Oh, he was sooo funny, wasn't he? Emma turned to glare at Chris from across the pool and found herself wishing -- as she often did -- that she had a tail of her own to lash in a display of frustration. She'd just have to settle for the icy look she was shooting his way and flicking that imaginary tail of hers.
Feeling heat rising in her face, she couldn't tell if it was because she was actually blushing (which would have been a rare scenario) or because of the sun beating down on her skin and she was too hot, or maybe because she was so close to Danny... Any way, she was more than a little peeved. Elly had tried to come to her friend's defense, but immediately after she spoke the words, Lion knew her cousin would crack some joke. Typical.
Her mouth twitched, as if aching to form a smile, but she bit down on her bottom lip and stubbornly refused to give into the humor of the situation. Perhaps she was the one taking it all as a joke. Maybe Chris hadn't meant anything by that.
...Nope. She knew him too well. -

The gentle, rhythmic movement of muscle beneath her was relaxing; mesmerizing; soothing. Effortless strides to the beast, but a magnificent display of power to any observer, to be sure. The steed stalked like a jungle cat through the underbrush, despite his muscle and sheer mass, seemingly walking on air, each stride measured and precise. His breathes were steady and defined; his neck was curved in a graceful arch, relaxed as his gait. Ebony black coat glistened with the sunlight that had managed to pierce through hundreds of tree in an effort to grace the forest floor with warmth, while leaves and branches and tendrils fell away in his wake, only to return and dare brush tender kisses of dew to his legs and flank. His gait was even and easy to loose her thoughts in, the drone of hooves shuffling through leaf-litter hardly distracting.
Riding bareback as she was, the huntress could easily feel every twitch of her mount's skin; every quake of his massive body. She knew what went through his head at each moment he hesitated, knew what it meant when he tensed, knew his heart. In return, he knew her heart. Her hesitations, her tensions, her emotions.
Horse and rider, as one.
Ella was utterly overwhelmed by the beauty of it all. As usual; often she realized how completely and totally vulnerable the relationship between the two of them could be - how intimate the relationship between a mount and his or her rider should be - but that didn't stop her mind from pointing it out time after time. It was mystifying. Heart-achingly beautiful, if she let herself think about it for too long. Being a daughter of the goddess of animals, it was a natural inclination to feel a bond between herself and most critters, but those of whom she had truly bonded with -- like the brilliant steed below her now, Orion, or her fiery lioness, Artemis -- it was more than that. Much, much more.
It was nice to ride again. Ella hadn't been on Orion's muscular and extremely capable back for a little over a week since her arrival at Olympian Hill, and it was obvious she had been suffering during that time. There were a few reasons she hadn't been riding, none of which the huntress enjoyed mulling over; one, on the day she arrived, she nearly died; two, Orion had been MIA for the first three days afterwards; three, after falling all that way down that cliff, her back still ached and riding Orion - however fluid his motions could be - was a painful activity, to say the least. So, nearly eight days after more or less joining Olympian Hill, she could ride again. Which was good.
As much of an independent young woman Ella was, and as much as she enjoyed going places with her own two, combat boot-clad feet, the girl preferred her two faithful companions as well as her alternate-means-of-transportation better.
Speaking of two companions, where was Artemis? The lioness, respectively and adoringly named after Ella's mother, the virgin goddess of the hunt (note the sarcasm) was always at her mistress' side. The feline most certainly never passed up the opportunity to wander the forest with Orion -- the mythical wild cat and massive Shire stallion had a strange and admittedly adorable relationship, but that was another topic of discussion that could last hours if you got Ella going.
This morning, however, the lioness was nowhere to be found.
This fact alarmed Ella in ways she didn't dare begin to explain. Artemis never left her side, she knew this for a fact. If the cat wasn't either at her feet or stalking around nearby, something was very, very wrong.
Ella grit her teeth in an effort to kept the panicky emotions that threatened to bubble up in check and took a hold of Orion's reins and a clump of his flowing mane. "Whoa, boy," she murmured.
The stallion obediently slowed to a halt, tossing his head back as if he, too, realized something was up. Without the horse softly loping through the forest, the entire area was still. Birdsong filled the air high above, and a late summer breeze rustled the treetops, but other than those two usually comforting sounds, there was nothing. Which meant something.
Thought it wasn't as if Ella would easily detect the feline lurking about in the shadows, she knew when Artemis just wasn't around. There was a horribly empty feeling in the pit of her gut that had a tendency to show up on those rare occasions, and, yes, she felt it now.
Orion nickered impatiently, blowing through his wide nostrils that made a barely visible fog in the cool morning air. He through his head back once more, but the eighteen-year-old tried not to let it alarm or distract her. Artemis was clever, nimble, agile and incredibly strong. And she was a cat. It was going to be difficult as it was without Orion freaking out and her panic on the rise. Ella let out a light breath and strained her ears to hear the faintest of noises beyond.
But there was nothing. Not a rustle of branches, not the crackling of leaves; not the slightest hint that there was a nearly half-ton lioness stalking around. Not good. Orion tossed his head to shoot a look back at his rider. His eyes were wide, as if he was about to be spooked. Nothing spooked Orion.
In the instant their eyes locked, electric blue optics of the girl meeting those wide amber browns of the horse, they both silently agreed on what needed to be done.
The stallion pawed eagerly at the ground with a large hoof about the size of a saucer plate, before Ella took a tight hold on the reins and steered him back in the direction they had came. Her ankles gently dug into the powerful steed's sides, and he immediately hastened his pace. Even moving with speed through the forest the horse looked graceful, but Ella didn't have time to admire her mount's prowess. She clicked her tongue and eased herself forward on his back, giving his sides another squeeze. Orion did not disappoint, and though he was not Pegasus, they were practically flying back to camp.
She heard it before she saw it. The crashing of trees, the earsplitting caterwauling, the pounding of something metallic and heavy, the rush of flames... She could feel heat radiating off of a few simmering pine trees not far ahead, but a couple Poseidon kids were putting the flames out with water, so she wasn't worried. Her attention was on the thing that started the flames.
The beast was massive, easily half the height of the cabin it had been hellbent on destroying, made up of impressive bronze metal that gleamed bright in the sunlight, ruby eyes glowing a fiery red. The long horns that jut out of its head were pointed towards several of its attackers, but it, thankfully, never had time to gouge a camper. Its movements were quick and powerful, but the efforts of the demigods kept it distracted enough so it couldn't truly hurt anyone in particular.
The huntress was dumbfounded a moment, staring in awe as the gigantic metal bull was forced back by a gust of wind, than brilliant light, and than finally thrust through the air and thrown against a towering oak tree. A splitting crack! shook the air as the trunk split under the weight of the cow that was obviously made by hands and not by nature, but a thundering roar not far off drew Ella's attention elsewhere.
Artemis.
The lioness was across camp, but as soon as Ella's eyes landed on her, she was racing through the camp, kicking up dirt and rocks in her wake, heading right for her mounted master. The girl felt a false wave of relief crash over her as the feline skid to a halt at Orion's hooves. The steed whinnied a rushed, panicky greeting to the cat, but tossed his head and anxiously pawed at the ground. He was prepared for a battle, Ella knew. However, she wasn't; her sword was in the huntresses cabin, on the other side of camp -- too far away to reach now. It appeared that weapons were of no use to the campers, though, because as her mind was calculating a battle strategy, she was watching swords and shields; spears and arrows fall to pieces in the hands of their wielders. What the...?
A grimace creased the girl's brow. This was bad. Where were the heads of camp? The Goldens, the authority? What was even going on here? The huntress found herself frustrated and confused, so without a plan, she raced into the camp. Orion followed her instructions willingly, ready for a challenge, and Artemis was close on their trail. Where the lioness had been only the gods knew, but Ella was glad she had her back. She'd worry about why they were separated later, when there was less dangerous matters at hand.
The huntresses eyes darted from familiar and unfamiliar faces until they found one in particular. Hannah. The Golden was stalking off towards the Head's office, her strides long and her actions quick. Alright, she was getting help. What next? She noticed a few demigods heading towards the arena. Looking for weapons. What use would those be against this monster? Everything was falling apart anyways. Ella shook her head in dismay, but tugged roughly on the reins and directed her steed back in that direction. She was just passing the fire pit when her gaze caught sight of Drake, who looked a little worse for wear. Well, he had just been chased around the camp; she didn't blame him.
Without any other plan, she urged Orion after him. "Drake!" She called out, but she didn't think he heard her over the searing of flames as another tree was blown out of the forest. Totally disappeared, up in smoke. The girl chomped down on her bottom lip and squeezed her heels into Orion's side. The steed obeyed, but she could tell he was confused and getting impatient with all their running around. He didn't know what he was supposed to be doing. Honestly, neither did Ella.
"Where's Gabe?" She shouted to one of the demigods passing her. Gabriel was one of the strongest campers in Olympian Hill, and he wasn't even around? Hades, that boy was aggravating. The child of Athena whom Ella had directed her quarry to shrugged her shoulders and shook her head, mouthing an 'I dunno' before racing off in the direction of the arena. Like everyone else. Ella growled. So, what, everybody was taking this as an 'every and for himself' situation? Herd mentality? Ug. Where were her sisters when she needed them most?
Not here, she heard that beautiful whisper in her head, You left, remember?
That fact only made the daughter of Artemis more frustrated; more stubborn.
"Drake!" She tried again. If anyone was going to listen to her, it'd be the son of Aeolus. Gabe wasn't here, and despite the brotherly-sisterly bond the two of them had been forming, he was too headstrong to ever take her considerations under advisement. Hannah was off to find help. Nuri was safe someplace else, and the huntress steeled herself to not worry about the girl she had saved; the girl who had brought her here. The others were... running around like the rest of camp.
Not many options here.
They needed a plan.

[font=georgia][size=12px] lolNO-.-
The teenager let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding when her feet touched the warm rock ground beneath her, relief ironically washing over her in waves. "Thank you," she heard a breathless murmur slip from her lips, barely audible to even her. Whatever. She wasn't in the water flailing around pathetically and-- Emma scowled when she noticed Chris wading over. The look on his face was dangerous, she knew that much, but before she had time to react, Chris was already out of the pool. "Chris, don't--!!" Her words were cut off as her sharp molars ground together, her wide chocolate eyes watching as the two boys slipped under the cool water.
"Dammit, Chris!" She all but screeched. He wouldn't here her, laughing as hard as he was. As if that was just hilarious. Kicking off her flip-flops and tearing her tank top off above her head, as well as shimmying out of her shorts, Emma growled and ran over to the steps of the pool. "You idiot! That could have... That could have ended extremely badly! What if you dropped him?! What if one of you slipped and hit your head on the--" With a jolt, the girl remembered the book she had just previously read a week ago, Crash Into Me, by Albert Borris; who the main character's brother had died slipping on the cement and cracking his skull on the edge of the pool.
Again, Lion found herself grinding her teeth together, not daring to open her mouth again because she was afraid what might slip out if she did.
Just breathe, Em.
"Danny?" The girl's voice softened dramatically as she waded over to her sputtering boyfriend. "You okay?" -
[font=georgia][size=12px]Hai, Rowan!
I *finally* updated the first post, after skimming through the last ten pages...

[font=georgia][size=12px]Bumping the RP thread. This is a sad, sad day... -n- -
[font=georgia][size=12px]...Yeeeaah. :c -
[font=georgia][size=12px]Oh, really?
The young woman's eyes narrowed ever so slightly as she appraised this strange man standing just a few feet from her. Skepticism and caution was radiating off her in waves as her eyes made one fluid motion in another once over of this guy... So, a twice over.
Who did this sort of thing -- waltz up to some stranger outside of a cathedral and ask about it? Was that a regular happenstance? A normal question from non-religious folk? More importantly, was it sincere, or was it a facade that other reasons were taking up residence behind?
Alyson didn't know. So, she started talking. She talked when she was uncomfortable, only to her best friend and father's knowledge, however. "Um... Yes, I'm a member of St. Micheal's. Is there something in particular you'd like to know about? I mean, I'd be happy to help, but I'm sure some of the priests would be much better at explaining things than I and I really should be going... Wow, it's already nine-thirty at night! Time really tends to slip by when you're having fun, doesn't it? This was fun. I'm Alyson, by th--" CRAP!
Alyson clamped a hand over her rambling mouth, eyes widening in disbelief.
Time to shut up. Time to just go. -
[font=georgia][size=12px]>>Okay. Getting serious about RPing in this.
I updated the first post and will continue to do so; that way, everybody knows what the heck is going on.

[font=georgia][size=12px]What... What was that? What couldn't he do? From the looks of this man-god, he could do anything he wanted with a flick of his brilliant grey eyes, no questions asked. Allyson found herself at a loss for words as their gazes met. Again. "I.... Uh... Thanks."
The femme ran a nervous hand through her bronze mane of hair and released a soft sigh. She wasn't about to ask him what he couldn't do. No. Way.
With a huff, Allyson dropped her arm and twirled her umbrella around, her thoughts idling. She glanced down to the cement sidewalk and kicked at a puddle with the toe of her sneaker, creating tiny splashes and ripples in the water's surface. "Well, are you going to tell me yours? Generally in a conversation you get to know both people's names..." She had no idea what she was doing.
Trying to get out of a possibly dangerous situation unscathed, or at least she told herself that's what she was doing.
She wasn't entirely sure how she should be acting around this dude; quiet and calm or bold and flirtatious. The latter didn't sound like a good idea, but as intimidating as this stranger was, she felt inclined. Stupid girl. Wait, more than that, she wanted to know his story. Which was odd. Okay, really, who came up to you and randomly asked you about your religion? Seriously? Was this guy running a poll or something? So, if he was, should she act humble or professional? Knowledgeable?
Damn, this was difficult.
"Hey, do you... Okay, if you really want to get to know about this church and stuff, why don't we go, umm..." Allyson racked her brain for options, or whatever brain cells were left of it after all the studying going on at her place. "How about we get a coffee? I guess it's not that late; I stay up past my bedtime, anyways. There's a little cafe just down the street from here." She nodded in the direction, only tearing her eyes away from the man that might as well have been a model for ancient Greek statues. She'd feel much better in a public place, too, if anything were to happen and things got out of hand. -
[font=georgia][size=12px]Yup. You just missed one epical Summer Event.
And there's not much difference between CS and WCRPG (accept that you can adopt pets and draw, you know...) so I don't see why your parents would say no. ^^
I like that crab in your template, by the way.
