He hated when girls were so emotional. "Yeah, and how do you know that?" he asked, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Because it's not true." he said, getting a bit annoyed. "I like you, Darlin."

OOC: Sorry, I was on vacation.

IC: "Cool," he said with a slight smile. Something didn't seem right. "Sounds fun." he said, walking in. "Where we gonna watch it?" he asked Emily, looking over at her. Were her and Tallen making out or something? "Upstairs." she said, beginning to walk up.

OOC: Sorry, I was on vacation.

IC: "Eat dinner?" she asked, looking down at Honestly. They usually only had one meal a day, if lucky. Eating at the dinner table back when their parents were alive brought back good memories, but it also made her sad. She shrugged off her sisters comment with a sigh. "No, I think we should eat. Max, are you hungry?"

"Emily," my mother calls from the other room, her voice clear and sharp. I could tell she needed me, because if she didn't, she wouldn't be talking to me. Useless she was going to yell at me for something my brother probably framed me for doing just so he wouldn't get in trouble. "Coming!" I tell her, placing the sharp knife that i was using to cut an apple into slices down on the counter carefully, as if it would set off a bomb. I run into her room as fast as I could, not wanting to hear her call my name again, which would only make things worse.

My mother is the lady other ladies make fun of for coming to the grocery store completely over dressed. Have you seen one of those? They look like they were on their way to the royal wedding but got terribly lost and ended up in the bread aisle. "You must have class, Emily." she would say to me, when she saw me trying to go to school with converse on. Yeah, because I'm going to play soccer in P.E. with five inch heals on just because I want to have some class. I rather die.

"God, don't run in here so fast! We both know your clumsily and would probably break something valuable." she said with a gruff. Even as she insulted me, I kept my trap shut, because that's what I'm supposed to do. Talking back to her only makes things worse, so I just keep quite and cry and curse her out into my pillow later.
"Did you need me?" I ask. Stupid question, but what else was I supposed to say after the insult that just rolled off her tongue. Sometimes it not the insults that hurt most, it was how easily she says them. "If I didn't need you, why would I call you in?" she questioned, her neatly waxed eyebrows raised, her dark brown eyes starring into mine, the gaze almost burning. "Because right now, I'm missing my favorite part of the movie, because you just asked a stupid question that didn't need to come out of your mouth." she said, her voice stern, and full of anger. Has one of your teachers ever told you there wasn't such a thing as a stupid question? Their lying. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but only stupid people ask them.
I stand there for a minute, deciding on the right words to say. If I didn't pick my words carefully, well, another insult would come my way. "What do you need?" I ask, trying to sound as happy as I could, although she knew I wasn't happy. And knowing I wasn't happy, was what made her happy. "Your cousin Danny is coming tonight, so fix up the guest bedroom and make dinner before he arrives." she says nonchalantly, turning the sound back up, her eyes now fixed on the screen of the tv. My mouth hung open for a second. Danny? Danny's coming? Danny, the druggie? Danny, the one who carries a pocket knife with him everywhere he goes? Danny, the homeless one who lives with some guys that are a part of a gang? Danny, the seventeen year old who flirts with every girl within a one mile radius? No, oh God no, anything but that Danny. "For how long?" I gasp, my mouth still wide open. "Two months. Until school starts." she said in a mumble. I wanted to ask why she would ever be so stupid to let Danny sleep in our house for two months, but I knew it would only agitate her, maybe resulting in the remote being thrown to my face.

Danny was sitting in the back of the bus, watching the group of kids interacting with eachother. He ran his hand through his hair and walked to the front of the bus and sat down next to her. "Hey Darlin," he said, his blue eyes fixed on her.
