Hawkflight stared at the kits calmly.

Shadowkit walked up to him. "Hi, you're Hawkflight, right? Well, my mother is gonna be un-exiled soon, hopefully, and after that she's gonna talk to you. Kay, bye." She walked away.

"Look. I would un-exile you, but when the Clans were formed, StarClan said that if a cat was un-exiled, they would have to go back to their apprentice duties and work their way up. And, they would be thought lowly of other cats - in your case, that would be everyone but your kits and your mate, probably," Firestar explained. "Are you willing to take that?"
-
"No, Fernstorm," she rasped. "Just leave me. Leave me to rot. That's what DeathClan does when..." She coughed. "When a cat gets injured. They think they're no use anymore, and..." She trailed off.
-
"Nothing," Shadowkit mewed quickly.
-
"If you talk to your leader and Clanmates that way, you'll have to start with the duties of a kit," Firestar growled.
-
Firestar went over and placed his muzzle on Goldenpelt's forehead. "From this day forward, I name you Goldenpelt, apprentice of ThunderClan." He left the den and gestured her forward with his tail. "Come." He leaped onto the High Rock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Rock for a Clan meeting!" he yowled.

"What's wrong, Mudpaw?" Hawkflight asked.
-
"They won't accept me..." She squeezed her amber eyes shut, then opened them again.
-
"It's something... personal," she muttered. She looked at Ivykit. "Have you ever had a friend, that wasn't actually a friend? Sorry if that sounds confusing..."
-
"Don't cry, you old lump," Zeira said playfully, her old, sarcastic personality returning.
-
"I just twisted my paw and broke a rib or two," Zeira said calmly, when she heard what he said. She froze. He loves me? In reply, she licked his cheek. "I'm not gonna die," she promised him.
-
"That leaf that just flew by," Shadowkit sighed. "I would come outside every morning, hoping that it would be there. It would stay with me all the time. When my old friend, Moonkit - before her life was taken by greencough, we were young, only about one moon old - her older brother took us and showed us around the territory. The wind carried the leaf by my side the entire time. The day I met you, the wind took it away completely, and I was mad because the leaf didn't stay back, but I guess I was stupid to think it was a friend because it didn't have a mind or feelings or anything." Growing hot with embarrassment, Shadowkit looked down at her paws.
-
Euphoria hissed at the creature. She climbed up a tree, and when she was at the very top, she jumped, and landed on it's shoulders. She got a good grip and dug her claws in as far as she could so it wouldn't throw her off.
-
Zeira slowly drifted off to sleep, but she held Fernstorm's paw with a tight grip to let him know she was alright.
-
"But it's silly to still think about that leaf when I have a real friend once more." Shadowkit grinned slightly.
-
She was thrown against a hard, stone wall. She slid to the ground, soaked in fresh blood that seeped from the area that had hit the wall. She squeezed her amber eyes shut, trying not to cry, for her father saw crying as a sign of weakness, and if she was weak, she would be murdered in front of her entire Clan. But who cares? She would rather die than live this death her father was making her go through. She looked up, and once she opened her eyes, he swiped his paw across her face. She bit back a scream. "You worthless rat!" he yowled. "You disgust me! You're a lump of dirty gray hair that should've died with her sickening mother and her dead brother, hard as stone and cold as ice." Zeira winced. "You're weak and terrible. You always scare away prey when you hunt. You're a stinking, rotted she-cat. You gagged up piece of crowfood. I want you to train harder or the punishment will be more severe then this. I don't care if you're my daughter. Willa was a soft, worthless dove, and that's what I fear you will become as well."
Zeira woke up, a scowl on her face. Sure, that was a flash back of more than six moons ago, but she remembered it clearly. It would haunt her mind for the rest of eternity. He would haunt her mind for the rest of eternity.
-
"Monique! You're awake!" Finn said. She sighed with relief.
-
"Neither would I," Shadowkit meowed.
-
"Not exactly," Zeira grumbled. She tried to shake the images from her mind. "Nightmare." Plus, her twisted paw was sore and still, well, twisted, and her chest was sore as well.
-
"Shh, please don't cry," Zeira said, her voice turning into a whimper. "I don't like seeing you cry."
-
"Shadefang!" Hawkflight called. He ran after her. "I'm coming with you no matter what you say."
-
She used her tail to wipe the tears from his face. And then her eyes began to water as well.
