Sootclaw stared in concern at the blue and white cat, "You can hear us alright, right?" He asked.

Worry flickered through Sootclaw's eyes, a cat who was blind was bad enough, but how could a cat with no vision and disabled hearing become a warrior? He shook out his fur, Bluepaw was a smart, quick learning, and adaptable cat, she could do it. "Should we postpone your assessment?" He asked in concern.
-
"Good." He mewed, dipping his head, "I remember when she was just a kit," he murmured.
-
He purred and lay his tail around her, "I remember when Bluepaw had just stumbled into camp, just a tiny little kit," He purred and licked her cheek happily.
-
"Flowerblossom, can I ask you something?" Sootclaw asked.
-
Sootclaw kneaded his paws into the soil nervously, "Listen," He began turning his amber gaze on her's, "Flowerblossom, I felt I needed to tell you that I love you, and I desperately want to your mate, nothing would make me happier. but I understand if you don't want to be together publicly because of.." He looked down again, "Cougarfoot."
-
He stared intently at Flowerblossom, his heart beginning to sink, "Or if you don't want to be together at all..I-I would understand."
-
"Really?!" Sootclaw mewed as giddy as a kit, he licked her cheek, "I love you Flowerblossom, now I better go asses Sugarpaw."
-
"Come on Sugarpaw," Sootclaw said, an unintended gruffness in his voice, trying to lighten it he mewed, "Time for your assessment." He didn't like how Sugarpaw had seemed to have tossed aside Forestpaw without a glance.
-
A soft reluctant smile crossed his face, his voice lightening a bit, "Alright time to start your assessment, I'd like to see how good your tracking skills are, so I'd like you to hunt specifically squirrels. You will hunt by yourself and I will be watching. Ready? You may begin now."
-
Sootclaw followed silently, proud that she knew to go to a different area.
-
Sootclaw watched the squirrel run off, Focus Sugarpaw, He thought, She'll get it, that was hardly her fault.
-
Sootclaw's head snapped up at a loud thwacking noise. He slunk towards it to find Darkpaw slamming against a tree. Racing over, he grabbed the young Tom by the scruff and dragged him away from the tree, "That is quite enough." He said sternly, "Beating up on yourself doesn't change anything. I've been in your position, I know how it feels. Sometimes you gotta accept that another tom was there first and sometimes you have to fight for her. But this, this doesn't do anything. Now clean yourself up."
-
Sootclaw grabbed him again and pulled him off, "neither of you will get her this way."
-
Sootclaw shook his head sadly, "What has become of this clan? First Wolfleap tries to kill Coppershine over a tome, and now you two are fighting over a she-cat. In this clan we settle arguments with our words not teeth nor claw. I'm very disappointed in you.
-
"Sugarpaw," Sootclaw said seriously, "A word?"
-
"Pinesong, Darkpaw is hurt, we need help," Sootclaw called urgently.
-
"Your bleeding Darkpaw, You'll get your time alone in the medicine den." Sootclaw said calmly as he helped Pinesong put cobwebs on the wounds.
-
"Flowerblossom, it's good your here," He purred in relief, "Help me get Darkpaw back to camp."
-
"Come on, there's still hope Darkpaw, don't give up on yourself. Can you walk alright?" Sootclaw said.
