    'perfect,'purred ashstar.'OK'.He meowed getting to his paws and strutting out of the den.ashstar got a water vole and sat down,flicking his tail for tawnytail, sourgrass, duskfoot,and tickpaw to come.they all came.'Would you like to go for dusk patrol?'

    bluekit had fallen asleep and was dreaming about blacktail.he was coming toward her slowly swishing his tail back and forth,back and forth,back and forth.suddenly he pounced,pinning her to the ground.his teeth were fastened tightly in her neck,one hard bite and it would be over...a large dark brown tabby tom came out of nowhere and pounced violently onto blacktail,pushing bluekit free of his grasp.'RUN!'he shrieked,although voiceless,she cold hear him.she turned and ran just as blacktail had scrambled free of the newcomer.he turned on him and tried to pounce but was cut off by the newcomer's paw,which had smashed into blacktail's face,scoring his muzzle and leaving a deep gash just below his right eye.bluekit woke with a start and flinched as the morning light hit her weary eyes.'it must've been his smell,'she muttered to herself,but what about the other one?who was that mysterious cat?she got up, stretched, and and padded over to where dewstar was sitting.'i'll help bury her,'she mewed.
