Despite beliefs or not, all of the clans partake in these traditions. It is consider unloyal if you do not partake in the tradition or you don't do it at all.
Birth of New kits;
This happens when a litter of kits are born. The parents go to the front of the clan meeting and show the clan their kits. The mother says the names for all the she-cat and the father names the toms. If the father or mother has died, then the mother or foster mother and father names all the kittens.
Ceremony of New apprentices;
When the kits are old enough, they receive their mentors then go to the Spiritpond to be accepted from Spiritclan, Starclan or the Tribe of Endless Hunting. A spirit comes out from the pond and becomes the apprentice's Spirit guardian, the Spirit guardian stays with them until they become warriors.
Ceremony of New warriors;
When an apprentice is old enough to become a warrior, they go to the Mooncave at Half-moon the day they are old enough, they go with only their mentor. Once there both mentor and apprentice touch the water with their nose and enter the Starry realm of their ancestors. The apprentice's Spirit Guardian greets both apprentice and mentor, then the Spirit Guardian asks them if they are ready to risk their life for his/her clan. When the apprentice agrees, the Spirit Guardian gives the apprentice their new name and congratulates them, but also mentions that they will not see each other until they join the Starry Realm themselves. The Mentor and now warrior head back to camp, where the new warrior tells the clan their new name and the clan congratulates them. The new warrior then sits a silent vigil.
Ceremony of a New deputy;
When the female/male deputy dies or retires, the leader with the same gender of the deputy that died or retire must name a new deputy. The leader picks the new deputy and the two set of to the Spiritpond, so the deputy may be accepted by their ancestors. Once accepted the deputy an leader return to camp, and the deputy tells the clan that he/she was accepted and the clan celebrate. This all happens at Half-moon at night.
Ceremony of a New leader;
When a leader died or retires, the deputy must head to the Mooncave with a medicine cat and a warrior, to receive their nine lives. Once there, both deputy and medicine cat touch the water with their noses, the warrior stays alert and guards them both. Once in the starry realm, the deputy will see cats he/she had known and they will give his/her their new lives. After the ceremony, the Starry cats congratulate the new leader and the leader sees his Spirit Guardian again, who wishes them luck. They new leader wakes up, and the medicine cat also wakes up. The warrior will report to them what had happened when they were basically sleeping, the three then return to camp. Once at camp, the whole clan celebrate.
Ceremony of burying the dead;
When a cat dies, all cats that were close to him/her huddled around the cat, saying things about them and hoping the cat will be greeted warmly to whichever clan or tribe they believed in. The leader then says something about the cat. All cats sit a silent vigil and in the morning they all take the lifeless cat out of camp to be buried.
Ceremony of the Gifting;
Every twelve moons, instead of a gathering, there is a gifting ceremony. They still head to the waterfall gathering place, however they bring an item that is important to them. The full moon shines down on a particular spot and a cat sits there, the item in front of them. They say why the item is important and how they got it, then move away, for the next cat to sit there. The leaders leave a piece of prey for their Starry ancestors before going back to their clans.
