Cinderkit poked her head out of the nursery to look around camp.

Greyshadow had heard Lilypaw call after him as he left. He was thinking about that now and sighed. This only added to his own doubt and reconsideration. But he was never the type to put himself before others and knew if he did this, the pain he would bring would be washed away by new happiness. If the choice you are left with is taken you don't normally think about the one path you could have taken. You do not think about what would happen if you chose one thing instead of the one you did. At least this is what the large tom believed...
-
Greyshadow angled his ears to listen to a rather beautiful robin. Nothing would be the same between him and Lilypaw. He knew it would pain him to go back, he knew Lilypaw would not want anything to do with him... but it's a pain he would let time heal and mend. Her hating him would mean she would lean on a fellow apprentice. Greyshadow sighed heavily, "And yet I still can't accept what I've done..." He said this to himself before laying down. Was he really running? He never expected to turn into that kind of warrior, the kind that can't face his fears..
-
After a few more moments of just sitting there, Greyshadow rose and started heading to camp. Oh what a fool he would appear to be coming back so soon, but the breeze and the singing of the birds had persuaded him to go back. At least for her. He couldn't expect the apprentice to just know what was going on, he would lead her back to the clearing so they could talk. Hopefully she would listen.
-
"Why? Whats wrong?" Darkpaw asked..
-
Darkpaw sighed, "Daisypaw.. you don't need four legs to be beautiful. It's the inside that counts, and your spirit, and how you deal with things. At least that's what my mother taught me.. Plus you'll be super cool when you learn to hunt and fight with three legs. That's skill..." Darkpaw still spoke in his soft voice and left out the part that he was still interested in her, feeling embarrassed to just say it out loud.
-
Greyshadow padded back into camp and looked around, he glanced at the kits before sniffing the air. Lilypaw's scent was headed for the apprentices den so he padded over. "Lilypaw..." He mewed in his deep tone, poking his head in and his amber eyes adjusted to the lighting.
-
Darkpaw blinked his green eyes, "Of course I do, why would I lie?"
-
"Come." He beckoned her then added, "Talk of understanding is better then silent uncertainty." He was basically saying follow if she expected to hear his reasoning. He backed out and padded a little way off before waiting for Lilypaw.
-
Greyshadow nodded to her and then glanced at Bloodpaw before padding out of camp, looking behind him once and a while to make sure she was following. He padded on in silence until they finally came up to the clearing he was at earlier. The birds were still singing and he couldn't help but smirk.
-
Darkpaw flicked his tail, "Then you can count on it, I'm tellin' the truth."
-
Greyshadow tilted his head up to look at a bird that was perched in a tree, "They sing so beautifully." He then dropped his amber gaze from the bird to Lilypaw, "But I suppose you want me to address why I brought you here, hmm?"
-
"I left the clan to drive out the foxes.. and to have some time for myself. I shouldn't have left without saying anything but I did, and wishing and praying things were different won't change that fact. We cannot simply turn back time." Greyshadow sat and curled his tail around his paws neatly, "I needed time to think. And coming back, well, I heard Bloodpaw wanted to get 'close' to you."
-
Darkpaw smiled only softly, "Yeah, no problem."
-
Greyshadow looked at her a moment before answering, "The who isn't important. I wasn't told directly, it was just clan gossip I happened to have over heard. And I care because I always have." He flicked his ear, knowing that doesn't explain it, "I was getting to it." His whisker twitched with some amusement. "How much do you know of /love/ and the warrior code?"
-
"Afraid?" Darkpaw stressed the word and snorted, turning his head away, "I'm not afraid. I don't feel fear."
-
Greyshadow flicked his ear and just sighed. He suddenly felt regret bringing this up. "True. Anythign else?"
-
"Yes." This is Darkpaw's only reply.
-
((Just for the record, it's neither
Lilypaw ain't mouse-brained and Greyshadow ain't impatient :L))Greyshadow flicked his tail and nodded to her, "Yes." He expected she could connect the dots herself. His amber eyes trailed back up to the bird who was silent but still there. Hopefully he had not won over Starclan's disapproval for his emotions.
-
"No." Darkpaw muttered. Talking about this would be discussing a weakness, and he didn't plan on giving that away to anyone.
