"I guess", Swallowsong sighed. "Its been a hard birth for me".

"Yes they will", chuckled Swallowsong.

A reddish coloured she-wolf exploded from behind some bracken. "You can't catch me!", Shila called merrily to some cubs.
(Can I join, my name is Shila, which means flame in Alaskan, I am a reddish cloured she-wolf, I come from the forest :)) Beautiful blue eyes :) :)

When she spotted Flame she hurried to his side. "I'm so sorry, what happened, are you going to be all right?", she huddled closer to him and licked his ear. "I'll try and comfort you, the best I can", she murmed, though she new in her heart she wasn't helping.

"Come and see your kits", Swallowsong smiled. "I've named three of them so far. This golden tom is Goldenkit, and this one is Sweetkit", she pointed to a dappled tortoiseshell she-kit."And this one is Morningkit", a pale brown tabby she-kit lay by her side." Maybe that cream she-kit can be Berrykit and that Speckled leapard spotted one can be Specklekit, isn't she cute". Swallowsong turned her head and saw the tiny cream-calico tom huddled in the corner."I haven't named him yet". She sighed sadly.

"Thornkit is a wonderful name, but I have named all of the others, so Sandkit it is", She smiled.

Swallowsong left her sleeping kits and sat beside Hawkfeather. She wrapped her tail affectionately around his back."I'm glad you came at last, I was missing you", she murmured in his ear.

(I hope you don't mind if livluvlaf plays Sandkit, but I will change that if you wan't)

Swallowsong looked up from staring into her mates eyes. She noticed a small kit lying near by."Who's this little one?", she asked pointing with her tail.

Swallowsong shrugged and tiptoed to the nursery. She curled silently around her kits and drifted into sleep. She new this was the night that would bring the terrible morning. The morning that there would be no sweet breeze to wake her. Swallowsong would lose her kit.

Swallowsong woke the next morning to see one of her kits gone. The stale scent of a fox left a trail through a whole in the nursery wall and was lost in the wide forest. Swallowsong wailed and curled tightly around her remaining kits. Morningkit was gone, she had known it before it even happened. Swallowsong would tell Hawkfeather as soon as he was awake and she would try and forget the whole thing. But although she had been ready for this, it hurt more than she had expected.

"Swallowsong bounded out of the nursery, she skidded to a halt and calmly asked if anyone new where Hawkfeather was, before she raced off again. "Morningkit was stolen by a fox last night", she called casually over her shoulder. Though she knew no-one knew of her secret power.

"Thankyou Dawnstar, I owe you my life, one day I will repay you", she dipped her head respectfully and turned towards the medicine den with Morningkit in her daws.

Swallowsong returned to the medicine cats den soon after she had eaten, while listening to Dawnstar. She looked at the the sleeping body of Crystalflame and then over to her kit. Suddenly with shock, Swallowsong noticed that her kits flank wasn't moving. She ran to Morningkit's side and lay around her. Morningkit was dead after all...

Swallowsong crept out of the medicine den and sat waiting to hear what els her leader was trying to say.

Swallowsong looked up shocked,"Aloeheart is dead?, she asked shakily. Slowly and bodly Swallowsong came to the front of the gathered cats. "Morningkit has just died as well", she sighed sadly,"I think she was too shocked".

Swallowsong looked up eagerly, but then remembered her kits.
