Shadow stared at the hand for a long while, after a few moments looking back up into Mepharia's eyes, a smile slowly spreading across his muzzle. "You think you know me so well, Mephiles," he chuckled lowly. "You think you can dangle a 'perfect life' in front of me, and I'd happily accept? Let me tell you something, now." Shadow took a step forward toward her, his expression darkening almost immediately. "The Maria of this time begged me to protect this world. And I promised Solaria that I would always be there for her. What kind of friend, what kind of father would I be to abandon the promises I made to those girls? Do you take me for some sort of coward?" His voice began to raise, growing stronger with each word he spoke. "You say you can see through Solaria's memories, then you must have seen my friends... no. My family, everyone I've promised to protect; everyone who has promised to stay by my side no matter what, even if the whole world was against me! Do you believe I would abandon them as well? Abandon the people I've grown to love?" He continued forward until he was directly in front of Mepharia, glaring into her eyes, his crimson eyes glowing with determination. "You miscalculated yet again, Mephiles. Maria was right. This world is flawed, but I have sworn that I would protect it until my last breath, whenever it may be. I am the Ultimate Lifeform. I will find a way to stop you, and I will rescue my daughter, you damn shadow!"

You've got to be kidding me. Weeks, literal weeks into college and she hadn't found a boyfriend yet? This was seriously putting a kink in her to-do checklist! Romantic dinner before three months is out of the question for sure, Juliet pouted slightly as she scribbled out the words from her notepad. Her chest heaved a sigh, and she crammed the notebook into her back pocket. Her hands went up to grab the straps of her bookbag as she looked up at the classroom she was approaching, her lips pressing together into a thin line.

College had been a new start for Juliet, a chance to finally get away from her boring, repetitive life and bring something fresh for once. She had a degree to fulfill, friends to make, and most importantly, a lifelong partner to find! ... although the latter wasn't looking all too promising. Every guy that she thought would have made a great boyfriend hadn't asked her out yet, even though most of them had been pretty nice to her. What is taking so long! I mean, am I not hinting it enough? Maybe I need to come on stronger...

She paused at the door for a moment, realizing that there were already people in the room. She paused and pressed her back against the wall, taking her phone from her pocket and pulling her schedule up. A huff escaped her. "Thought it was Monday," she muttered to herself with a pout, pressing a finger to her lower lip. "Again. Guess I'll wait in the gym, it's close by..."

A couple minutes later and Juliet had made her way to the bleachers of the gymnasium, plopping herself down just a couple of steps up. Before she could pull up her messages to complain, however, her attention was caught by the loud sounds of a volleyball connecting with the rubber floor. She looked up to see a familiar-looking dude in pursuit of the wayward ball, which was conveniently headed her way.

Juliet blinked a couple of times, realizing that she had been staring at the man as he approached. Her cheeks colored immediately. Did he notice I was staring? Her fingers rubbed against her palms, trying to recall his name. I know I've seen him before... His name starts with a 'K', right? Or was it an 'A'... But before she could fish the name from the list of people she'd tried in vain to pack away in her head, he'd addressed her.

Math? Math, right! "Oh! Yeah, that's me," she responded with a smile, one hand ildly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I knew you looked familiar. Um..." Juliet decided to ditch attempting a shot at his name and just be honest, as embarassing as it was. "I-I'm sorry, I can't quite remember your name. Oh, and - sure thing!" She slid off of the seat, brushing off the backside of her jeans, just in case. "It's no trouble at all."

He actually approached me? OH MY GOSH. This is perfect! She couldn't believe her luck - he was a pretty handsome guy, and even though she didn't really remember him standing out in class (after all, she couldn't even remember his name), it was already something that he enjoyed volleyball. A tall, dark, handsome athlete? It was nearly perfect!

(I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG AAAA i had work back to back for four days straight ;v;)

Shadow was knocked backwards a couple of feet, bending over slightly as he clenched his teeth. “Maybe,” he rasped as he stared at the ground. “Maybe it has. But I’m not giving up. I’ve lost someone once, but I will not let it happen again.” He grit his teeth together before straightening, his gaze once more falling onto Mepharia. “You want to fight so bad? Well, then, don’t expect me to hold back because you’re in her body.” He clenched his fists as crackling light began to envelop them.

Rouge pushed her self up as well, wings flapping slightly as she got into a fighting position. "I'm a spy, honey," she said with a dry smile. "Stabbing people in the back is my occupation."

"And as for me..." Shadow took a step forward, ears flat. "I know that the only way to save Solaria is to hurt her body. Otherwise, you wouldn't have made it so clear." His voice was flat, eerily falling into a calm state. "I told you, Mephiles. I will find a way to save Solaria and get rid of you."
