jae and austin are kind of similar characters, which cracks me up. if she ever hears him cursing in french, she would just probably either laugh her head off or reply in english like he hadn't spoken in another language.

i think jae will be very curious about heaven, because he's quiet and so she wants to investigate, and then she'd love him like a brother because he's so soft and kind and artistic. she just kind of takes him in. "sorry you're my brother now. i don't make the rules. sucks." what'd ya think?

also, thinking about jae's dynamic with finn is an adventure. they're quite different yet similar, and i feel like they would be interesting when interacting; they're both quite adventurous, reckless, and stubborn, but finn is cocky where jae is awkward and self-conscious. i feel like they'd bump heads. also i could see jae having some kind of little crush on finn eventually possibly the boy's gorgeous tbh.

okok this is gonna be the my first attempt at organizing my characters in one place so that i stop blending them together in my mind. here goes.

Luciana Angèles Garcia

-"hi there, i'm luciana garcia. but just... it's just lucie. the rest is a bit much, don't you think?"
-she thinks the name luciana is actually very pretty and loves it, but she's just been called lucie her entire life, and doesn't really want to make people say all of the extra syllables because it's inconvenient and frankly nobody that already knows her is going to change. her full name makes her feel special though
-late teens to early twenties physically, though can often appear on the young side
-mentally the age of that soft, forgetful aunt who seems plucked out of a children's novel
-fairly average height for a girl (5'4") but likes to wear heels to look like a badass (plot twist: she's not)
-book smart, but she could not find her way out of a paper bag. probably needs her hand held when she crosses the street.
-the clumsiest. don't ever let her drive anything. it's a miracle she can walk. surprisingly coordinated dancer, however.
-a very kind and warm person, definitely naive. would most certainly be the first one to die in a horror movie because she's just too trusting. she'd probably open the door for the serial killer.
-unexpectedly great roaster, but also is roasting herself 45% of the time.
-oh wow look at that i wrote an actual, full out personality description for once:

-originally from argentina but ended up at a boarding school in new hampshire, so her english is pretty a+
-she speaks spanish, english, and italian fluently, can understand but not speak french. she wants to know a lot of languages by the time she is old.
-her father works in finance, her mother is a cafe owner.
-living in divorced parent hell. her mother is in a tiny town in Italy, her father is in buenos aires, and they technically have duel custody. they divorced when she was seven years old, and they often use her to parlay because they despise one another.
-so the backstory to that is that her parents, martina and léon, met when they were both 22 in buenos aires, martina having moved there from italy only a year prior, and their relationship moved a bit too fast. martina ended up pregnant. being raised in a catholic home, she couldn't abort the baby and her parents disapproved of single-motherhood. it was a lowkey shotgun wedding, and the marriage was never a great one, but they tried to work things out for the sake of the baby. they never had another kid because it was hard to just work out friendship after the wedding tbh. long story short, things went very very south, léon ended up leaving martina for a man named diego, and bitterness ensued.
-so moving on from that mess, lucie has really great communication skills because she's so not down to repeat the sins of her parents and is vvv agnostic. she also wants a big family so BE READY.
-her favorite place in this entire world is the town where her mother grew up, which is only a twenty minute car ride from Sorrento, but it's more convenient to go by ferry.
-lucie's a great cook, but forgets to buy groceries all the time. her kitchen probably has a bottle of mustard, three packets of ramen, and some peanut butter if you're lucky. there's just never a convenient time to go to the store and buy actual food, and she hates going alone.
-hates when things are messy. her life may not be together, but damn if her room isn't organized. your apartment's a disaster? it won't be when she's done with it.
-only writes in cursive, mainly because she enjoys the aesthetic. calligraphies to-do lists because she's extra like that.
-danced through high school and quit after she graduated. still likes to stretch, freaks people out with her flexibility.
-bOI she is a touchy-feely drunk. she loves you. she loves that one over there. she loves everyone.
-The Plant Ho™. she takes care of her plants better than she takes care of herself.
-wants to be a great teacher for kids who can't afford stupid expensive schools like the one she went to. hopes to teach english in a bunch of different countries, wants to see the world that way.
-probably has a travel blog.
-enjoys knitting in her free time
-can play exactly nine chords on the guitar and can do a little finger plucking, but that's good enough for her to claim that she plays the guitar. sings along, too. her voice isn't beautiful, but how can it not be nice when she's smiling like that?
-her eyebrow game could bring life
-the best gift giver??? she has everyone's birthdays on a calendar and she has a p l a n.
-likes taking pictures of people, always carrying a camera on her never takes pictures of herself
-very peppy morning person, and she can fall asleep at 9pm. actual abuela.
-one of those eternally cold people, so she enjoys warm weather.
-likes wearing lots of light colors. she is pure at heart, it repels the dirt long dresses are her favorite. her aesthetic is very italian countryside.

Well, as a child I mostly spoke inside my head. I had conversations with the clouds, the dogs, the dead. And they thought me broken, that my tongue was coated lead but I just couldn't make my words make sense to them. If you only listen with your ears, I can't get in.

-late teens to early thirties physically. literally who knows how old she is? not me.
-she goes by jae because everyone that's not korean pronounces "ji-hae" as jae anyways so why bother.
-mentally that hip mom of your friend who you like more than your friend themself.
-she's the raddest listener and giver-of-advice. she just wants to help people and make them smile

-it was always just her and her father. he is a kooky theoretical physics professor who taught at stanford since she was twelve. her mother died a year before they moved from a miscarriage, and since then it was just the two of them. jae loves her weird father and his forgetful tendencies, even if he can sometimes neglect her presence on accident when he's too deep into research.
-avoids problems and confrontation. doesn't know how to handle yelling. she won't face an issue that's happening in her own life unless its being pointed to with a neon sign, and even then she might run.
-diagnosed with generalized anxiety order when she was sixteen.
-she has a lot of trouble sleeping, so she'll be awake at odd hours doing odd things.
-is there any blood in her veins, or has it all been replaced by tea?
-fighting the patriarchy one glittery protest tee-shirt at a time. feminist as hell.
-she really loves writing, but mostly just journals and rarely shows anyone her writing, but her journals are precious to her
-excellent cooker of pasta, eggs, pancakes, and not much else. it's a miracle she's survived as long as she has.
-enjoys cliches
-theoretically knows how to play a couple of instruments, very bad at all of them
-has gotten lost in the woods at least 7 times. gets lost everywhere. someone put a tracking device on this girl.
-her favorite movie is this Japanese film called Orange because it's about wholesome friendship and that's all she wants in this world.
-loves everyone. no discrimination. pan as heck.
-more than that, she just falls in love with e v e r y o n e. major romantic.
-biggest ambition is owning a bookstore and having a bookstore cat that she can name Woolf like the author, and maybe having a nice spouse to give soft kisses to.

-the only way he's getting into college is through his soccer skills and his pretty smile. despite being a major slacker and a worse procrastinator, teachers tend to love him. they want to see him succeed.
-when you first meet him, you'd think that he was quiet and shy and brooding.
-hah that's fake. the boy's a walking joke deep down.
-probably the originator of some iconic donald trump meme.
-ridiculously competitive. gets overly hyped about dodgeball games, let alone anything that actually matters. at least he's a bundle of energy.

-he grew up in a suburb outside of philadelphia, pennsylvania. his father owns a company and his mother is stay-at-home. he has an older brother named nori who is three years his senior. nori was clearly gifted and got a larger portion of their parents' attention. hiro just sort of... fell through the cracks. it's not that his parents didn't love him, nori just had more showiness. it gave hiro a sense of independence, at least, but he lowkey resents and loves his brother at the same time.
-comes off as one of those straight guys that says "no homo" to everything. joke's on you. full homo intended. god this boy is gay.
-what if i said that he can cook? because he definitely can. he wants to be a chef when he grows up. honestly he probably got through his midterms by bribing the t.a. with a meal.
-you bet that this boy is a stoner. he tried vaping but didn't see the point (he was really bad at all of the tricks)
-god what an edgelord.
-if you were to ask him about religion, he'd probably say that he believed in the flying spaghetti monster. he's actually really superstitious, though, and just isn't sure exactly what religion he falls under.

-actually makes himself one big joke because nobody has ever bothered to take him seriously in the first place, so he never stopped to try. not that he's going to tell you that.
-the biggest dog person there is. would probably adopt 12 dogs and have 0 regrets.

As fast as a fool can fall, I'm trapped back in these same four walls

-somewhere within her teens and twenties
-her parents spent kindergarten trying to convince her teacher to call her min-yeong but that was a lost cause and her kindergarten teacher instead decided on the name miya. it just stuck and she's been called that ever since.
-whatever age she is, she probably appears at least 2 years younger. has probably been mistaken for thirteen before. gets a lot of "shut up, you're, like, twelve" jokes. not very amused.
-english is never spoken in her house, so it became her worst subject in school. she was trying to keep up with american kids when english was not her first language in the slightest.
-she shone in mathematics because of this. her school assumed she was simply gifted in this area, never pausing to consider that perhaps she was just a highly intelligent girl all around, instead giving her extra attention only in math. she is now intensely good in this subject, but more because of this extra focus than anything else.
-she's ridiculously driven and ambitious. she knows what she wants and she goes for it. that's not to say that she completely disregards her morals, but she can be somewhat machiavellian at times. she wouldn't step on a friend to get what she wanted, perhaps, but an acquaintance? maybe.
-concerningly hardworking. despite requiring a lot of sleep (maybe 9 or 10) to function optimally, her description of a "decent" amount is 4.5 hours a night.
-never complains, hates people who complain. she doesn't see the point in moaning without reason - either do something about the situation so that you don't have to whine or shut up because there's nothing to be done.
-really independent. she honestly doesn't know how to accept help. she thinks that she can do everything best on her own.
-honestly, is she a slytherin? is she a ravenclaw? can't decide.
-don't * with her, her sarcasm could kill a man.
-speaking of killing men, raging feminist as hell. don't talk to her if you're not down to dismantle the system.
-probably the president of at least 4 clubs at school, stupid overachiever.
-she lives with her father, mother, and her little brother, tae-young.
-backstory time!!! her parents moved from korea to boston, massachusetts a couple of years before miya was born. her father had a wild dream of opening a restaurant and her mother's family was all gone, so there was nothing to stop them from trying. first they had miya, and then tae-young came seven years later. the restaurant never had a booming client base, but it was steady enough to keep them afloat.
-tae-young developed childhood leukemia when he was four years old. the doctors were able to save him, but the debt of hospital bills left the family drowning. miya began working where she could for money, never telling her parents that it was an effort to help out. she competed for prize money in math competitions and worked as a tutor.
-miya was discovered by the recruiter for a top school at a competition who suggested that she apply for a full scholarship to a boarding school that was a harvard-feeder school, and she was accepted. the scholarship included room and board, so she knew that it was a load off of her parents.
-her family has an akita named makkachin (after the dog in tae-young's definitely 100% not my favorite anime.)
-whenever she gets really angry, she just starts speaking in fiery Korean instead.
-she's always busy and hates not being busy.
-wants to be a neurosurgeon when she's an adult.
-excellent cook of about 6 dishes that are her father's recipe. she is rarely allowed in the kitchen at home besides to help wash things because she is bad with knives and stoves and hurts herself too often.
-she dresses very eclectically and does this purposefully to piss that person who cares off, but also because she's at the whim of Goodwills and thrift shops
-dismantling sexism in STEM one biting comment at a time
-major sweet tooth
-she speaks english, korean, and is considered to be at least proficient (if not fluent) in japanese, as it is so close to korean that it did not take her long to learn. she studied mandarin when she was younger, but currently takes french in school.
-her favorite color is yellow
