"I'm Richard," he said. He looked around at their surroundings. "I wish that I knew," he said in response to her question. "Maybe...I don't know. There just isn't an explanation." He tugged at his tie. "Let's stay together," he offered, wanting company in this place and also feeling that it might be safer. "I can't see why anyone would want to be alone here."

Annalise sat curled up and shivering in her sell, chills running down her spine. It wasn't the space she minded nor was it the climate but it was more the people she sawing the sell across from her that left and didn't come back and the voices that she never heard again. What became of them? She stared out into the hall, wondering if someone was going to come for her. Her eyes closed until Kiozumi spoke. Then they flew open and she sat up with a tiny cough.

Niels sat on his bed, his head bowed and hands clasped, praying quietly. He had resigned himself to the situation long ago. His eyes were closed against the world and he felt almost normal. He couldn't see that they weren't anyway. The young man finished his prayer and looked up. This place never changed, did it? He responded to Kiozumi when she spoke. "Is something amiss?"

Richard considered the options for a while, then walked away a few yards to a door near to where he found his rose. He grasped the knob and tried to open it, but it only rattled. It was locked. "Oh, come on," he sighed, stepping away. "Is there a door down there, Ruby? This one's locked." Maybe there was a key somewhere, or maybe they just wouldn't have to go that way. They would see soon enough, he supposed.

Richard entered, taking in his surroundings. He went over to the pedestal. "Beware of edges?" What on earth was that supposed to mean. He went down the hall and cried out in pain and surprise. A hand had burst from the wall with a roar of sorts and hit him hard in the arm. Richard stumbled back away from the wall and collided into the other one. His arm throbbed and he noticed an orange petal on the floor. His eyes shifted between the petal, the rose, and the hand on his injured arm. Then he remembered the notes and he made the connection. "Protect your rose and stay away from the walls," he shouted to Ruby. Oh, God, this was bizarre.

ooc: I know. Niels all alone. Haha!

ic: Analise let herself slump onto her side, but she kept her arms wrapped tightly around her bent, bony legs. It was nice to hear someone else, she supposed. It meant that they weren't dead and that was good. Perhaps that meant that she would live a little longer. She glanced at Yuuki and curled into a tighter ball. She wasn't entirely sure that she trusted the other girl, but what choice did she have?

Niels sighed softly. "Yes, perhaps it is," he allowed. He walked over to the bars and leaned his head against them, listening to Kiozumi hum. Like Mama used to, he thought. He grasped the bars in his hands. His knuckles alternated white and somewhat pink as he clenched and relaxed his fists, just breathing.

"Yeah, it's nothing." Richard out his full weight back on his feet and straightened his glasses. "But I've got to tell you, the rose is connected to your life. We get hurt, it gets hurt and vise versa." He took off his back pack and stowed his pencil and paper in it. Best to keep it out of the way.

    Full name: Sayu Kawashima

    Age: 13

Personality: Sayu is a brave girl and can persevere even in the face of some of her greatest fears. She is flexible and doesn't mind terribly if plans have to change. She is pessimistic, usually expecting the worst, but she still hopes for the best. She is extremely critical of herself and others, and while she has the tact to not berate her fellows, she will silently harbor resent and disapproval for mistakes. She is a decent girl, all things considered.

History: Sayu lived a fairly normal life, but she was schizophrenic. Someone told her that part of what she experienced was not real, and it crushed her. It was not long after this that Kyubey approached her and she made her wish, which cured her of her illness.

    Soul Gem:

    Weapon: A long whip.

    Outfit:

Wish: Sayu wished to see only reality.

    Other: Complete!

Almyra's expression became a sympathetic smile as she read Emilie's response.

AA: Oh, I'm sure they're not ignoring you.
    AA: Why would they?
    AA: You're A greAt troll!

    She frowned as she continued.

AA: But no, I hAven't spoken to Anyone for a few dAys.
AA: I'm sure they're just busy.
AA: WAit A minute, I've got LionAs here.

As she waited for the response from Emilie, she wondered what all of her friends were doing. It was at times like this that she felt like the only troll in the whole world. She smiled at Lionas's response, breaking out of her thoughts.

    AA: WhAt mAkes todAy dreAdful?
AA: It seems pretty averAge to me.

The weather wasn't horrible, at least where Almyra was. What if something had happened to Lionas. Her face contorted with worry.

Footsteps. Footsteps were doom to Analise. She began to tremble in fear as well as the chills and she tucked her chin into her chest. Go away, she prayed, Or be brining food. Please, leave me alone!. She continued her internal mantra, listening hard to what was happening outside her cell. Sporadically, she peeked out to get a better sense of what was happening.

Niels looked up from the ground and craned his neck to see who was coming. Dr. Drevis... He stared at her coming, not fleeing, but not defiant in the least. He closed his eyes and sent up another prayer for deliverance. He wrapped his arms around the bars of his cell. If judgement was coming, then he simply hoped that it would be swift.

"I suppose..." Being connected to a flower made Richard feel far more vulnerable. He could handle threats to only his body, but if he simply mishandled the flower, it could seriously cost him. "D*mn this place," he snapped, pulling on his tie. He continued to the end of the hall, not without pausing to catch his breath after two hands shot out and groped for him. Ahead he saw a door and to the left...A shiver ran down his spine. Dolls hung from the ceiling, suspended by their ankles. "Good God, Ruby, look at this."

"Lord have mercy," Niels murmured, stepping away with Aya. He kept his head bowed as he walked, thinking of his family. Saying good-bye sounded very final. He drew in a deep breath and asked, "Will it hurt?" At least he could have some sort of dignity; not shriek in pain at every incision. Though it may not matter anyway.

Annalise nearly began to cry in relief when Aya passed her by. Safe again for another day. Illness was nothing compared to what she did to her. She drew a shuddering breath and took her head away from her legs, watching the trio leave.

Almyra mulled over Lionas's words, wondering how to respond. Cautiously, she typed her response.

AA: Well, perhAps you could try A hobby?
AA: Things mAy seem dismAl now, but something to occupy your time At leAst breAks up the monotony.
    AA: It helps me.
AA: WhAt do you like to do?

She brushed some of her fluffy hair out of her eye. Talking with the sea dweller always gave her a slight feeling of treading on eggshells. She seemed nice enough, but maybe a bit snippy.

    ((Low muse))

Richard looked at Ruby and perceived her distress. Maybe having a companion was better, but not much when she could snap from panic. For all he knew, she could. "Don't look at them," he said hurriedly, putting a hand on her shoulder. He glanced around for a quick solution, then pointed at the door. "Come on, let's go through here. We might find the key to the other door." There couldn't be anything worse than those freaky dolls in there...could there? He tried the door. "It's open," he said, relieved, and pushed his way in. There were simply paintings of six people with text beneath them on the far wall.

Richard barely suppressed a groan. He had never been terrible fond of puzzles. Great. "This place is sick," he said with an air of vehemence. "Is it toying with us or something?" Quickly, he scanned through the statements, then read them slowly. "Are we to assume that they're all liars until proven otherwise or...what?" There were three possible tiles to look under, how was he supposed to discover the right one?

Analise paused. Did anyone share a cell with Niels? It didn't matter, she supposed. The little girl sat up and edged nearer to the door; only a fraction of an inch, but nearer none the less. "Me, too," she chimed in with a tiny, slightly quavering voice. She did hope that Niels would come back, but for rather selfish reasons. Better him than her. She listened to the two other children speaking and wondered if they took comfort in each other's company.

Niels's moth almost twitched into a grim smile at Maria's assurance, if you could call it that. The best was highly disputable. He curled his hands into tight fists and clenched his jaw as they strapped him down, but otherwise made no resistance.

Analise frowned at the coughing. She didn't't think that they were supposed to die like that. She covered her ears with small, spidery hands to block out the noise.

"You may be right." Richard paused and realized that there did seem to be an outcast. At least that was the impression that he got when he read them before. He reviewed what they said, thinking hard about each statement. "Maybe...this one?" He indicated a figure in brown. "four east and two north from the statue. Might as well try it, but I don't see a statue." There were plenty of statues in the exhibition, but which was the right one? That door in the middle was probably locked, and he didn't want the disappointment of finding a mother dead end.

So the door was open. He flushed at his stupidity, then followed Ruby. "What can we do but try?" He asked , walking to stand in front of the statue. He read the note on it and let out a sigh of frustration. "There was a hint." What if they had picked the wrong one? They didn't have the hint before. A moment of inattention could have cost them their lives. He adjusted his tie, his nerves rising again, but forced himself to at least calm down enough to count. Slowly, painstakingly, he walked to the correct tile and after a moment to steel himself, he pulled up the tile. He squeezed his eyes shut, expecting the worst, but when nothing happened, he opened them, straightened up, and examined the tile. "There's a number," he said to Ruby, holding it out to her. "Here, take this and I'll write it down."

Richard removed his notebook and scribbled down the number an the color. How curious, he thought. "Well, let's move on. There's nothing left--". Richard was interrupted by a series of banging and shattering sounds from the room they had just left. "Good god, what was that?!" He exclaimed, afraid to go to the door, but not wanting to be caught in that room unawares of the danger that could be waiting. He advanced on the door and pulled it open, but saw nothing. He advanced in, motioning for Ruby to follow him. What had made that sound? In about the middle of the room, he turned around and gasped. The paintings were covered in red paint and the brown one slashed up. Time to go. Right now. Without and explanation, Richard grabbed Ruby's hand and tried to leave.
