"Cool. Hey, Jingle, can you help me pick this lock? The pup keeps swatting me away. I don't think he's had, just scared, maybe." I say and jump onto the cage of a German Shepard pup. His little paw jabs out and for the first time you notice a long scar on my foreleg, made by a pike that had bit me.

"Mhm." I say, the stick in my mouth. The first kit comes out, a mottled dark gray with black flecks. the next ones an orange tom with black stripes. When I finish, I nudge the orange one. "Wake up little one,"I say. He was born dead. I turn to my other kit, the dark and flecked one. "Adderkit." I say as the she-kit wriggles towards my belly. "Thank you for your help."
