Vienna Christopher is a seventeen year old girl with long, silky, blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. She usually wears her hair back in a headband or up in a ponytail even though everybody wants her to wear it down. Vienna loves playing the keyboard, guitar, the cello, sing, play baseball and basketball. Her favorite thing to do is snowboard, but everything changed when she went blind.
Vienna needs someone to look out for her other than her brother, Jett, and her parents. She needs someone other than her family to take care of her. Maybe she'll find that special someone when her parents finally decide that she can go back to regular school and try to do the school work. One day she meets a boy that she likes, but doesn't know if he would like her back because of her blindness.
"Vienna, come on, get up." I sighed, opening my eyes to hear my younger brother, Jett. Of course I couldn't see him, but I knew he was standing beside my bed. "What time is it?" I asked, groggily. "7:45. You need to get up for school. Mom and dad are enrolling you again today." I sat up, Jett threw back the covers, and grabbed my hands, pulling me to my feet. I was seventeen and my fifteen year old brother was treating me like I was helpless. I guess I was since I couldn't see.
-
"What clothes do you want?" Jett asked, sitting me down in my desk chair. "I want my grey Purdue T-shirt and my black skinny jeans." I heard Jett pull them out of my closet and sat them down on my lap. He turned away as I got dressed. Surprisingly in a year of being blind I learned how to dress myself. "I'm done, Jett," I said, as he turned around. He grabbed my hand and me towards the bathroom. He quickly brushed my blonde hair and handed me my toothbrush.

"Well, at least I knew it was a bird. I'll show you the classrooms next." Colton said.

I finished brushing my teeth and Jett leaded me towards the kitchen. "Vienna, sweetie, do you want something to eat?" My mom asked. I shook my head. "No thank you." I was already upset on how helpless Jett was treating me. I couldn't imagine how people at school would act. "Well, we got to go. It takes a long time to enroll somebody." I nodded and Jett lead me outside and into the car. "Everything's going to be fine," he assured me. A few minutes later we ended up at school and Jett got out of the car and lead me into the school. There were so many kids and I was bumping in to so many that I wanted to scream. Everybody would look at me weird. Jett lead me into the office as my mom held the door open for us.
-
I could feel everybody's eyes on me and I quickly flipped my blonde hair into my eyes. Jett squeezed my hand as we walked up to the other desk lady. "Vienna!" She cried, hugged me over the desk. She knew me from the last time I was here. After the accident that made me go blind my mom pulled me from school. "Hi," I said, quietly. "We're so glad you decide to try public school again." I smiled even though I could still feel everybody's eyes on me. Jett lead me towards a chair and sat me down. "Mom and I are going to go talk to your teachers. You stay here, okay?" I sighed, "I'm fine, don't treat me like a child." Jett sighed and suddenly there was silence, so I guessed he went with my mother.
-
"Sorry," I whispered, moving slightly, hoping she didn't trip or fall flat on her face. Where was Jett when you needed him? The boy that asked me to move probably thought I was completely stupid.
-
I put my hands in my lap and hoped Jett would show up soon. I really didn't trust anybody, but Jett and my best friend, Katie. They were okay with my blindness and understood everything. "Okay, I'm back, Vienna," Jett said, pulling me to my feet. "Let's go see your classrooms and see Katie."
-
I nodded as Jett dragged me towards my first class. He slipped my backpack onto my back and lead me into the classroom. "Vienna!" Katie screamed. Suddenly I felt her slam into me. "Hey," I whispered, hugging her back. "You'll take care of her, won't you?" Jett asked. "Trust me, Jett, I will," Katie replied.
-
I could here the boy from the office's voice and another guy's. They sounded like they were arguing. "Just ignore them," Katie whispered as Jett left. I shrugged, but I was ready to stand up to whoever I had to.
-
"Katie, do something," I whispered, urgently. "He's going to get hurt." Josh, the guy that was picking on the boy from the office was my ex-boyfriend. I thought I actually loved him and when I went blind he dumped me for no reason. "Well, if I have a legitimate reason to beat up Josh then I will step in," Katie said. "Hey, Josh, leave him alone," she ordered.
-
'Josh, stop," I yelled, managing to find his arm and grab him. "Vienna, don't," Katie said, grabbing me. I completely ignored her. "Josh," I begged, "Stop."
-
"Are you okay?" I asked the boy from the office. I didn't turn my head because I had no idea where he was. Katie forced me to let go of Josh's arm and I sighed. I really did love him, but he broke up with me just because I went blind. Also, I figured out he was a selfish jerk.
-
Katie guided me to my seat right next to her as the teacher walked in. "Vienna," Katie whispered, "Both Josh and that one boy are staring at you." I sighed, heavily. I really wanted Jett to show up. I didn't know how much I needed him. "They're probably staring because I'm blind."
-
"Okay, now a very annoying brunette is flirty with the guy," Katie explained. I loved how she was trying to be my eyes, but I really don't need to hear about a girl flirting with the boy from the office. Man, I needed to learn his name.
-
Jay, that was his name. "Miss Singer," Katie said, "Vienna needs a textbook." I could feel all eyes on me. Most of my former friends probably didn't even realize that I was back in school. "I thought you were blind," my former best friend, Melanie, snapped at me. I smirked. "If your information, Melanie." Bitterness filled my voice as I said her name. "I am still blind."
-
"Then why are you here?" Melanie snapped back. I smiled. "I'm just willing to try public schooling, but sadly that means I'm stuck with you." I chuckled at the look of horror on her face. I was done with her crap. She wasn't really nice to me when I was here the last time.
-
I smiled as she didn't say anything back. I was knew for my comebacks and that's why I was labelled the girl every guy wants to date and to be honest I hated being known as that girl.
-
Nobody would want to date me now because of my blindness. Nobody would be willing to deal with me. Katie could tell I was unhappy because she grabbed my hand. Miss Singer sat a book down on my desk and I knew everybody wondered why I had a textbook since I couldn't see. This was a special textbook made for blind people.
-
"Hey," I replied, quietly as I heard Jay's voice. Surprisingly, he was actually talking to me even though I was blind. People considered me a freak.
-
Jared chuckled. "You're telling me. I'm glad I can talk to you about stuff like this. Jason and Luca refuse to hear it."
