Sweena had been about to give Swaine an affectionate nudge with her shoulder when he moved, and she stumbled, slipping a little bit as her paws splayed. She caught a mouth full of dirt and she spat fiercely, shaking her head from side to side in frustration.

After a moment she glanced over her shoulder at Ray and then bounded off after Swaine -- clumsily. She stumbled once more but caught her balance as she ran after her siblings, wanting to see what Swyakin could do, even if she did have a rumbling in her tummy.

    Yes, Wynn. I agree.

AND since you know how I feel about... reporting, I would like to make it clear that I don't mind reporting issues involving arguments, rudeness, or anything that could cause a major rift to form that may threaten the integrity of the site. I just don't think that powerplaying/metagaming/god-moding are so... HUGE that they need the staff to take care of them.

And I can almost promise you that *I* would feel less frustrated and threatened if I could just pop off a PM to the person doing it and work with them one-on-one to resolve the problem. It's less confusing that way, IMO.

It's up to you, Groovy. I brought up what I felt was a legitimate concern because I keep having problems with the staff AND I hate to make reports. I honest to goodness think that it is a HUGE benefit for a new member to have somebody they already like and trust to deal with any issues they may be having, and that it would feel less threatening to them.

I can only speak for myself, but I know that I feel threatened by the staff here. The size of it is intimidating, and the current system requires that more people keep getting added. The current system treats people as a problem rather than as individuals, and I also don't like that. And, what's to stop the STAFF from getting "too big for their britches?"

This is a big issue for me on this site. If I'm blatently honest, I don't like the current system, and it affects my happiness here in a HUGE way. Making reports makes me feel nervous and upset, and I'm constantly on edge after I have worrying about what's going to come of it. Thankfully to my knowledge I've only BEEN reported once and I hadn't broken a rule, in fact, but that's beside the point. MAKING them makes me feel anxious and upset, and I come here to relax, not to feel like that.

I can think of at least one person who posted in leaving to say that they were leaving because they'd been harrassed by someone they'd made a report about. So that means that no, I'm not alone in my issues with the current system. It's public (which I like) but it encourages members to "rat one another out" and that does not encourage a friendly atmosphere. The more polarizing this issue becomes between staff and members, the bigger a problem you may have, Groovy.

I didn't make the suggestion that I made because I wanted "power." But as it happens, I've been doing pretty well at helping new members to get settled into the site, and I know that at least in a couple of cases that members would be more comfortable talking to somebody familiar than to somebody they have never met and who may even seem threatening because of their title.

Thalia, I said to Wynn in PM that I felt *pressured* to make reports, and I DO NOT like to do it.

ETA: If anything, that would indicate that the current system encourages people to get too big for their britches with all of the reporting. The reports can be hurtful, and more than that, they do encourage members to lord it over others. A simple "I'm sorry, Thalia, but that looked like a power play to me. Please don't forget to use "tries" in your post so that I can decide if my cat gets hit!" shouldn't be a problem at all. That's not a power trip -- reporting MAY be.
