Finchkit had gotten free of her mother and padded to the opening to the nursery. The gray kit watched her littermate play with the other cats.

Swallowwing poked her head out of the nursery and stared at the tom that had walked into camp.

Aretha was laying on her bed in dorm 8. She had been watching a doll run around on a table near the bed when she heard something crash into a wall from down the hall. She tiptoed down the hallway, getting closer to the room.
