestar led Ospreywhisker to the old abandoned warrior's den. He looked up at the stars thoughtfully, then turned to the visitor.
"It may be more damp than you are accustomed to. It's dry enough for most of us, but living near the sea the mist does soak into your fur. I hope you sleep well. I will call the clan together tomorrow to discuss a plan to address your clan's problems. I cannot promise aid at this stage, but it's possible."
"Whatever you can do will be a blessing," Ospreywhisker purred. "DaleClan will be forever in your debt, and I thank you for the shelter and your willingness to hear our problem."
Spirestar frowned slightly, then nodded.
"You are welcome. I must go attend to my clan. Sleep well,"
Spirestar padded away, back towards his own den. Ospreywhisker arched one eyebrow and smiled.
"I will." -

Hey!
Just wondering if anyone in here would be interested in a roleplay based on the works of Roger Zelazny. I've read Lord of Light, Creatures of Light and Darkness, and am working through the Amber Chronicles (on book 3).
-
OOC: Oh! Sorry. here is the link, and I'll put it in the header.
IC: Spirestar looked out at the edge of the camp. He saw a rustling shadow
It must be another strange cat. That's no familiar scent, he thought. So strange that HighlandClan would have so many visitors in a time like this.
"Who goes there? Declare your identity, so we may speak further!" he mewed loudly to the new cat. -
OOC: sorry it's short. muse has been low. Any suggestions on how to recruit? All the other old members seemed to have jumped ship
Spirestar heard the cat's voice as he approached. It was tired and cracked, but he could still detect a note of strength in its even, smooth timbre. He saw the reddish cat place a young kit on the ground. His eyes grew slightly wider.
"Greetings, Phoenix. I am Spirestar, of HighlandClan. What brings you out to our remote home?"
-
-
bump. Any takers?
-
Spirestar eyed Phoenix with an air of curiosity. The other cat seemed protective, although it was hard for Spirestar to be sure.
"We mean no harm. We can't shelter visitors for the long term, but you are welcome to spend the night if you need to rest," Spirestar said to Phoenix as he helped the kit back on her feet.
Spirestar was silent for a long moment. He looked up at the full moon. Then,
"Forgive me for prying, but is this your kit?" -
OOC: I'm going to go on the recruiting trail. Meantime, I may have to play multiple cats. :p The deeper plot will hopefully pick up again soon, as I'm trying to work your character into it and figure out how it will move forward. Any out of character knowledge I should have about Phoenix?
Spirestar nodded cordially.
"No more questions for a weary traveler tonight. I insist you stay with us for the night. We are remote, and no harm will come to you here. You can sleep in the old warrior's den. There's room for one more cat, and I'm sure Cherry will fit just fine. Follow the thin line of trees towards the moon and you'll find it. It's a pretty visible mossy cave."
Spirestar dipped his head to Phoenix, then returned to his den.
