Fernpaw sniffed.
"I think I smell a rabbit behind that tree. But…that's my bad side." (The side that her deaf ear is on.)

"Um, wite now we downwind. I can't hears itz, though."

She crouched down and crept slowly over. There was a sound like a rabbit running, then a growl, and Fernpaw returned holding the rabbit. It was rather small, and its leg twisted oddly, but the prey was still in tact.

Melodykit, who had been playing several tail-lengths away, stood by Songstar's side, then purred and licked Fuzzyshine, unaware of any growing tensions.
