Uh Oh. She thought, and quickly leaped off the branch, right as it plummeted towards the ground. She heard it hit the ground with a loud thump. I hope no one was under there... She thought worriedly.

A quick check and she knew nobody had been unfortunate enough to get in the way, except for one little squirrel. Oh, well. She thought, and continued on. There were no squirrels nearby at the moment, but after a few moments, she was attacked again. Oh, come on! She thought, annoyed. Let's go again...
-
She climbed up the tree diagonally, but these squirrels had seen her previous attack, and were prepared. Nuts rained down from all sides of the tree, pushing her to the ground.
"Ow..." She murmured, pulling herself out of the dirt. She had little time to think about the fall, though. Nuts upon nuts came pouring down, and she fled, back to her bush once again. What do I do now? She wondered.

She pondered a moment, and then thought but had no ideas.
Rainpaw padded up to her, also sheltering from the rain. "Hi, I'm Rainpaw." She mewed.
"I'm Riversong."
"Do you know how we can beat these squirrels?" Rainpaw asked.
"Hmm... I know! What if we both run around in random, different directions, and then we attack?" Riversong said. With two cats, now we have more of an attack to plan... This is much better.
"Okay! Lets go! 3... 2... 1... NOW!" Yelled the apprentice and ran out from the cover of the bush, Riversong following closely. -
Rainpaw and Riversong ran about, running this way and that. As soon as the squirrels stopped hitting them, the scaled the trees. The swatted squirrels this way and that. But however strong their efforts, there were just too many. The squirrels quickly gained control, and drove the pair back down the tree.
"Now what..." Riversong muttered when they reached cover.
"Hmm... We could run around longer. They have to run out of nuts eventually." Said Rainpaw.
"Brilliant! I didn't think of that. But let's just rest a moment, first."
"Okay!" mewed Rainpaw happily, glad to have helped. -
"Okay, ready?" Riversong asked Rainpaw.
"You bet!"
"All right... ready... set... GO!" Riversong yelled, charging through the area, Rainpaw not far behind. They ran, circles, zigzags, any pattern they could think of. Then... it stopped.
"We did it!" Rainpaw yelled "It worked!"

Their celebration was short lived. They heard massive scuffling above, and watched as each squirrel changed places with a new one.
"Oh no" Groaned Rainpaw. "There's more." She sighed, as more acorns came raining down.
"Hide!" Yelled Riversong.
The two cats looked around frantically, but had strayed far from their hiding place, and were stuck in the open.
"What now?!" Yelled Rainpaw.
"Climb!" Yelled Riversong, heading for a tree. "And don't stop!" She added. -

The cats climbed the trees, enduring acorn after painful acorn hitting them. Then... They reached the top.
"Wow... we made it..." Rainpaw said, out of breath.
"I'm just glad it worked." Riverson replied. "Wow... look at the view..." She said, looking over the forest.
Rainpaw shifted her weight, and the tree shook. "Woah!" mewed Rainpaw, gripping the tree with her claws.
"Careful" Mewed Riversong. "I don't want either of us to fall." -
[14]
"Okay" said Rainpaw, staying as still as she could. "Um, Riversong?"
"Yes, rainpaw?"
"How do we get down?"
Uh oh. this was something neither of them had thought about.
"I... I don't know..." -
Accepted! :)
-
[15]
"Hmm... It'll be hard to get down, but there's got to be a way to do this without breaking our necks." Mewed Riversong. "We just have to figure out what that way is."
"We can't climb, we'll be attacked by squirrels. We can't jump, or we'll break our necks!" Rainpaw mewed, looking down at the forest floor far below them. "So, what can we do?" She asked, looking towards Riversong. -
[16]
"Well," Riversong mewed. "You know how when they run out of nuts and change positions?"
"Yeah." Mewed Rainpaw
"Well, we wait until then, and we climb down as fast as possible, and run until we reach shelter. Okay?"
"Got it!"
The two waited awhile, and all of a sudden, the tree started to shake.
"Now!" Yelled Riversong. -
[17]
Riversong scrambled down the tree, startling the squirrels. "Come on, Rainpaw!" She yowled, not sure if the apprentice had followed her or not.
"I'm scared!" Came a voice from above her.
Oh, no... She groaned in her head. She stopped and turned around, racing back up the tree to Rainpaw. -
[18]
Riversong reached the apprentice. "Come on! Let's go!" She yelled. "Now!"
The apprentice had her fur raises and her claws gripping the bark of the tree. "I'm scared! I can't!"
"Yes you can!" Encouraged Riversong.
"I can't!" Rainpaw protested.
Riversong sighed and grabbed the apprentice by the scruff, dragging her down the tree. -
[19]
Riversong dragged Rainpaw down the tree, as nuts began to rain again. She had only about ten tail lengths to go. She aimed for a branch, and leaped down. CRACK! The branch gave out underneath their combined weight. Thankfully, Rainpaw caught a branch, as did Riversong. They quickly scaled down the tree, and ran for cover. -
Hello to All! :)

Riversong and Rainpaw returned to camp, exhausted.
"Maybe we should just stay in camp for a little while." Suggested Rainpaw, grabbing a squirrel from the massive pile in the clearing.
"I might just do that." Mewed Riversong, also grabbing one.
They ate their meals, and retreated to their own dens. But before they departed to sleep, Rainpaw asked "So, do you think the mice are next to attack?"
And right now, Riversong wasn't sure.
