drexel - nineteen - speech - thoughts
Hope was something that always proved difficult to cling onto when you haven't felt the warmth of it's light in what felt like an eternity. You would feel like you were suffocating; trapped in a desolate place painted in nothing but white. This particular building's interior was sickeningly clean, not a single imperfection to be found. A certain young creature was screeching like you'd never imagine, the sound of torture shaking Drexel's core. His bones vibrated with the burning fear fueling his nausea and anxieties. A sigh left the olive skinned humanoid. He sat in his enclosure like a zoo animal, huddled in a corner and silent. His long, elven like ears pinned close to his head- his body a mirror of his terror.
A loud hiss caused him to flinch violently, his nerves only slightly settling when he realized it had been the door to his 'room.' A human in his late thirties- one of the calmer and more friendly of the lab's workers- had walked in, a tray in his hand. Feeding time already? Drexel could feel his stomach lurching as the food's scent hit him. He was too scared to do anything, let alone eat. Blinking four large eyes at the scientist, shaking his head. He didn't say a word, but tried to let the man know he wasn't hungry without words instead. And then... He noticed the door. Wide open. His gateway put. A fire arose in him and his fury ignited, the weakened creature leaping past the scientist and out of the door.
Escaping wasn't even the hard part. A few alarms were set off, but Drexel was agile enough to avoid being caught. He'd actually made it outta that hellhole. The hard part came now... He was finally out into the world, but what would he do? It felt like forever he'd been wandering... The curly headed boy eventually stopped in front of a nice looking home. Conflicted, he weighed his options. He was hungry after all the effort, and the fresh air settled his stomach, but paranoia still lingered. This place could prove to be shelter and it'd likely have a meal inside. Checking all of the entries, he finally managed to make it into a window. Now to explore... It had seemed like no one was home.
