For a few moments, Mori didn't understand. But then she did. And her body shook. Not with fear -- no, she knew Capone wasn't mad at her currently. But with anger. How dare they hurt her mother? She knew better than to say anything, but she did sit up, stepping out of the protection her mother had offered. She wasn't a baby after all.

((Oh my gawsh... xD love it!))
Mori stopped dead in her tracks, caught somewhere between shock, amusement, and a feeling that he could actually sing. "What on earth are you doing Nero?" She said it before she could stop herself, not really thinking that it might embarrass him a wee bit... after all, the guy usually refused to even emote. Singing?
The list of things she was learning about her brother was growing longer by the moment. Most cats though, didn't even understand the concept of singing she was sure. The birds chirped prettily of course, but only her and Nero understood them... Only they understood that this was singing -- and that it wasn't so hard to do yourself. Mori wasn't eager to try though, despite the fact that Nero seemed rather good at it -- which was just too weird.
-
Oh. She had hurt his feelings then. Or something. Nero had totally shut down on her again, and as she began to pad forward once more, she searched for a solution. "You know. It sounded pretty good." She meant it too. He was good at singing. He had just totally and completely caught her off guard. Mori said it pretty conversationally. Just a casual remark while they walked. Because if she was honest with herself, she liked the Nero she had just seen, rather than this one... the one who pretended he didn't feel anything at all.
-
"And I won't tell anyone. So don't worry about it." Mori shrugged her narrow shoulders. It was as simple as that really. Nero was a good singer. But it was his secret, so far as she knew, and she would keep it. Though, it seemed that for two young kits, they were already build up oh-so many secrets. That was life in the elite for you. Cats got tortured. Cats lied. Cats kept secrets. It was all Mori had known so far.
She didn't think she had ever heard her brother stutter before, but it was a little bit endearing. So she grinned at him and kept walking. Because what was the point in teasing her new friend? Her only friend.

Changed the song I picked Crystal, if that's okay. This one fits her better.
-
There was something utterly different about Nero when he smiled. A good sort of different. The sort of good different that made Mori rather happy herself, eyes sparkling brightly. "Anytime." She replied easily. She knew then and there that she would do almost anything to make sure she saw that smile more often. It was all the more radiant for its rarity and Mori took it as a bit of a challenge really.
"Alright. So where are we going?" She finally asked, partly out of curiosity and partly because in spite of herself she was starting to feel weary again.
-
Mori didn't want to come off as weak. But no matter how much she had fooled herself into thinking she was well, the two knew better now. She wanted to shake her head and keep going. But it would be stupid not to rest if she needed it. "Yeah... Yeah I guess I should." She murmured, shaking her head. She sat down, examining her paws, and trying to figure out how to get rid of the embarrassment that flooded through her at them needing to stop.
-
Mori looked up eventually, laughing ruefully. "Who are you kidding Nero?" She said softly, not in a mean way. "I'm a part of the elite. The leader of which hates my mother. And I'm weak. My body is weak, and strength is all anyone cares about." She took a deep breath, eyes flashing. "All I know is that I really don't want to die. Not for a long time." Strange, how the kit could know she was useless but still want to live.
She didn't want to be a burden. A burden on her mother. A burden on Nero, who had to watch over her whether he wanted to or not. A burden on the elite as a whole. Who ever wanted that to be their life? Of course, perhaps Mori exaggerated a little. She might get better. But the rather emotional kit was sure she'd never be quite good enough.
-
Mori didn't want to watch this. But she did anyways. She watched, disgust clear only in her eyes, as the kits plotted to hurt her mother. And then began to do just that. She understood why. She understood that it was a punishment. But this was her mother. And watching something like this was a terrible thing. One that Mori would have to grow used to.
-
Mori looked away. She looked at anything but Nero. Because really... what could she say to those words? She believed them of course. Why would he lie? But he was angry too. At her? She shuffled her paws. Finally, all she managed to say was: "Well. You're not nothing to me either." It was soft. Nearly a whisper. But it was the truth, and that was all that really mattered. Nero was her brother. Nero was her friend. It was easy to talk to him. Easy to care about him, once she had seen the side of him that could feel. And he was the only person who she knew cared about her -- besides her mother. But Theron loved all of her kits. It was mandatory.
-
Mori, easily growing used to the nickname, smiled, though she was a little embarrassed. He had said it to her first. She was just returning the favor. Besides. It was obvious that he was far from nothing. No no, though she had yet to understand it, Nero was very close to being everything. "And I'm glad you're mine." She said, smile widening into a grin.
That was the moment that two kits became friends. Two kits who were smarter than they even realized, and more similar than one could imagine managed to beat the odds and form a real friendship. A loyal one. Mori didn't know how long it would last. But she was certain that Nero was her friend. And that was absolutely all that mattered to her at the moment, as her chest tightened with that strange joyfulness she had yet to identify as love.

Think about it this way: You wouldn't be as attached to her if you hadn't "gone through all of it with her" so to speak. I find any of my cats with happy lives are ones I don't form attachments with.
Whereas cats like my Gracerain, a heartbroken and damaged creature, are near and dear to my heart.
Of course, you can always have Theron's life turn around somehow. She's your character after all.
-
Great :] I figured I'd let you know just in case.
Ah! I'm excited for this template.
Perhaps I should order a sig for Mori as well... hmmm. -toddles off to think-
-
Oh my gawsh.
Nero and Mori should be responsible for it when it happens. x3 That'd be a blast and a half.
Cool thing you've got set up for the Sight there Yew. I thought it was neat.
-
Thing is though, people only seem to hate her because they are trying to suck up to Capone xD So really the only one that actually hates her is Capone. Who hates quite a lot of cats.
Don't cry -pats back- All you gotta do is turn her life around.
I could certainly see Nero quite enjoying getting revenge on Capone. x3 While Mori watches in amusement.
-
"Why is it that the only person more surprised to see you do anything than I am is you?" Mori replied with a teasing laugh. Because really, the common expression of the day for Nero had been surprise. Who did he seem to think he was? Hard as a rock? It made Mori wonder really. It made her wonder just what went on in that head of his. And just what went on in his heart to. It might be her curiosity. In fact, it probably was. All she knew was that one day she was going to find out.
-
Don't let it bring you down. It'll tun around if you want it to eventually.
Roleplay is a book. But instead of being a book that you can only read, its one you can change.
Which is the best part. -
Mori hadn't seen what she had. But she had seen enough to know that pieces of Theron were broken, and that they had yet to be fixed. "I understand." And she did. That's what life in the elite was really. A lot of fear of betrayal and pain. You had to be careful what you did and who you trusted. "And I promise I won't ever hurt you on purpose." Mori could keep secrets. Besides. She needed someone to trust too. And it felt right to trust Nero, despite his darker qualities.
-
Mori knew that sort of talk shouldn't make her smile. And it wouldn't have. If it weren't Capone he was talking about. But her hatred for Capone rivaled Nero's. In that moment, morals had absolutely nothing to do with it. "I'll help." She replied resolutely. "Somehow." The last bit was added because right now... Mori couldn't fight. She was too weak and too small. But she would help in he own way. Because if anyone deserved to die for their actions, it was Capone.
-
"Maybe you should get some training first." Mori said. It was a feeble joke, lightening the mood just a little bit. Part of her was just truly happy that she had someone. Her mother wouldn't live forever. And how she felt about Nero was different than how she loved her mother. Moi was still too young to understand it. But she did know she liked it. "I swear... if a couple of those kits get killed while we're at it, I won't be sorry." They might be her siblings. But some of them were proving terrible. Cruelty was not Mori's thing. But she would fight fire with fire if she had to.
