"I don't know" he said. "All I can remember is that my mother, father, and I were walking, for moons it seemed like, I don't know why, or where we were going. All I know is that we kept on going and eventually both of them died." He thought about his awful past.

"Me too," she replied. "I bet I can catch more than you," she challenged playfully.

"Here you go," she said to mudtail, then sat down and ate her own vole. When she finished, she padded over to Silverheart and said, "Hi, Silverheart,"

"I have no clan, I never have. I lived with my mother in the forest. Before I was born, my father died. I love to hunt and I am pretty fast." she said, not being arrogant or boastful.

"Silverheart, look," she whispered as she gestured to a silver tom with a badger in his jowls.

"Who are you?" asked the she-cat
