"Go right ahead," Acornpaw replied. She was curious to see the young tom hunt. She blinked snow from her eyes; it stung her skin. Was the wind getting fiercer? Acornpaw crouched lower and shuffled to some ferns to avoid being buffeted by the storm. Red eyes focused, she studied Quarterpaw intensly.

Argote felt a paw slam into her head. She recoiled, thudding to the ground underpaw. Argote, like any other blind and deaf kit, had no clue what was going on. Bodly, the kit scrambled to her paws and striaghtened her ears. She was defiant. The kit decided she would go along with Dusk so she wouldn't get hurt, but vowed to never truly join her. Argote's ears flat, she wriggled over to the she-cat. When Dusk's scent burned her nostrils, she found a soft, round shape. Argote mewed before clamping her teeny fangs down on Dusk's paw.

Arcornpaw smiled. "Not very good?" she meowed, "You caught it, didn't you?" The apprentice waded through the steadily deepening snow, to where Quarterpaw held his mouse. She gazed around, unable to see through the blizzard. Acornpaw shook a flurry of snowflakes off her coat and shivered. "Should we head back to camp now?" she inquired.

Acornpaw felt a stone of fear settle in her belly. She gulped, and gazed to her right. Quickly she looked to the left before noticing every way appeared to be the same. Acornpaw decided to head straight, and began trudging through the snow. The apprentice didn't reconize a thing. Panic began to take control of her small body. Red eyes searching, she hurried faster. "I think we're lost!" Acornpaw mewed.

Acornpaw gazed around. She felt ashamed; how could she not know her own territory? Perhaps it wasn't that she didn't know, it was that she couldn't see. The few landmarks she reconized were blurred, and snow clouded her eyes. Acornpaw shook the lumps of snow from her pelt and sighed. Panic was making her dizzy. They were going to die, weren't they? Acornpaw ambled over to Quarterpaw and buried her face in his cold fur. Tears streamed from her eyes. "Quarterpaw," she sobbed. "We're going to die!"

Acornpaw lifted her painted head, to stare meaningfully into Quarterpaw's eyes. A flicker of confusion had crossed her face, and then she realized, Quarterpaw wasn't the timid, worthless cat he thought he was. In truth, he was a brave, determinded, heroic cat focused on saving their lives. Acornpaw blinked her tears away and sniffed. The she-cat stretched her stiff legs and began wandering into the heart of the storm. The apprentice gazed over her shoulder, confirming Quarterpaw's presence.

IC::: Cherrykit gasped as the icy air expanded in her lungs. From her nose to tail tip she could feel the frost travel. Her limbs were stiff and she couldn't help but stretch them eagerly. The kitten opened her mouth in a mew, revealing a little pink tongue and a row of soft newborn teeth.

Cherrykit's silver tabby fur was fluffed up cutely, and she appeared twice her size. She decided right then that she didn't like the cold. Cherrykit dragged herself over to a milky scent that she reconized. Something soft touched her head. It was her mother's fur. Cherrykit's belly rumbled and she mewed once more. The kit longed for something warm to fill her up, and began to suckle.
