"Autumnpaw." Shadypaw repeated softly, tasting the name on her own tongue. "What about you?" she asked, turning to the other apprentice.

"Well I just woke up, not going anywhere unless Starclan themselves appear in front of me and order me to go on a hunting patrol!" Thistletooth replied sarcastically. Just the thought of going on another one made him nauseous....
-
"I hope not! If my fur gets wet, it'll be moons before it dries!" Rainthorn exclaimed, casting nervous glances at the dark sky. He could already smell the rain on the wind, which was starting to pick up.
-
"Maybe if we just forget about it, it won't rain." he said calmly. Starclan knows I will get mad if it does rain. Rainthorn thought.
-
"I agree." he meowed. Suddenly, a new thought appeared in his mind. The Gathering. Since Thistletooth was a newer warrior, he hadn't been to a gathering with his new position. "I hope I get to go..." he muttered under his breath.
-
Rainthorn sighed and rolled over onto his back. A single flea hopped along on his belly and with an impatient flick, he sent it flying off. He turned his head towards the camp entrance to see if any more hunting patrols were returning. There were surprisingly only a few measly pieces of prey on the fresh kill pile. Rainthorn suddenly stiffened. He could feel lightning crackling in the air, which was now strangely still.
OOC: I dunno where this plot is going I'm just throwing out random stuff.

I'm all out for Lionblaze to become leader but like you guys said, he would probably end up living forever. I mean, seriously it's not that hard to lose all nine lives people!!!
-
"Lightning." he managed to choke out. When Rainthorn was just a kit, his sister got struck by lightning when she was playing in the clearing during a storm. He remembered the scene as if it had just happened yesterday. Sure, there were lots of storms after the incedent, but this one was different. His neck fur rose as the air around him crackled with electricity.
-
"The Gathering." he meowed distractedly. "I haven't been to one since I was an apprentice and hope to make an appearance at this one coming up." Thistletooth gazed at the den walls, his mind fixed on the gathering, and his expression blank.
-
"You don't understand. My sister was KILLED because of it!" he snapped. Rainthorn usually didn't snap at others but today was different. This storm was different. Rainthorn gave his ruffled chest fur a couple of nervous licks.
-
"No need to be impatient." he grumbled. "But it's usually the leader or deputy who picks you. Don't you remember from going as an apprentice?" Thistletooth wondered.
-
Rainthorn glared at Phoenixrose. "That really makes me feel a whole lot better!" he hissed sarcastically. But what if lightning really DID strike the den? No! Rainthorn thought. The chances of that happening were slim. But Willownight was right. As long as they were inside the den, they would be safe - for the most part.
-
Rainthorn smiled at Willownight and let the fur on his shoulders relax. She was right. The den was pretty sodden and probably wouldn't get struck.
-
Rainthorn began to groom his pelt thoroughly. He twisted around and stretched his neck to reach his backside. The fur there was sticking up in clumps with burrs tangled in it. Maybe a good wash would reassure him.
-
"I need to get some of my energy out. How about we all playfight? It would be a perfect way to practice for when our training sessions are." Shadypaw suggested.
-
Thistletooth touched Nightchime's shoulder with his tail-tip. "It's okay. The days have been so long, noone knows how many days have passed." he meowed sympathetically.
-
Rainthorn parted his jaws in a massive yawn. He should really get a good nights sleep. His muscles ached and his fur still looked like a mess. "I feel like a sickly old elder!" he grumbled self-consiously.
-
Shadypaw squeaked as Autumnpaw landed heavily on top of her. She instantly recovered and aimed with her back paws at Autumnpaw's exposed underbelly.
-
"That would be perfect! Fresh-kill served to me three times a day, my bedding replaced every few sunrises, looked up to for my wisdom, that would be a wonderful life! I envy all elders!" Rainthorn purred.
-
Rainthorn glanced at the sky as well. The dark clouds were rolling in by the dozen now. He tried to ignore that. "But look at the bright side, when you're an elder you always have the respect of warriors and apprentices." he said reasonably.
