Peeta picked a couple apples off the tree his eyes wandered toward the direction of the woods. Maybe their would be something like berries hidden in the foliage. Taking the apples and going back to his house he wrapped them up like a gift and put it on the doorstep. Peeta knew his parents would ground him or something if they knew they came from the forest, slipping back under the gate with nothing more than a knife, he headed toward the trees.

Peeta just remembered that the reaping was coming up soon, looking around catiously he started to pick some raspberries off of a bush. He popped one in his mouth as he looked around, a doe skidded past him alarmed he fell backwards near the boots of the girl he had saw earlier.

Peeta took her hand and stood up afterwards brushing off all the dirt and leaf mold the clung to his clothes. He looked back up,"I'm alright." he answered, his blue eyes dancing with laughter at himself. Peeta thought he had seen this girl before in school, heard teachers call on her. Katniss he remembered as he looked at her, wiping the red juice from off his hands.

Aubadekit walked by Madness stopping to talk,"Hi." he said smiling at her. His soft honey colored coat gleamed like flames when the sun hit it, his sliver eyes shining brightly in the den. Aubadekit lifted a white paw and licked the grit out of his paw, waiting for her to answer back.

Peeta nodded noting the seriousness in her voice,"Whst are you doing out here?" he asked. Picking another raspberry and poplin it into his mouth, he found them as his favorite berry.

Ariaflare smiled seeing Servilekit and her others play outside in the sun, she had layed down in her own patch watching them carefully. She had no knowledge of Incisor falling all she knew was that Crescentmoon was out probably talking to him.

Peeta nodded carefully,"See you around." he said turning around and heading back towards the gate. He crawled under and disapeered in the meadow, still having some raspberries in hand he dropped them in the basket carefully and went back in the his house.

Peeta finished some school homework before his mother came in screaming at him. His father was able stop her but he had got hit in the process, his right eyes was turning purple. Then ordered to sit down and put ice on it until it stopped
hurting.

Having to go get some ice for the bakery and his eye Peeta's father gave some coins. As he walked he stopped at the shop were they selled ice and many other things, buying two bags he waited while owner got the ice ready.

Ariaflare looked at Magnanmouskit,"Why don't you play with the others?" she asked her kit still smiling.

Peeta lifted lifted the ice easily onto one shoulder he didn't see Katniss because the ice bags blocked his vision. Heading back to his house he waved hello to Delly Carwright, as she passed by.

Peeta dropped the ice in he kitchen taking a handful for his eye as well. Sitting down he watched his father making some apple turnovers with the apples he picked earlier. The pain finally eased away and he started making more pastry's and different kinds of bread.

Peeta thought while he worked, he hoped that he wasn't picked in the reaping. Sure he could probably get few if he got his hands on a knife, but after that he was hopeless. And Peeta was sure his new black eye wasn't going to help ethier, but his mother had sent out for some herbs that might help him.

Peeta made bread until his father told him to go to bed, obediently fallowing his father's order. He lay in bed thinking about what events will take place tommarow.

Peeta dressed and went out his eye had went down in swelling and would be gone soon. His mother did his hair and told him to wait for his other brother. As he waited he watched people and children pass by, when they finally left it had almost started.

Effie straightened her pink suit before continuing,"Welcome to the 24th hunger games, and may the odds be ever in your favor!" she said in her highly pitched Captiol accent. "Ladies first!" she piped, walking over to the bowl dipping her hand in she took one and went to the microphone.

Effie looked at the slip and read the name clearly into the microphone,"Katniss Everdean!" she said looking at the crowd. She felt a momentary pang of sadness but pushed away being her shrill self again,"Come up, come up."

Effie smiled at Katniss before saying,"Any volunteers?"

Effie continued going to the boy's glass ball, picking one she went to the microphone and read the name written in a loud voice,"Peeta Mellark!" she said.

Peeta alarmed stepped out of his group and went up to the stage, he kept calm but the shock still registered in his eyes.

Effie trinket looked at the mayor,"If you would like to continue." she said going to sit down as she passed him.

Peeta looked at the crowd keeping as calm as he could.
