Mudclaw overheard Koiswipe and Shellstar's conversation. A new deputy? How exciting Mudclaw thought with the a smile.

Mudclaw couldn't help but turn his blue gaze towards Blackclaw and Koiswipe. He suddenly remembered when Koiswipe had come into camp with Cavernkit and how Blackclaw had defended both of them when Mudclaw mocked them. Mudclaw frowned and glared angrily at both of them.

Scorchpaw nodded slowly and trudged out of the den.

Mudclaw stared blankly at Koiswipe, his dull eyes showed no emotion. He nodded silently and trudged over to Kindlefire.

"Very well" Mudclaw mewed. He padded to Birdpaw and said "Come on Birdpaw we're going hunting"

Mudkit stared intently at Owltalon with his head tilted at an awkward angle and an eerie grin on his face.

Mudclaw smiled and chuckled at Fangkit.

Mudclaw smiled at Fangkit and Cavernkit and said "I have to go now" before following Koiswipe

Mudclaw nodded before he trudged out of sight.

"Koiswipe!" Mudclaw called as he ran back "There's something you need to see! Quick!"

Mudclaw quickly dashed the way he had come from "I... I think I found a... fox den..." He lied.

Mudkit turned his tilted head towards Rabbitkit "What?"

"Oh...of course I did" Mudkit mumbled as his smile was replaced by a frown.

"Uhh... becau..." Mudkit stopped in mid sentence and whirled around as if he had heard a badger. "Did you hear that?"

"Of course I'm sure!" Mudclaw replied as they both ran deeper into the forest that surrounded the lake

"N-nothing..." Mudkit squeaked

Mudclaw kept runnig, the lake and Shellstar where both far behind them now. suddenly, Mudclaw stopped and turned to Koiswipe. The concerned look in his eyes had been replaced with satisfaction.

"Confession time." Mudclaw said with an eerie grin "I've led you astray"

"This" Mudclaw snarled before lunging at Koiswipe.
