I glanced down the hall at the popular girls, most of which were cheerleaders and were rich. Some of the popular, athletic guys were flirting with them, and they were giggling uncontrollably and batting their eyelashes. I rolled my eyes and walked down the hall, past them. I was already unhappy at home. My mom left when I was 8. It's been 8 years, but I still remember. My dad went and got drunk like he always does; he still does. He abuses me. As someone shoved me, I winced as the bruise on my arm throbbed. But school was actually a joy for me. Away from my dad for hours? Heaven. But the truth is, I've always had a crush on a jock-- he has always caught my eye since the day I saw him. Sure, I wasn't popular! But dreaming isn't a crime, right? We had classes together. Nobody really pays me any attention, which I guess is good-- I don't really want to be popular anyways.
