Shimmerstar shook her silver fur, ridding it of water. A RiverClan warrior had trespassed on her territory and pushed her in the river. Yes, she'd bring it up at the next Gathering. The pure cheek of it. She remembered her Clan's lack of a medicine cat. That was a problem.

Blazefire lay in the nursery, licking her fur, as her kits, Leopardkit and Lynxkit. "Hi!" she mewed as Shimmerstar came in. "Will these two become apprentices today?" she asked. Shimmerstar nodded. "Auroralife!" she called.

Blazefire looked taken aback. "But the last leader to have an apprentice was Bluestar."
Shimmerstar nodded. "But it's not against the warrior code."

"Shatteredheart is upset." remarked Blazefire, watching the ginger warrior leaving for his thinking spot.
"Why do you think he's called Shatteredheart?" joked Lynxkit, licking her mother's shoulder.

Scarletpaw sits beside Lilystar. "I hate hunting for the elders!" she complained. "It wears out my paws."
Lynxfur looks at Falconclaw. "I like him..." she thought. "Should I tell him so?" (can he like her back?)
Ravensong hums to herself as she sorts the juniper berries. "Lilystar!" she calls from her den.

"I have had a sign." Ravensong mewed. "There were falcon claws pointing outwards surrounding the camp. I think it is a sign that he will protect us."
Lynxfur overheard this. "Woah!" she whispered, not realising her dappled fur was showing through the brambles.

" May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Diamond!" Shimmerstar called.

Scarletpaw snorted. "Trust Ravensong to have a sign when I'm having a conversation with Lilystar. She seems to always have a sign right at that moment. Not that I doubt her...."
Lynxfur smiled happily. She knew he liked her back, but she shyed away from asking, to avoid the depression of him saying no.

"Lynxfur!" Scarletpaw called, but Lynxfur didn't hear her. She was in her own world at the time. Scarletpaw scoffed. "She's probably watching Falconclaw again. Scarletpaw knew about Lynxfur's love for him, as she had been told several times. It was getting quite annoying now. Why didn't Lynxfur just tell Falconclaw?
Ravensong dipped her head in agreement. "And the other sign...I saw him and Scarletpaw fighting, tearing apart the territory because of it. I think we should keep them apart."

Lynxfur felt her eyes sparkle. Had he touched her? Yes. She smelt his scent on her fur. "Woah." she mewed.
Ravensong resumes sorting the juniper berries,waiting for Lilystar to answer. She didn't tell Lilystar this, but the second sign filled her with dread.
Lynxfur padded towards the warriors den. "Training?" Scarletpaw asked.
"Too tired right now. We'll go on the dusk patrol if it's o.k with Lilystar." Lynxfur gave a huge yawn. It was fake, but Scarletpaw was convinced.
Scarletpaw froze and sniffed the air. "Badger!" she cried.

Ravensong felt a pang of guilt that she couldn't fight. A lost kit was nearing the badger. Ravensong darted out, grabbed the kit and put it in her den. The queens left their kits and went to fight.
Lynxfur lashed one paw over its face and scratched its muzzle. "This training enough for you?" she asked Scarletpaw.
"Too much." Scarletpaw replied.
"Tough." mewed Lynxfur. "We need to get rid of this badger."

Ravensong glared at the badger and it darted at her. She pushed it straight into a boulder, which knocked it unconscious. She looked in horror at what she had just done. "I didn't..." she stammered.
"You did the right thing." Lynxfur soothed,laying her tail on Ravensong's shoulder.
