"All right!" Thread remained where she was. She felt terrible, but would not desert her post. If nothing else hopefully the kits would not be harmed.

"We're doing plenty just by making sure no kits get hurt," said Thread. Her friend was always so down on things, so negative, she wanted to help her take heart in something...anything.

ic: Thread remained ready. Maybe they'd get lucky over here...and the babies would be spared.

Thread looked at Goldenpaw, scratched an itch on her shoulder with her hind foot, and sighed, sitting down.

Thread paced in a small circle then sharpened her claws on a tree trunk next to the den.

Thread abandoned her post as soon as she heard her mother screaming.

"MOM!" She crouched down by her, licking her wounds.

"Mom." Thread sobbed. "You'll be okay. Hang on!" She pushed a large leaf against the worst wound to stop the bleeding. "Talk to Talonstar? No, not yet. I never got to. But I'll help you. Just don't die!"

"Good."

Thread dragged her by the scruff out of the battle itself, to a place under a bush where they'd be hidden from danger. She continue to then hold the leaf in place. "Stay with me."

Thread finally dragged her fallen mother into the nursery. She didn't want her to be alone out there. "Goldenpaw! We need a medicine cat!"

"That's okay." Thread continued to administer pressure on the wounds on her mother.

ooc: Icewind is away right now so Thread will just fade into the background till she's back. :)

Thread nuzzled the kit and groomed it. In between licks, she looked back up at her best friend. "Good work. Don't get yourself killed out there."

"How much longer will this go on!" moaned Thread as she continued tending to her mother's wounds as best she could.

Thread sighed. She was still looking after her hurt mother. "Be careful, Goldenpaw!"

Thread watched Goldenpaw go. She sighed and trudged back into the den. She felt that other than rescuing her mother, she had been rather useless, but she had possibly saved her mother's life. Of course, that was always worth it.

"Mom, how you feeling?"

"Is any medicine cat there?" yowled Thread. "My mom's been hurt!"

Thread had just stayed by her mother the whole tile. When she seemed stable, Thread ventured out of the den to see what else was going on.

"Goldenpaw?" she called her friend.

Thread ran over to her. "You okay? I didn't get to talk to you at all before you went into that battle. I've been tending to my mom, she's still hurt but doing better now. What's happening?"

"Good. I was worried." Thread thought Goldenpaw seemed a little uptight or cold, but decided not to pester her--she was sure it was the trauma of that battle.

"Talonstar," she said quietly, bowing her head, "may I ask you for one favour?"
