"Wow..." That was all Emberpaw could say in response to the story. It was pretty incredible. And... the tom's name seemed to suit him, in the apprentice's eyes.
Her grey eyes were large and round and she shook her head in disbelief. "How injured was she?" This was the biggest question in her mind. What kind of injuries would one sustain from such a fall? Surely he had broken at least one leg... "Did everything heal?"

Emberpaw found it hard to keep up with her mentor's pace. As she was barely out of the nursery, this should have been expected. Why was Aquafrost pushing her so hard? Because of her disorder? The apprentice gave a small, irritated snort. That had to be it. She didn't like being stuck with such a lame excuse for an apprentice. She wished that she had been given a normal one. So, she was pushing Emberpaw so hard in the hopes that she would give up training so she could get a normal one.
The ginger tabby's eyes flashed as she was practically running to keep up with the warrior. She was panting and wheezing, but refused to give in, no matter how much she wanted to.

Emberpaw sucked a breath in between clenched teeth. That was... that was not good at all. Then again, however, it could have been much worse. And at least he healed. She shook her head, thinking the whole thing over again. "Crazy," she muttered.

Emberpaw wanted to glare up at the warrior when she used the condescending tone, but figured it was pointless. She'd probably just make training even harder.
Listening to her mentor, she glanced around. She really could see pretty much everything on RiverClan territory from here. It was kind of cool, actually. She blinked in surprise to the warrior final comment though. Turning to face Aquafrost, she frowned. "I don't like being around cats because I have social anxiety disorder. OCD has nothing to do with that." She meowed, a little pissed that her mentor didn't know the difference between the two things. However, maybe that meant that Aquafrost didn't know she had two disorders. That certainly wouldn't make her happy to find out...

As Otterfur woke up screaming, and then apologized for it, Emberpaw shook her head. She had had her fair share of nightmares, she knew how awful they could be. And by the sounds of it, the warrior's nightmare might have been caused by memories. Emberpaw's were always that way too. She could sympathize.
As the warrior began to cry, however, the apprentice shuffled awkwardly. She was bad at dealing with cats in general, but crying cats? That was even more difficult for her. However, she told herself to relax and remain calm. If she could, she should try to help the distressed warrior. Feeling horrendously awkward, the pale ginger tabby padded slowly over to Otter fur and sat down next to her. Not close enough that they were touching, but she was right next to her. "It's... it's okay," she murmured quietly, her grey eyes fixed on the sobbing she-cat. "Everything's fine... You're awake now..."

Emberpaw blinked. "That must have been awful for his family," she realized as she thought more about it. She couldn't imagine how worried and scared they must have been for him. But, they must have been overjoyed when he returned and healed. She gave a small smile at the thought, but quickly dropped it.

The apprentice's tail lashed angrily as she listened to Aquafrost's harsh words. Why should she respect a cat who had no respect for her? A cat, no less, who threatened to tell the leader that she was not warrior material if she did not do what the warrior wanted.
Emberpaw could see that she had agitated her mentor. Good, she thought. She's been doing it to me this whole time, she deserves a little back.
With Aquafrost's last words about kitsitting, Emberpaw was unable to contain a low growl. This was getting ridiculous. Her disorders would not cause that much of a problem. Not for Aquafrost, anyway. Emberpaw was the one who had to deal with them and all of their unpleasantness. And here she was with a mentor who didn't understand or want to understand. She seemed like she'd rather beat it out of the apprentice than learn about it.
The ginger tabby bit back a sarcastic response. "Fine," she muttered, her tail now twitching non-stop. As immature and rude as she thought her mentor was being, Emberpaw did want to be a warrior.

Emberoaw blinked and raised her head to look at who had spoken. What was she doing here? She was on her own territory, she could do pretty well whatever she wanted. However, as her grey eyes landed on the she-cat opposite her, she realized that she did not recognize her. A sudden panic flowed through her as she sniffed the air around her. Oh, sh*t, she realized. I must have accidentally crossed the border!
Trying to hold back a panic attack and keep herself from hyperventilating, the apprentice leaped to her paws. "I-I-I... I was swimming, and... and I accidentally crossed the border," she explained, tripping over her words. While speaking was normally difficult for her, due to her social anxiety, the trouble seemed to multiply now that she was talking to a cat that would likely attack her if she didn't explain quickly. "I'm s-sorry, I really d-d-didn't mean to!" Her ginger fur was bristling with fear as she stared, wide-eyed, at the ThunderClan warrior, waiting to see what she would do.

Emberpaw blinked. They had rejected him? She certainly didn't expect that. It seemed a little cruel of them. "Well, they all surely came 'round in the end, right?" She asked, noticing the tom's awkward glance to his paws. It didn't seem like a good reason to reject their own father, in her opinion.

Emberpaw breathed a sigh of relief, but didn't completely relax. "Th-thanks," she murmured, offering the warrior a small smile. Why was this ThunderClan cat being so nice though? The apprentice had to wonder. She could just be a kind cat, she mused. ThunderClan had to have some of those, despite the stories she had heard back in the nursery.
"Why are you being so... so nice?" The ginger tabby asked, confused and wanting to know the real reason. "You could have just attacked me and chased me off. In fact, I'm certain that's what most of your clanmates would do."

Emberpaw was so stunned by the warrior's order that she dropped all irritated movements and just blinked in surprise. Lead... the way home? She repeated silently, making sure she had heard correctly. Now the anger was slowly being replaced with worry. She was pretty sure she didn't know the way home yet. They had, after all, not come here straight from camp.
Turning around, the pale ginger she-cat looked in all directions. Was that the camp over there? Shooting a quick glace back at Aquafrost, Emberpaw decided to just go for it. It might be, it might not, but it was worth a shot. She was not a useless apprentice, and she would prove that. A look of determination on her face, though her grey eyes glinted with worry and fear, she took off down the hill in the direction she hoped led to camp.

The apprentice nodded as the ThunderClanner explained. "Well, thanks then," she mewed. I should probably head back, she mused and turned around. She padded slowly over to the river and looked across it. ...I have to cross it again, don't I? Normally, this would not be a problem, Emberpaw liked swimming. When the water was like ice, however, that was a different story.
But she had to get hoe somehow.

Emberpaw padded along in silence, trying to forget her mentor was behind her. If Aquamist wasn't there with her, she couldn't disappoint her. Though, she was of course still there, judging as ever, Emberpaw was certain.
As she walked, she studied the landscape. She hadn't seen this part for the territory yet. Then again, she hadn't seen most of it yet. But not having seen it before was a good sign. It meant that she was not going back the way they had come. She wanted to look back and see if the expression on Aquamist's face would give away if they were going the right way or not, but refused to do it. She wanted to do something without help. She wanted to prove herself.

(OOC: Oh crap, sorry! I guess I wasn't paying much attention there. XD; )

At the sudden noise and foreign scent, Emberpaw froze. Grey eyes wide, she glanced around until she spotted several warriors chasing a much larger creature. A fox she guessed, based on the descriptions she had heard in nursery tales.
She flicked an ear as Aquafrost told her to assess the situation. Assess it? Wasn't that what she had just done? Was she supposed to speak her observations out loud? Or was she... supposed to do something? All this thinking and worrying and not knowing for sure what to do was causing anxiety to build up in the unstable apprentice. Her heart started pounding and her breathing sped up. "Um, uh... Well, those warriors are chasing a... fox? Off of our territory. So... that's good. It doesn't look as though they need any help, not that I would be any..." She trailed off, her eyes flicking over to her mentor. "But, they're leading it that way, which must be away from camp to keep everyone safe, so... camp must be that way?" She pointed with her tail in the opposite direction and turned her head fully to observe Aquafrost's reaction.

Emberpaw nodded as Nightwing explained. "Ah, well, that's goo--" She began, but cut herself off. As she spoke, she had chanced a glance up at the sky. The moon was on its way down, and the horizon was brightening. Dawn was on its way, the Gathering would be ending very shortly. Panic once again filled the young apprentices eyes. She wanted to get out of there before everyone started to leave, not wanting to get stuck in the bustling crowd.
She quickly turned back to the kind warrior and met his gaze for a moment. "Thank you so much for everything," she told him, her words completely honest and filled with sincere gratitude. "I don't know how I could ever repay you. But I'm sorry, I have to leave now. Thanks again. Goodnight!" As soon as the last syllable and slipped through her lips, the ginger she-cat was on her feet and bounding away as quickly as her young muscles could carry her.

(OOC: Fun news! I just purchased The Sight for Emberpaw! So, the next training thread we do should be a tad more interesting. :D )

Shock filled Emberpaw. No snarky comment? Nothing demeaning about her or something to scare her? That meant only one thing. She had been so very, very right. She held back a satisfied smile. Too bad she got no praise for her intelligence though. That was the one thing that she thought would have made the moment better. Perhaps being told she should eat something was the closest she'd ever get to that.
The pale ginger tabby nodded and turned to head in the direction of camp, now that she knew more or less where it was. She almost raised her tail high above her head, she was so pleased, but she didn't want to seem too full of herself, or make Aquafrost irritable again. Instead, she kept her face blank but for her shining eyes, and her tail stayed low.
As she walked further, she realized that she could see the camp up ahead. She had done it! Oh, what a relief. The pleasant emotions soon fled, however, as Emberpaw watched the busy camp from afar. She would have to go in there... there was sure to be a big crowd... Everything that had happened today so far slipped from her memory as everything was replaced with panic. She couldn't do it. It would be to busy, too crowded...

A young apprentice was padding by on her way back to camp. She was supposed to be out hunting, but she had come up empty-pawed. On purpose. But the reasoning behind this was a long story, and an unnecessary one at the moment.
The pale ginger tabby was minding her own business, dreading going back to camp and being surrounded by others. She wasn't in the mood for another panic attack. Then again, when was she in the mood for one? This was Emberpaw, a fairly new and very anxious apprentice. However, she was feeling more relaxed now. That was, until she felt waves of anger emanating from a nearby cat. It was strange, this new ability she had begun to develop as of late. But it could prove to be quite useful to her.
Anyway, she sensed the anger, and followed it back to its source. She spotted a warrior sitting not far off, looking indeed rather furious. Emberpaw, being socially awkward as she was, did not approach the other cat and ask what was wrong. No, instead, she stopped where she was and sort of just... stared in the tom's direction, wondering what it was that had him so angry.

(OOC: She has The Sight, that's why she can sense Amphibiancurve's emotions, in case you were wondering. XD)

(OOC: No, Jayfeather's power. She'll be able to feel other's emotions, occasionally be able to see their memories, as well as see and contact dead cats. :) )

Hearing Aquafrost's cold words, Emberpaw's ears layed flat, though she wasn't angry. She would have been, if she wasn't so panicked and afraid. She stayed still, her grey eyes, still wide, watched her mentor continue walking. She knew it was stupid, she should be able to enter her own camp without freaking out or feeling any fear at all. Yet, here she was.
The apprentice hesitated for a moment before following the warrior. It might be a little easier for her if she came in behind another. She was trembling as they neared the camp, terrible thoughts swimming through her head. Oh StarClan, why, why did you make me this way?

She continued walking along the water, further and further downstream she went. She was tempted to actually put her paws in the water, and walk along in the shallows. It would be cold, certainly, but that might make her mind sharper, allow her to think a little clearer.
Still mulling this idea over, Emberpaw suddenly felt waves of sorrow. This was surprising enough to make the stop pacing. She napprowed her eyes and looked up in front of her. It was a little ways off, but she could see another cat in the distance, sitting beneath a willow.
The apprentice ruffled her fur, the sadness making her feel very uncomfortable. This was partly because it was weird to be feeling someone else's feelings, and partly because, well, there was another cat so nearby. That she hadn't noticed until just now. What should she do now? She felt lie she was drowning in the other cat's emotions.
Hesitantly, the ginger tabby started moving forward once again, heading slowly in the other cat's direction. She wouldn't go a right up and approach the cat, but she was curious enough to move a bit closer.
