slowly stalking a magpie,holding her breath,molefur was just about to pounce when flamepaw came crashing through the bushes,carrying a mouse in his jaws,and scarring the bird away.'LOOK!'he shrieked,scurrying up to molefur,'my first catch!'he had just been apprenticed two suns ago,and such an enthusiastic kit.'well,you won't get any more,running around like that,'molefur meowed,laughing.she just couldn't help it,such an adorable little kit.flamepaw smiled,knowing it was just a joke.'wanna go take these back?'molefur asked.'let's go,'mewed flamepaw.

'i saw blacktail,he came up and was about to kill me when she came out and saved me,she fought him till the death and than he ran away,' blue mewed helplessly,pawing at the earth.

Icetail and the apprentices ran up to coldnight.'Are you OK?'He asked

bluekit stared at the ground,'I hate being little,'she said,'when i grow up i'm gonna find blacktail and make him pay for the destruction he has caused'.

'yeah,we're all fine.Where's Flightfoot?'He asked.*Flightfoot comes running up*'You ok?!'He asked,concerned.

'hey,you should probably go to the med's den,too.that looks pretty bad.'Icetail said,eyeing her bloody paw.

'if you're sure'...said Icetail.'Hey I'm gonna grab snack,wanna come you guys?'Flightfoot said walking over to the fresh kill pile.'Be there in a minute,'Icetail meowed.

icetail told the apprentices to go back and do there daily duties,then he walked over and joined flightfoot and coldnight.

Icetail had just finished a vole,and was about to go to sleep when Ashstar strutted over,'Can you lead the dawn patrol next sun?',He asked,licking his paw and drawing it over his ear.'Sure',Icetail said casually.'Wanna come Flightfoot?'He asked.'Sure,'mewed Flightfoot,tilting his head,'Coldnight?'

'Cool,'said Flightfoot,smiling.'OK,'meowed Icetail,twitching his ear,'I'm going to sleep,seeya at dawn',Icetail walked to the warriors den and disappeared inside.Flightfoot yawned and stretched,then finished the last bite of his mouse.

'tired?'Flightfoot asked.'I am.'He meowed,licking his lips.

blue got up,'we should probably go back to camp and tell the rest of the clan.'bluekit walked,with her tail dragging along on the ground,towards the clan.

'OK,'Flightfoot walked to the den,'see ya for patrol,'he meowed.In the den,he curled up and fell silently asleep.

when they got to the camp,bluekit walked up to meadowfur and dewstar.'our mother was killed by blacktail,'she mewed,looking to her paws.gasps of outrage arose as dewstar called a meeting and reported to the clan what had happened.

Fanning himself with his tail,Ashstar looked up to find icerift at the entrance to his den.'Well?'He prompted.

'OK,that's very well then.'Ashstar says,pawing at the dirt and stretching out.'Shall we send a dusk patrol?'

'yes,echostorm?'molefur asked politely.flamepaw tilted his head in wonder,and flicked his tail curiously.

bluekit reluctantly walked up to her mother's cold body and pressed her muzzle against her mother's.slowly drawing in the sweet scent.also realizing her mother smelled of blacktail,too.'i'll kill him',she muttered,as she pushed her muzzle into her mother's beautiful,silky gray fur.
