In the blink of an eye, Jade's expression hardened into the look she had only used when she was Rose on the battlefield. It was also a look that she knew Pearl would recognize. Jade pulled out her double swords, holding them at the ready."Yes.She.Is."She growled, using what had once been her commander voice."Pearl, just because her life is shorter doesn't make it any less important! You are holding yourself above them all, but you forget that on Homeworld, you were just another Pearl, created to serve without a second to hesitate. Look.Look closely." She said, pointing at Connie." Do you really want her to be like you were meant to be?A mindless, glassy eyed follower with no regard for who you were following? Actually, no, that's what you still are, blindly fighting in the name of Rose Quartz, having faith that she told you all her secrets. She must've, right? As her second in command, she would have told you should she make a change in plans as to who would take her place should she be shattered?" She asked, blades at the ready.

"Oh, I don't know....maybe the fact that she and I knew each other very, very well before the war.I was her superior, her friend, her confidant. As for me?Well, I told her about you and I, and she told me of the rebellion long in advance. She and I both knew a Pearl would easily join, even if you weren't made to fight.So we planned for you to become her right hand gem, which worked flawlessly, if I do say so myself, and I became very talented at shapeshifting. I became so good, that if I wanted to look like a completely different gem, I could do it. Their colors, their hair, even their gems and weapons." She finished, letting the smaller gem reach her own conclusions. Jade wasn't meaning in hurt Pearl, it's just that she didn't want her lover to blindly follow anyone, nor did she want her to turn Connie into an easily manipulated puppet.

"Hi, Amethyst!" Chirped the kit, bouncing right up to the purple cat. She sniffed once at her before rubbing her gem on Amethyst. She felt her sadness and wanted the other cat to feel better. "Why are you sad, Amethyst? Do you want me to help you feel better?" Purred the little gem, climbing on the older gem's back.

She swore under her breath, glancing at the human and Halfling."Stay here, or go.I don't really care. Just so long as you stay out of the way. There might be a fight." Jade said, putting away her swords despite her last statement.The gem stood to her normal height, which was taller than even Garnet, and raced after Pearl. Her darling Pearl. She wouldn't be able to stand it if she lost her over this. She probably sees it as deceit, not as my desire to protect her. She thought bitterly.How could I've been so stupid?!
"Pearl?Pearl!" She called out, desperately trying to find her.

"Pearl?Pearl!" She cried out, her voice growing more and more desperate as she searched for the other gem. "Pearl, where are you?! P-" Jade froze mid sentence when she heard a choked sob come from a hidden alcove. She whirled around, and the sight before her made her heart ache. There was Pearl, her pale form curled in on itself, shaking with the effort to not cry. Cautiously, Jade knelt before Pearl. She reached towards her but hesitated, unsure of how she would react."P-pearl...." She said shakily, bowing her head with her hands on her knees. Her emerald hair fell in long waves in front of her face, having fallen out of its normally immaculate braid while she panicked."I don't care if you accept what I say, just......just hear me out, okay?" Jade said, waited for an answer. When she didn't get one, she continued.
"What we have.....that's completely real. My involvement in the rebellion and the secrets I kept don't change that.Nothing ever would, and I can promise you that. Rose and I were very close, so I trusted her to know about our love for each other. She knew that you were a very intelligent and unique Pearl, and trusted my plan to have you close to her. She also knew of my protectiveness over you, and wanted me to be able to keep you safe . That was when our agreement came to be. If she kept you close and let me take her form from time to time, I would leak false information to the Diamonds and take her place should she be killed in battle. Please understand, Pearl, that I did all of this for you, and I was a bit of a hypocrite earlier when I berated you for living and dying for someone , when I live for you and would die for you without a second thought." She said, scrubbing tears from her eyes.

I just had a picture in my head of them both being too stubborn to let it go and then they're in the living room like the next day, glaring at each other (which can be terrifying to the others, seeing how Jade has her military stare and Pearl is as salty as the sea) after a little spat about it. Then they just sorta jump each other with all sorts of angry PDA

Jade was in a bit of a pickle. Her gem was cracked, and it happened when she was in wolf form. If you didn't know what she really was, you could never guess. Her green fur was so dark it was almost black, and her gem was hidden by her thick fur.What gave you a hint that she wasn't normal was the fact that she was HUGE and that startlingly green eyes.
She had been that way for almost the entire post war era when the Crystal Gem decided to stop living in the forests of the Adirondacks and actually try to seek the leaders of the Crystal Gems to find a way to be healed.
Unfortunately, her journey was much longer than she expected, and she felt like she was on the verge of collapse from sheer mental exhaustion by the time she reached Beach City. It was raining, and the cold water cut right down to the bone, no matter how thick her fur was. She was so out of it, whether it was the cold or the strange heat she felt that caused it, she didn't know, that she didn't even take note when she stumbled onto the porch of a beach house and fell, exhausted from the effort she had exerted on the organic form she was in. What she also didn't see was the black haired boy who had rushed out of the house.
