I notice Rodger blushing and my own red cheeks subside. Jedan looks disgusted, but that doesn't surprise me. She never seemed the flirty type. I realize my idea might actually work. There's ten of us- and we could have at least ten children. The others seem shocked, but now I realize one thing: our destinies.

I bury my face in my hands, then look up.
"Don't you see? This was supposed to happen! Maybe we'll leave the world with twenty children! If we teach them, they'll survive! The world only started with a few humans- actually, none- and there was 10 billion when this happened. If we warn our children not to go back to the old ways, then we might save ourselves! We can't be stopped by sickness! We WILL live!" I'm shouting now. My hands have gone numb from making fists.
