Foxshade unsheathed his claws, slashing at the nearest Hawkclan warrior. He raked down the cats back but yowled as the cat's sharp claws camp down the side of his face. Foxshade threw the warrior away wildly looking around Where's Tigerkit!? I've got to find him before he gets hurt! Foxshade threw himself through the sea of battling cats, searching for where they might be holding the kit captive.

Foxshade heard the small squeak of a kit and found Marshwing near the kit. He stared into the deep hole, then grabbed a long vine, "Here hold onto this and I'll pull you out" He said through the vine in his mouth.

"Sorry" Foxshade muttered to the she-cat but gave her a wink as he settled beneath the high rock. Foxshade looked around at the cats in the clearing and with a stab of sorrow he realized all of them were glaring at him. It's better this way, he reminded himself, If you don't put your trust in anyone you can't be betrayed again.

    OOC: sounds good to me!!

Foxshade waltzed over to Foxclaw pretending to examine the scratches, "You poor poor thing!" Foxshade cooed in fake sympathy, "We wouldn't want those to get infected now would we Foxclaw? You simply must see the medicine cat or I shall surely die of worry!" He gave a snide smile and flicked the warrior's cheek with his tail with mocking affection.

Foxshade's ears flattened at the leader's sudden ferocity, "Sorry Blazestar, maybe I have been acting like an apprentice lately," He muttered. Foxshade took a deep breath, "I guess your my new mentor now, Marshwing!" Foxshade flashed her a sheepish smile, "When does training begin?"

Foxshade bounded after the she-cat, "Hey wait up!" He called like an excited apprentice, "I just can't wait to start my training to become a warrior!" He grinned snidely and followed Marshwing into the forest. Memories of his apprenticeship suddenly came flooding back. He had been raised in a different clan before he came to this one, then he had been a completely different cat. He shook his fur out, I don't want to think about that time, He thought icily, that time when I still thought love was real and cats could still trust and care for each other.

Foxshade dipped his head respectfully to the new deputy as she came into camp then headed towards his den. It had been a long day and Foxshade felt odd. He was normally distant from the other cats in the clan and today he had taken a step closer to them. No, he thought I can't let myself get too close, if I don't trust anybody I can't be betrayed He curled up into his nest and squeezed his eyes shut, he didn't want to think about his past or his future or about the things that had happened today. He just wanted to sleep.

Foxshade stood and padded forward, a wide grin plastered on his face. His tail waved cockily in the air and he gave Hollowsong a wink.

Foxshade carried the moss back to camp and brought it to the elder's den, he carefully laid it out for them and then brought them some fresh kill. Then he returned to Marshwing, "Did I do okay?" He asked expectantly. "Am I the best apprentice ever, or what?"

Foxshade was surprised, he had been such a snide sarcastic jerk to this cat, and yet Foxclaw could still be kind to him, "I-it was no big deal, really," He stammered. He took a deep breath, "I mean, I deserved it. I've kind of been a real jerk to you....to everyone really. I..I'm sorry." He looked away, embarrassed.

"Right," Foxshade smiled, and for once in a long time it wasn't fake. Foxshade settled into his moss bedding Maybe Foxclaw and the other cats aren't so bad after all He thought warmly to himself. Watch yourself Foxshade, a cold voice inside his head reminded him, remember what happened last time you trusted a cat.

"Yeah, yeah, I swear," Foxshade half grumbled, Warrior code Shmorrior code, I've been through it all before. You can't even gnaw on a rabbit leg before those stinky elders eat their fill. Foxshade thought grudgingly.

Sootclaw felt his ears turn warm. If he was nervous before around the she-cat, he was extremely nervous now. "I-uh-just-you know...um-" He stammered. Sootclaw took a deep breath, "I just couldn't wait to get hunting again!" He said finally with a sheepish grin. More like you realized you had feelings for a medicine cat and couldn't wait to get out of there. Sootclaw thought to himself with a sinking heart.
