Can I be permanent Med. Cat?

    Username: Sankai
    Name: Cypressclaw
Rank: Med. Cat (or Warrior if I'm not allowed)
Description: Mottled brown pelt, dark sea green eyes. Relatively long.
Personality: Cypressclaw is a somewhat guarded, quiet cat. His brother, Frostpelt, went rogue and caused a lot of pain among his former clan. He would rather talk to StarClan than a cat of his own kin, but he keeps a close eye on all that goes on and little escapes his notice.

Hi all! Hope the poetic title isn't too purple prose-y. I've been around awhile now, but I'm always learning. Bear with me if my style and/or manner isn't up to snuff. I try to be courteous, polite, etc. Well, enough about me, on to characters!

Note: Until I can get a good artist or other method of getting unique pics, all character images will be from the avatar maker. Yay avatar maker!

2nd Note: Currently undergoing renovation. Trying to decide which characters will be advanced in my plot and which won't. Some may disappear, new ones may arrive...

    Name: Cypressclaw
    Alliance: RadiantClan
    Age: 15 moons
    Rank: Warrior
    Gender: Male
Appearance: Dark brown tabby with sea green eyes. Has a scar on his right flank from a close call with a badger.
Personality: Cypressclaw is a rather quiet, reserved cat. Silence is his defense mechanism. That said, he is very observant and watchful, and is usually the first on the scene of trouble to help.
Bio: Cypressclaw became a warrior around the same time as his brother, Frostpelt. The two were an inseparable team for many moons. Over time, however, Frostpelt began to lose his mind. He claimed seeing prophetic visions of apocalypse to RadiantClan, and he would often wander around at night, looking for prey that wasn't there. Despite being not in his right mind, Frostpelt remained a charismatic speaker. One night, he convinced several apprentices to wander off into the wilderness with him. When Cypressclaw heard, he was shaken. He became a loner for awhile. After a long time of healing, Cypressclaw eventually began to return to clan life, though he felt a pull to retire from his warrior life and become a medicine cat.

    Name:Frostpelt
    Alliance: Rogue
    Age: 15 moons
    Rank: None
    Gender: Male
Appearance: White furred cat with golden eyes. Somewhat shorter in body length than his brother, Cypressclaw (though you can't tell from the picture)
Personality: Has slowly gone insane. Rambling, somewhat paranoid. While they were not as pronounced, Frostpelt always had paranoid tendencies, preferring to work with as few other cats as possible and being very suspicious of cats from other clans
Bio: Frostpelt is Cypressclaw's brother. They trained under the same mentor, Dashingsoul, who later left for another clan. A few moons after their warrior initiation, Frostpelt began claiming to see visions of StarClan. At first, these were considered by various members of RadiantClan, but the visions gradually became more and more delusional, and eventually Frostpelt was ignored. He took this dismissal as a perceived threat and lashed out against his clan. He set himself up as a "prophet" of StarClan and convinced several apprentices to follow him into the wilderness. He has not been seen since.

    Name: Dashingsoul
    Alliance: RiverClan
    Age: 20 moons
    Rank: Warrior
    Gender: Male
Personality: Dashingsoul is an energetic warrior with a very social nature. He goes about every task he is given with zeal and vigor. He is the first to volunteer for a duty and the last to leave when it is complete.
Bio: Dashingsoul was born and raised in RadiantClan. As time went by, he proved himself to be a formidable warrior. He remained at the top of his game and highly esteemed for many moons. When his second apprentice, Frostpelt, went insane he feared for his life. Frostpelt had gained a strange enmity towards his former master, and tried to kill Dashingsoul. Dashingsoul survived, by virtue of being far more experienced, but Frostpelt had gained allies, and Dashingsoul knew it would not be safe to remain in his clan. He left by night, with the blessing of his leader. He wandered for a long time until he was accepted into RiverClan. Though he occasionally missed his old home, he accepted his new allegiance with grace and has since trained a new apprentice, Emberspark, all the way to warrior level.

    OOC: Awesome!

IC: Cypressclaw gazed up at the grey, rainy sky.
"StarClan seems to be foreboding something. This is no ordinary rain. I can feel the tension in the air," he muttered to himself. He sorted a few herbs, wondered if he should go and see if the hunting party was all right. He decided to share his misgivings with RadiantClan's leader. He padded through the rain towards the leader's den, taking shelter under a tall shrub as he waited.

OOC: monarchwing never did their character sheet, I don't know the leader's name. Oh, and I'd take Flowerkit/petal as the medicine cat's apprentice.

Dashingsoul bounded through the forest, legs carrying him towards the clearing where his new apprentice would be waiting. He was excited. He had been grateful to RiverClan for accepting him, after dangerous events forced him to leave RadiantClan, the clan of his birth. He slowed as he neared the clearing. He walked with poise towards the area where Emberpaw sat. He knew he would have to set a bit of decorum at their first meeting, though inside he was bursting with anticipation.

    He reached his new apprentice.

    "Greetings, Emberpaw."

"Today, we will be hunting. The first and most important skill in a warrior's arsenal. From hunting comes all the skills of fighting. Follow me."
Dashingsoul began to walk. He gradually sped up to a trot, keeping a medium pace so his apprentice would be working, but able to keep up. He stopped deeper into the forest where some grasses grew.
"Keep still, I smell a vole. Slowly adopt my position. Any sudden moves, and we'll lose the catch."
Dashingsoul crouched into the grass, legs ready to release their coiled energy. His front paws prepared to strike.

OOC: I thought hail said she would play med. cat until a permanent came along. I don't want to take her position out of the blue, but if it's all cool...

Cypressclaw sighed. Omens would have to wait. He rushed back over to the Medicine Cat's den. Looking around quickly, he found some wintergreen.
"Eat this, it will help neutralize the poison. You look a little too weak for yarrow, but I could be wrong." He gave Fawnpaw a few poppy seeds to ease the pain.
    "What happened?"

"Relax. Take a deep breath. Your muscles will seize up if you're tense. Whenever you're ready, pounce. I don't think this vole is going anywhere for awhile. It looks like it's found a nice clump of berries."
Dashingsoul resumed a watchful gaze at the vole, ready to warn his apprentice if it decided to move.

OOC: Don't you mean Emberpaw, not Ivypaw? And I'm in for the night. We can pick this up whenever. I'll be on and offline all through tomorrow. I plan to be pretty active.

    OOC: Joinin'

    What is your cat's name?
    Frostpelt

    Is it a tom or a she-cat?
    tom

    What rank is your cat?
    warrior

What does your cat look like?
    pure white pelt, golden eyes.

    What is your cat's attitude?
paranoid, rambling, fierce, somewhat insane. Is known to be loyal, however.

Does your cat have a mate?
    no

Does your cat have any siblings?
Cypressclaw, but he's in another clan

    Does your cat have kits?
    no

Does your cat have an apprentice?
    no

Frostpelt wandered into the camp, his head hung low. His journey had been long, and StarClan had not yet given him any guidance as to why he was here. He hoped for sanctuary at least, maybe community, though he didn't see why he should deserve it, and assumed the other cats were not likely to treat him kindly.

"Well done, Emberpaw, well done! You can eat some of that now if you want. You've earned it. Now, I believe the next important thing for a RiverClan cat would be fishing. Follow me."

He began to walk towards the river that ran through their territory, scouting for a good place to fish from.

Dashingsoul found a patch of soft reeds which would offer plenty of stable footing. He dug his back paws into the dirt.
"Now. The nice thing about fish is they're harder to scare off. Just wait until one swims by, and..."
Dashingsoul lashed out with his front paw and caught a fish. It flopped around on land for a few seconds before Dashingsoul killed it with a hard bat to the head.
"Timing's a bit tricky. It's best to move just before the fish reaches your position. Give it a try," he said, backing off a bit to let his apprentice use his space.

"That's okay. Here, come up close and watch me again."
He walked back up next to Emberpaw, nudging her gently to one side. He prepared to strike. A fish began to swim along. He struck, missed, lost his balance and fell into the river. A few moments later he emerged, shivering and spitting out water.
"Grrr. It's cold this morning. Sorry about that. Don't do what I just did. I leaned too far forward. Now, watch my timing."
He waited for another fish. When it was about half a foot away, he struck. The fish had no time to swim away, and was caught.
"Take that one down, or it will flop back into the water. When you're ready to try catching again, go ahead."

"Good. Much better. Now, for obvious reasons, a warrior is no mere hunter. We must always be prepared to defend our clan. I will now teach you fighting. To avoid...the same dousing I just received, we should probably move away from the river. Let's go back to the clearing. It should give us some room."

Dashingsoul waited for a moment. He decided to test his apprentice's speed. He took off at full blast for the clearing, which was still only a relatively short distance away. He looked behind him occasionally to make sure Emberpaw was keeping pace.

    They reached the clearing.
"Excellent. You keep pace well," Dashingsoul praised. He shifted into a fighting position.
"A real fight, a fight with another cat, is about one third battle technique and two thirds psychology. If you can force your opponent to fear you in battle, they've already lost. That part is difficult to train. It will come out with confidence in one's own skill. For now, we'll just focus on technique. An important thing to remember is never to turn your back on an enemy warrior if you can avoid it. Now. Try to attack me. See if you can force me onto my back. We'll keep our claws sheathed for this exercise."
Dashingsoul prepared himself. A brief wave of nostalgia crept into him as he recalled his first apprentice and the first time they trained combat.

    OOC: Emberpaw :)

Dashingsoul was suddenly snapped back to the present as Emberpaw's weight crashed into him head-on. He struggled, shifted his weight a few times. He batted at her three times with his front paws and fell over as his third strike missed and left him wide open for her attack. He grunted, then flipped back onto his feet.

    "Impressive. That was quick."

He looked off into the distance for a few moments, as if studying something. Then he leaped at his apprentice, trying to knock her over from the side.

"I want no trouble. StarClan has abandoned its prophet, and so I am left in mortal ruin. I seek a clan in which to remain, to serve and to be healed until I am someday called to carry the message once more," Frostpelt said in a rasping voice. "I will serve your clan to the best of my ability, I swear. I have not fought in a few moons, but I am highly capable," he added to justify his presence.
