Despite her lingering dislike for Somberkit, the Medicine Cat couldn't help but laugh at her cute performance. It was adorable that even kittens like her were doing their best to make everyone happier. HEr thoughts flashed to the way she'd been behaving, and she felt a strong pang of guilt. While she'd been grumbling, yelling and making most cat's lives a mess — especially Battlesong's —, there were cats — even fout-month old kittens! — that were doing the exact opposite, putting a smile on other's faces and spreading cheer in the Clan. Did that make Somberkit, who she'd been so busy hating and looking down on, a better cat than her?
Maybe she should get up there and say something nice and heart-warming too? No.. that's not your type. Coming from you, it would just sound stupid and phony.
Still, she had an announcement to make. "Could I say something too?" she asked, jumping onto the boulder with ease and some of the grace she'd thought to have lost. "I'm afraid my announcement isn't as kind and optimistic as Somberkit's, but it's nonetheless important." she gave a small, warm laugh. Most cats would probably be surprised to hear that sound coming out of her mouth; she hadn't smiled in ages. But maybe it was time to get back into that game everyone around her played, the game of life, and actually try to enjoy it instead of just waiting for the end. "Since we've moved here, I've been very low on most herbs; the territory is big and completely new and I don't have the time to go exploring to find all the herbs I need. I was therefore thinking of taking on an apprentice." she shot a glance at Laurelpaw, who'd seemed keen on medicinal stuff lately; she thought she'd seen her lurking around the medicine place a few times. "If any cat is interested, you may come see me anytime tomorrow; I'll tell you a little about my job, and if you think you'd like helping me with it, you may start your training as soon as you wish. Remember, though, that you will someday become a full medicine cat! So if you're not sure you're up to handling that responsibility, tell me — you can always just help around, instead of being an "official" apprentice."
She gave a small, hopefully warm smile, then leaped down from the rock. "That is all I had to say."
But she didn't go back into her den or go sit down on her own; instead, she started heading towards her mate. Her gaze had wandered to his face during the meeting, and StarClan, it was obvious he wasn't feeling great. And it was just as obvious it was her fault.
"Battlesong...?" she mumbled, nearing him. "Are.. uh... is everything al right?"
